I disagree with the argument that the post quality of the board has reduced. IMO the post quality is just as good as other local boards with high merit circulation. I visit other local boards and the posts that receive merits aren’t exactly quality according to the general board standard.

This is very correct. There has been several good posts here that don't get merited and most times you see complaints about how low the quality of posts are. This makes me wonder if the quality of posts differ with local boards. There are many other boards that have clearly less quality posts but high merit. There are many threads in this our local board without a single merit even with many pages of discussion.

Sometimes it appears like the quality of posts depends on who the poster is or the rank of the poster. If we don't learn how to promote our own, no body else will do it for us. Again, so many threads here only get merit on the first or second page and this is sometimes likened to visibility too.

I would suggest that our merit sources assign threads or sub boards among themselves to ensure that merits are evenly distributed. Post quality is personal and same is merit sending. I applaud our sources and our moderators. But we can do better!

You do not understand, 50 smerits is not enough. You can apply under the igebotz thread for merit giveaway or so instead, provided if he unlocks it. Most of us that are new merit sources, the smerit allocation is not enough. I can use 50 smerits in just 4 to 5 days out of 30 days which was what I did when I become a merit source. Quality posts are easy to see but where are the smerits to send when they are not enough.

I agree with you @Igebotz, if Mia was more interested in becoming a technical board merit source, then the posts he submitted in his application should have been from the technical board and mainly from technical board posters but instead he used posts from local board members which even if he didn't openly mention which board he wants to become a merit source but technically it is clear that he was accepted as a local board merit source. Even Charles-Tim who doesn't pay much attention in meriting local board posts also applied on the ground of the local board merit source. Everyone is entitled to where and how they want to spend their smerits whether a merit source or a regular member, but it is laughable to deny the root with which a position is being granted to someone.
      @Igebotz, i want to use this medium to commend you for your generosity to the local board even though you weren't officially announced as a merit source. I assume you are the only one who has been able to identify quality posts in the local board when others view posts from the local board as low quality.

What the heck are you saying? I don't know why I didn't see this on time. Are you Theymos? Did the message for approval of my merit source go to you or to me ? You are outright saying things you know nothing about and maybe you should go back and read up my merit source application thread and be enlightened.

A local board is a place for all discussions and I thought a mod should be able to the very least comprehend that. Maybe you should focus on other things other than telling me where I was allocated.

Most of Mia Chloe submitted posts were local board posts, but there were technical posts there and an altcoin board post. I just glanced through it now. I may not be 100% accurate because I just glanced through it.

I intend to reward quality posts anytime spotted especially on my local board and technical discussions. Here are is my list of under merited posts.

Especially that still means he can merit any other boards, but local boards and technical boards are are his favorites, like where he visits the most.

This is news to me. I always assumed you’re a merit source for the Naija local board specifically

Heavy community supports for additional local merit source - the 3 new local additions were given the same amount of Msource. You only need to read through the first page to know where they were applying for. theymos would not make you a B & H merit source if you submit 2 posts from that section and 8 from Indian local board. It doesn't work like that. You and I have been here for a long time to know this.

It is not a big deal like I said before, I was only surprised when he mentioned something like that on Meta some weeks ago and then today. BTW being a merit source to a particular board does not limit anyone from giving out merits anywhere they found a merit worthy posts. It's an ethical thing to do.

I would want to clear the air that the last 3 merit source that was approved was just 50 merits on their allocations, which 50 goes no where and sometimes before I could realized I have end up exhausting my source. The allocation is too small, and to be honest we have lot of quality post both in all sections of our local board, what just matter is point of our interest on which place we should be rewarding them. For instance I barely have interest in politics, so most time when I comes across any post that catches my attention I reward them, but for the others I give out and if you check my distribution 99% goes local board.

Again, for Mia to say he is not a local board merit is very disappointing because it was local board he puts at forefront, even though he included other boards as he mentioned his interest was on local board that was why many local users supported his application. Talking about Charles-Tim, He is also a local source which the allocation doesn't even serve him. Lastly, I would want to commend on @Igehbotz as he is really servicing the board going all around with his distribution, and of course if our allocation increases we can also join hands with him as well to reach more profile as I believed that our community is the fast growing and the largest currently. So, I don't think this should linger anything as we all are one, the fact is we should be concise in our post, writing a wall of text doesn't connote how quality a post could be and a quality information is enough to be rewarded.

Are you sure this is a wrong board to discuss about merit when users that were sent and received merits monthly are part of the statistics? I think it started from people noticing that some merit sources sent more merits than others. I still think these discussion can be here.

Are you sure about this? I have not seen anywhere Mia Chloe posted that he is receiving 50 smerits monthly. Can you point to where he posted it?

I am knowing just now publicly that you are receiving 50 smerits also.

To be sincere, it is too small for me. At least, I need 10 smerits daily and that is at least 300 smerits monthly. That should be able to show my full potential. I hardly merit topics because I still see some and not send merit because of lack of allocated smerits.

To be fair, you do spend most of your allocated merits on this board, so does Mia Chloe who isn’t a local board merit source and is doing the board a favor. Just to be sure, we have only 3 merit sources; Igebotz, Charles-Tim and Smartgold01.

This was my initial question that started the discussion. Since there are very few comments here, I’d assume that merits are circulating just fine within certain groups and they are satisfied with the results.

Thanks for the update Amphenomenon. I can’t help but notice that there is a huge gap in the sent merits between Igebotz and the other local merit sources. Is it possible that Igebotz has more allocation than the others @Charles-Tim (19), @Smartgold (48), and @Mia Chloe (117)

50 smerit is enough to make an impact, to be honest Charles-Tim I really don’t know that you are a merit source in the Nigeria local board because you really don’t merit post in our local board, you usually do that in other board, I was thinking maybe you were made a merit source in those boards you usually visit and merit, well it’s a good thing you are a merit source in the Nigeria board and I want to tell you to do more better, the forum management is watching you guys and they may increase the Smerit if you people actually distribute the Smerit in the jurisdiction you applied for a source.

I don't even find technical posts on the lb anymore but I choose to still send merits to every interesting post I find. Check 50% of users complaining about merit most of them have their posts in gambling board mostly. Next time don't try to impose something on me it will only place us on different routes.

I can already see the thread is already getting personal but I'll let it slide. Maybe they should read more and evaluate stats instead of typing the opposite. Over 98% of the post I have merited on the board within the last month don't have a thought of technicality to it which means If I was meriting only technical posts like I campaigned to do then I won't send up to 10 merits to the lb at large. It took a long time and a long of incentives to get the bitcoin topics we have today.

If you can be honest to yourself, the main reason you were given a merit source in this forum was for Nigeria local board and not any General board, sending out only 19 merit for good 2 months to the Nigeria local board is very poor and you should not try to justify yourself, just try to do more better. You be our person, if you no distribute merit give us for Nigeria board who go do am. Please step up, remember the reason why you were made merit source was because merit was really lacking in our board and you confirmed it yourself in your application.
It is very bad and shameful that even with all this merit source we have in the Nigeria local board, we are still lacking merit and other local boards with 1 or 2 source are making merit follow, when I went through other local board I can say we are the best in teams of quality post so you guys can’t say there’s no quality post in Nigeria local board.

What igebotz posted make good sense. He is receiving slightly more than 10 times smerits than we are receiving, I think around 500 to 600 smerits monthly from my calculation but I could be wrong. Compare that to other moderators. We all do not see what he is only receiving.
