Hey Guys,
I hope you are all good and doing well.

I am new here to this forum, and new to mining in general.
I wanna ask you about Laptop mining.
So currently I am thinking of purchasing ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 GA503 model. The one that has Nividia 3060 RTX card.

Now I heard about the Nividia hash limiter and what so ever  Embarrassed. So is this limiter applies to Laptops cards as well? if so, what is the solution to this problem?  Huh
How many  MH/s should 3060 (Laptop version) produce without any limiter?

Note: I will not be using the laptop just for mining 24/7. But during like sleeping time or when I am not using the laptop for other stuff.

Thanks in advance.

The RTX 3060 of the laptop although a mobile card and not a desktop one is still capable of doing 48.99 Mhsh without any hash rate limiter.I haven't heard for hash rate limiters on Laptop PC-s as of yet so you can go ahead and try. However even with just a few hours of mining and not mining all day you will put your laptop at big risk because mobile GPU-s tend to overheat really fast compared to their desktop counterparts.

Thanks for your feedback sir,
Ok so can't I just buy some sort of special stand for better ventilation?
And Asus Rog laptops are kinda tuff and made for gaming. Don't you think they can survive mining?

I mined with an omen laptop and with a dell laptop.

about 40 days I decided it was a bad idea and stopped.

They survived the 40 days of mining.

Mining on laptops is not the best idea right now, because it can break down from overheating and will take a very long time to pay off.
Miners use the laptop 24 hours a day because they have a manufacturer's warranty.
If the miner's laptop breaks, he will contact the warranty service. If you work on a laptop during the day and mine at night, then you can lose your work computer and valuable data if you do not have time to save them.
Therefore, I would never use a laptop for work and mining.

I work as an IT support guy mostly with networking and servers but I have worked like many of the IT-s when they started out at the service center. From my experience there ASUS laptops are not better than others, sure the gaming laptops have better cooling in them yet still it is not designed to work 24 hours a day or even like 8 hours a day at 100% of its capacity.Even if you buy a laptop cooler they are designed to just cool down a little bit more the laptop cpu and fan in general,it won't do any good if you keep mining with your laptops.

I can confirm the ineffectiveness of laptop coolers. Everything about a laptop form factor is wrong for mining:
battery, cramped space, small ventilation holes, puny fan.

I don't know if it's possible but if extender cards exist you could use one to extend the GPU from inside the
case where it can get some air and doesn't overheat everything else inside. That would solve all the issues
of laptop GPU mining.

Mining with laptops is a bad idea unless you have a warranty and are okay with it being down for weeks or possibly for good. I have a few old laptops that have a 1060 in them right now that I was going to recycle but decided to see how long it would take to burn out. Its currently hashing about 24 Mh on ETH and has been running for almost a week now. Its incredibly hot but kind of surprised its lasted this long.

I googled some photos of this laptop and even though its called a "gaming" laptop I would becareful using it for mining. The only gaming laptops used for mining are perhaps those Alienware laptops which are twice the height of a regular gaming laptop. They got much better cooling and can withstand all the heat. The one you want to buy seems like it doesn't have the best heatsink and fans to disicpate the heat.

If you really still want to mine with this, my advice is at least remove the battery when mining. Because the high constant heat will cause it to eventually swell and in the rare case it might explode or leak onto you like with those old Samsung phones. Like others have said, a laptop is definately not designed for mining and a bad idea. Try and get an old RX 580 8GB GPU instead if you want to mine.

mostly samsung memory which is durable for mining, no limiter applied to laptop card
there is 2 model from rtx 3060 laptop :
6000mhz memory only maxout 38.5mhs with oc (83w whole system)
7000mhz memory maxout 48-49mhs with oc
before you buy, should check this memory speed, and every country maybe different
and yeah 6000mhz one can be flash to 7000mhz but fail to gain more in oc
i've been mining with this laptop for 3 months and got 0.2 eth, april-july, and already stop mining after to much difficulty spike & many layer 2 join the network
atleast 0.2eth if eth hit 5500$ my laptop already roi only 3 months back then, i bought at 1100$ msi series

these laptop mining is cooler than desktop card which is weird lol around 60c, and consume only 83w from the wall, that freaking whole system, a bit tricky mining on laptop you need msi afterburner with curve setting activated
and fan setting only manage by built-in application from the laptop itself, cannot override by 3rd party software

i must say rtx 3060 laptop is the most stable hardware in mining i ever had, beyond other desktop card, and the most simple configuration, specially for eth, its pretty cheap laptop with this time being compared gpu desktop

my advice you can mine this laptop with 500w solar + 3200w lifepo4 battery, off-grid

As far as I can tell LHR has nothing to do with laptops, even the latest gaming laptops of this year that came with 3060 has no limit, though I prefer desktop GPUs over mobile GPUs most especially for mining purposes, standalone GPUs will last longer than mining 24/7 on laptops

The GPUs found in the laptops will NEVER have any LHR type of GPUs because Nvidia knows that its not efficient to buy an entire laptop just to get the GPU out of it. Perhaps in some Dell gaming desktops they "might" add some LHR type of cards however I still doubt it. I don't think miners are going to be buying up entire laptops/desktops from computer stores just to mine with them. So these laptops and desktops are still going to be available for gamers.

The entire purpose of LHR was to limit the sale of GPUs from miners and more into the hands of the dedicated Nvidia gamers. They probably did some analysis and realised that not too many laptops are being hoarded by miners and they decided it wasn't worth the hassle of including LHR type GPUs inside actual laptops.

This LHR in my opinion is only temporarily. Once the chip shortage is over... once mining is over .... no GPUS will be LHR again. This is only to satisfy some gamers.

Many discussions here would tend to prove otherwise. I heard Nvidia is working on LHR V3. I'm not sure what that is
but it could include laptops.

Sounds like you're better off with buying a dedicated rig, unless your goal is just to play around and don't mind about the roi very much. If I were you and I'm serious about mining, I'd rather buy some gtx or polaris card and build my own rig, and if my budget is big enough maybe buy some rtx cards.
