I am applying for merit source for
Nigeria (Naija) local board.The reason for the application:I have noticed that merit giving on the local board was not enough. But what gives more zeal to apply is because I noticed that we post more than the merit we are receiving on the board. If I should quote many of my posts here, you will be surprised many useful posts that are not given any merit at all. According to theymos, we can post about other people's posts which is what this thread is all about.

What’s the essence of finishing the school with the loan taken without a means of paying back after school? Does that makes sense?
The loan will be paid back after the person is employed. If what I watched about it is true, the loan payment will be spread over years, probably in a way that will be convenient for the borrower.
I’m not sure about the employment status before the person can pay back the loan but the repayment of the loan will commence two years after NYSC. I just hope employment is readily available for such graduates within the two years after NYSC, so that they can pay back on time and the process remains swift for the betterment of all Nigerian students.
My biggest fear now it is execution because almost everything in Nigeria even those meant for the less privilege are most at times hijacked by the higher class or they would request for tip off before granting them the law. So I think the government shouldn’t just set up a central office just yet. The approval should come from each school. When a student can’t get funds to register for a session then the school should be in a position to grant him that loan. This will maybe reduce the number of student that could request for this loan and probably not still in academic year either through graduations or have been expelled out of the school.
Before the bill was being passed it must have a passed a lot of scrutiny by top officials and the president is already briefed and aware of how it will be executed, I hope the process doesn’t favour the elites only. Part of the process of acquiring the loan is that the student must not have being convicted for any drug related offences, not engaged in dishonesty or fraud, not caught engaging in examinations malpractices in school or in the past, also if they or the parents have not defaulted in any loan in the past. If this process is followed strictly, then we’ll get some level of transparency in the whole process.

Clearity on the Binance saga.
I have been seeing various comments and happened to come across this topic, on how the lawsuit against Binance U.S. is affecting operation/service in our region.
The truth is, the SEC in Nigeria investigated Binance NG Ltd and discovered it isn't a subsidiary of the main Binance, but a name registered in hopes that Binance would come to the country.

While a search returned a match, the company, registered in December 2019, is inactive.

He confirmed to Mariblock that Binance Limited Nigeria is unaffiliated with the global exchange, adding that he registered the company for arbitrage purposes.
“The company [Binance Nigeria Limited] is not affiliated to Binance. It was only registered for arbitrage reasons when we thought Binance might want to set up operations in Nigeria. But that did not happen, and as you can see, it [Binance Nigeria Limited] is inactive.”
A Binance spokesperson told Mariblock:
“We are aware of the circular. However, the entity mentioned in the circular [Binance Nigeria Limited] is not affiliated with us. We are therefore seeking clarity from the Nigerian SEC and remain committed to working with them cooperatively on the next steps..."
This is just the SEC warning anyone within this region to be careful about investing in cryptocurrency because of the risks involved, mostly for those who have little knowledge about the subject matter. The SEC isn't against the idea of decentralization, but hopes to help protect the funds and data of its citizenry from hackers, scammers, fake exchanges with questionable operation, by collaborating with other regulators within the country to offer guidance as necessary.

I was greeted with one of the most relieving news of the year today "The limit on the domiciliary account has been lifted." No doubt that cryptocurrency has helped in place of a domiciliary account for cross-border payments, but certainly not in the area of savings in the USD with confidence, that's at least for me as the security of my money is important.
The limit restriction introduced by Emefiele's CBN in May 2021 must surely affect those of us that have been saving in dollars before cryptocurrency. This savings approach is good since it doesn't devalue our money and we also get to gain through it, and also with the hope that we can send our money anywhere in the world if need be. But suddenly, Emefiele made sure that our savings could not be transferred abroad anymore if sorted at home or use as we like, he scattered the whole process.
With this news, it shows that the new CBN acting head seems to know where some of Nigeria's problems lie. Causing more hardship is not the economic solution but allowing the market flows freely after making positive policies is. This restriction removal means that I can save and use my dollar like before.
You can try this too as a good option for saving in fiat.
Besides, another pressing issue that needs major attention by the CBN is that of the Naira debit and credit cards. These cards are now worthless in Nigeria, but all were working in cross-border swapping arrangements before Emefiele restricted them and caused more hardship for Nigerians in payments, especially where cryptocurrencies are not accepted.
People now use either third parties for payments of something that supposes to be private, and as such, pay more, or are forced to use the dollar version of the cards which goes with more issuance and maintenance fees thereby enriching the banks more.
It will be a great relief if the CBN could do this for Nigerians. They don't have an excuse anymore after removing the fuel subsidy.

