i have 3 old cards rx470 4g msi which run hotter than my other cards at 75-76 c , is it safe or not as i run them on low TDP with this temps

Pretty safe after all they are still running 3 or 4 years later I think they are from 2017?

TDP does not mean much as temps trump it.

Lower TDP with good cooling lowers temps.

but if you pull 100 watts and are 85c

it is worse then if you pull 110 watts and are 75c.

=== bad cooling may be why if a 100 watt draw runs hotter then a 110 watt draw. =====

i changed the mining algorithm recently to kowpow then i started to experience this temps before this cards were running below 70 , so i asked because 70+ was not acceptable for me before

My rx580s runs as high as 60°C on continues mining, makes sure there are enough space between the cards and also change the thermal pads and tastes if possible, also speed up the fan like 70% or even 80%, the cooler the cards run the better.

i recently changed the thermal paste but the running environment is hot , i do move the air with fans but i can't afford AC as the electricity price is high this days

yeah kawpow is bit hot algo for some cards. Try set power limit from wattman i use -20 not loosing to much hashrate.

I ran some of the RX gpus at those temps and didn't have any issues. What I found was that if the temps go into the >80C areas it means you need to either improve airflow, move away from other GPUs, undervolt more, underclock more. Because running those GPUs at >80C is not ideal.

Do you have more than 3 of those RX series? Are the temps lower on all your cards but only hot on those 3? This is with the same algo? If 3 of them are running hot but the rest are fine, I think the fans might be bad. They might spin however they might spin at a slower speed than you think and hence why it overheats for some odd reason.

If you have MSI Armor, then that's okay, because they have a very poor cooling system.
I have several video cards operating at temperatures above 80 degrees, and in the summer the temperature was about 90 degrees.
Yes I have some invalid shares, but it doesn't bother me.
Install additional cooling, this will reduce a few degrees on each video card.

Which part of the world are you from? In summer none of my AMD or Nvidia GPUs goes over 60°C seeing yours at 90°C is surprising, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if my GPUs temp are over 70°C this is not a safe temp for 24hrs operation

75-76 celsius is not ideal, especially if you already under-volt your GPU. But it depends on where you are. I think maybe you are from Asia since your GPU temperature is quite high. It's common in SEA (for example) to get such a high temperature.

Not ideal means your GPU lifespan will decrease, but IIRC with the mentioned temperature, I still can use my mining GPU for 3/4 years. Over 80 degrees, the lifespan will rapidly decrease.

is safe assuming that core temp, carefully memory temp, mostly high temp will decreased lifespan vram, what your ambient temp?

msi has good quality board and vrm they used and good cooling system

If you have these RX series GPUs and you found that in the past they ran at ~70C and then all of a sudden they run at 80C then most likely the issue is the fans. NOT THE THERMAL PASTE. You look at the fans and they are spinning however if the bearing is weak, what happens it doesn't spin fast enough.

So you assume its the thermal paste, did the thermal paste job and you got the same issue. What helps is to swap the fans with a working GPU and see if the problem goes away. And you will find that it usually fixes the issue. Not all fans fail by stop spinning or making a grinding noise. Some basically don't spin as fast as they should and need to be replaced.

Russia
I bought these video cards from another miner a couple of years ago. Bios firmware leads to problems and freezes; during overclocking, the mining farm works stably for 1-2 hours.
If the temperature is more than 90 degrees, then the miner will turn it off.
I did a lot of experiments with these cards, but every time I was convinced that these values are the best, because the farm is stable.

My main target is keeping the cards below 70 if possible. Normally I can get them to run somewhere in the lower to mid 60s with good airflow around the cards. Pushing 70 sometimes if I am mininig RVN since mining those always pushing so much heat. Generally with proper airflow and modest OC running at 70 or below is not a big deal.

I'd rather lose few hashrates than to mine at a high temp, it's true that ravencoin takes more power than other algorithms but for longer lasting it's smart not to push them too high, moreover is ravencoin more profitable to mine right now on rx470 than ETH? Unless the rx470 is a 4gb version I don't see any reason to mine ravencoin over ETH

Every additional 10 degrees cuts the life of the memory chips in half.
