As a newbie to crypto mining I'm happy that I was able to build a rig myself with the information I gathered online most especially bitcointalk forum, I managed to set up 6 RTX3060 on my own, I just want to know if cranking GPU fan speed up to 80% safe for the GPU and it's fan? I don't want fan to die on the before getting my ROI back

Better to replace a fan then a burnt gpu.  80% is high but not end of the world (fan).  Fan quality varies greatly.  I try to stay below 70% but during the hotest part of the year some cards will spin faster.

I keep my cards at that level 80-83% during the hottest part of the year the end of spring and all the summer, during autumn and winter I keep at 60-65% which is considered safe by many.I have been running these fan settings since 2016 and out of about 30 cards I have owned during time one or two may have had problems with the fans, all others are still working perfectly so this setup should be sufficient for you to be safe.Newer cards like RTX 3060 have better cooling especially if you got the triple fan cards you can even go more down on the fan spin level.

80% fan speed isn't hurtful at all, few GPUs can get hotter in dry season so it's a must to turn up your fan speed, I have a friend you turn his Vega 56 rig fan up to 100%, they are too hot and that's a better way to cool them down a bit and this rig is been running for roughly 9months now, no fan dead issues

Remember, fans are a mining consumable.
I have video cards that work 90-100% in the summer.
If the fan breaks down, the warranty service will change it. If the warranty service does not work well in your country, you will install an alternative cooling yourself.
My worst fan worked for 14 months before the breakdown.

I always use an aggressive fan profile, I try to keep the GPUs around 70C on a hot day.
Place a high velocity box or pedestal fan in front of the rig. That will let you run the GPU
fans lower presumably entending their life.

Like others have said in this thread I would much rather have to replace a broken or burnt-out fan than a fried GPU. 80% is not terrible and I would set an aggressive fan curve if you are having trouble keeping temps low. Also, look into adding something that could push or pull airflow from your GPUs. Even a simple box fan could help move the hot air away and save you a few degrees.

80% fan speed is pretty high. If you have to set it this high to prevent your rig from overheating then you are better off positioning your GPUs further apart or get a big box fan and point it at your rig. If the fans don't do decent cooling at <75% fan speed, then going any higher won't do anything except burn your fan bearing and then you will need to replace it.

My advice is get a box fan and point it in the middle of the rig, if that doesn't work then get another one and get a push/pull configuration going and you are going to get some pressure and good airflow. Make sure your window is open and you got good ventilation in your place.

You'll have to try few other settings before you decide on the first setting you found on the internet. Fan speed is not the only setting you should look into. What's your TDP (Thermal design power)? You can set your TDP and let the fan on "auto" mode. My TDP was like 80% when I was mining crypto.

Your ROI depends on 2-3 things.

1- Crypto prices
2- Your electricity cost
3- Your hardware cost

If you can get the best deals on the 2nd and 3rd points, then it is likely that you'll get your ROI but still not 100%.

It's good to hear that you build a rig yourself, as a newbie it's kinda cool I will like to advice you to learn more about core Voltage, you can get lower power consumption reducing core Voltage (mV) and this will help reduce GPU temp as well

If I saw a photo of a mining farm, I would give some advice. You have 6 RTX3060 graphics cards, and I'm sure 80% is only on the latest graphics cards. Peppy video cards are usually the coldest.
It is necessary to increase the distance between the last video cards by 10-15 centimeters and install purge fans so that the last video cards are not cooled with hot air from the first video cards.

Hello django is safe running 80% fan, and dont guaranteed your fan will last longer, depend on humidity, temp, dust, and luck.   I'm running 99% fan 4 years from 8 gpus ref vegas, 5 die atleast around 2-3years, and the other still strong, on dual fan gpus is longer lifespan because they run lower rpm

No problems running your fan at 80% I have rx580 rig with 8x cards that runs too hot and I run their fan at 100% speed for two years, I sold the rig after making back my ROI and upgraded to other cards, it depends on the temp of your country, if it's high then you need to crank up your fan speed

This is how 5 year old video cards work after mining Ethereum. This is the maximum possible downvolt and overclocking, I can add more megahash, but I need stability.
I showed my old video cards here.
The fan speed of the graphics card depends on the quality of the cooling system.
If you save money and buy video cards with poor cooling, you will change the fans after 1-2 years.
But when there is such a profit, it doesn't matter.

Are those cards 4gb or 8gb? You should be able to lower the power down to 75watt using TeamRed miner cos in Nicehash miner I was able to use their low power mode to lower rx480 down to 70+ I'm sure it's possible using hiveOS too