One of my friend been inform me until I tested it out and as crypto people like to they use Opay make payment because of the free transaction and charges, na him I say make I share this new scam update wey boys they use scam people.
Scammers don they clone website wey dy be like original website but in the real sense, no be the real one, no be only for a particular payment platform, na across all but the one wey I see na Opay. The scammers clone a similar website wey be like say na OPAY but if you are use to the original platform, you go know say no be true but some people wey no sabi the difference betweeb the original and the fake they fall for them.

This one, na the original website of Opay payment platform be this and from the look of the design, e clear but that one no mean say another scammer no fit do this perfect job, just dy at at aleart before you login.
This one na the scammer screenshot from image be this, e dy slightly different from the original Opay website but the scammer do am in a way wey person wey no eye clear go fall for am, because he will ask for a mobile number and password which from his back end, him go copy and come use am for the real app and the funny thing be say, e go behave like say you dy Opay true true, it will request for the OTP which he go dun request from him end and meanwhile you don't know that he is the one that requested for it and that is how they will have access to your account balance.
I test run one fake number and 6 random numbers as password and na wetin the website request be this, they will ask for you for OTP after you input your login details(mobile number and password) and the scammer used it on his end to request for OTP and that is how scammer go enter your account.
Key things to they observe from this payment platforms so as not to fall victim:
1) Always login on the app downloaded from the playstore or Apple store, them fit clone another fake app too but do well, to detect the original easy.
2) Always avoid unnecessary links
3) The website links they get funny funy domains like .buzz, .game, .fun, .money. You know why because to register these kind domain no dy cost and e cheap to maintain like the .com and most like fit no they available for purchase and if e dy, e go cost for them
4)Avoid to they enter giveaway places, na from there them dy drop this fake links and website for people to enter.
5) Know that this is not limited to only Opay, e they happen to all other digital banking platforms like Kuda, Palmpay and many others.

As for the matter of Naira restrictions abeg make dem no comot am but can increase the limit for daily transaction on our apps dem but make dem no release more naira into circulation abeg. Right now, not even cities are ready to fully embrace cashless policies and our banking system still need more work for instance, sometimes, you might want to make a payment and the bank app no go work because of network issue with bank. Sometimes, POS terminals suffer from this too and that thing dey really affect the user experience of using these cashless alternatives leading to inconvenience.
But if them improve these services and push for more adoption of cashless policies before enforcing mandatory naira scarcity like CBN been do for February time, then e no go dey as bad as e been dey. But doing that without improving the core infrastructure that powers alternative (cashless alternatives) dey bad. Where I been dey for school, one time, I been wan pay bike, no cash. Bikeman no fit take transfer because their bank get network issue.
I go like fit use my naira cards to pay for goods and services outside the Nigeria jurisdiction. I don tire to give my BVN and ID docs to these third party card service providers because them wan fulfil KYC/AML requirements. If govt can make our cards work again now USD is unified across the board, na good deal IMO.

Them tok say you fit change reach $50,000 a say. I go happy if them go also allow us convert from Naira to dollar too but for now, that one never dey work.

Me I no go follow praise dem, I dey the exchange business so anytime wey you see an exchangers allow you to sell but not buy just know say dem get market elsewhere wey dem go cashout majorly from buying your dollars at a very cheap rate (although I never know the rate dem dey buy) but just know say higher market dey elsewhere so while una dey see am as good thing wey dem dey do. Because since you just said they haven't started offering their Naira to Dollar conversation, I don't see anyhow this will save people from fake dollar, since what is been done is digital banking (i.e changing of Dollar to Naira digitally & not physically "cash"). Or abi do we have fake digital dollar? Because by that statement "internet banking", it totally excludes physical cash, which is where fake dollars come into play.
But shah, na still better update, and eh go really make sense if they fit allow am dey vice versa.
