Hi! I do this question on other section: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5359985.new#new

I have 60.000€ to spend on few asic miners with a near to 0 cost for electricity , but i don’t know wich ones is better to choose and wich coin choose to mine. I suppose mine Ethereum can be the best choose for now really?

What do you do in my case? I wish start with the project on october

Thanks a lot!  Smiley Smiley

Do not buy ASICs for Ethereum mining, because Ethereum mining will end soon.
Buy ASICs for Bitcoin or Litecoin mining.
But as far as I know, all ASICs in factories are already sold out, so you will have to buy ASICs from dealers with a large margin.
I'd rather buy farms from video cards, or wait until the end of Ethereum mining, and then buy cheap video cards.
Now is not the best time to invest in mining.

some people says ethereum always says the same. A promise that next ethereum be 99% less expensive in electricity. Did you think is true?

When it comes to ASICS they are more or less the same. They all cost similar for the amount of profit they generate. One thing you need to consider before you jump in is that there is something called difficulty which keeps the supply capped.

So say you buy some ASICS and they generate $100 a day at $50000 BTC price. However one thing you need to consider is that in the future if 10% more people start to mine BTC like you, you will make 10% less. So instead of $100 a day you will make $90.

Make sure you are aware of this.

If this is true why did innosilicon go with all that trouble and still build latest ETH ASIC miners? I'm talking about the A10PRO, they knew that ETH team are a joke and the POW algorithm isn't going away so soon

Buy an ASIC and you will be stick with one algorithm forever, for example if it's scrypt ASIC you will have to mine only scrypt algorithm coins

Buy GPU and you are free from ASIC restrictions, GPUs works on many ASICS available, from Ethash to kawpow, autolykos2, cryptonight and many more

Truth is there are few Ethash coins left and if ETH goes dead today your ASIC won't be profitable because no other Ethash coin is very profitable like kawpow or autolykos2 (ergo)

I think that is because all ASIC producers including Bitmain,Innosilicon and others don't really care much about the end users they sell their products to.They use the ASICS a lot for themselves (supposedly for testing) squeezing out a lot before shipping them out and that is why I think they still build an Ethereum miner, they don't care what happen with the difficulty,if the Ethereum moves to PoS which would end mining so that is why they build it.

There are many pros and cons for both.

Sure GPUs are better because you can move to a different algo or sell to some gamer or some Youtube Vloggers however they aren't perfect.

Its easy for a young person to get a few GPUs and build a few rigs, however for less technical people ASICs are easier. All you need to do with an ASIC is basically plug in the PCIe connectors, and set up your pool in config and you are set for a few months.

GPUs take forever to set up, you get more crashes, and they take up more room. Sometimes they crash in a way where you need to do a hard reset. Which is different if you don't live with the GPUs are held.

I think Ethereum will switch to the POS algorithm in the next 6 months.
Therefore, I suggested that you consider a universal option - a video card. Video cards will still be valid for many years, and in 1 year you can recoup about 50% of the investment or more.
Despite the fact that the ASIC is easier to maintain, but the video cards have a 3-year warranty.

I think Ethereum will switch to the PIC algorithm in the next 6 months.

PIC algo? Is that a typo? Haven't heard of it. Did you mean POS. Because a few years back they were suppose to switch to ProgPOW and basically after months and months of debate and going back and forth. And after hundreds of thousands of dollars wasted on coding, developement, testing and audits. They didn't go along with it.

I dont' think they will switch to any algo. They were going to switch and many of the ETH maxis got upset that they devoted time and money on switching the algo when they should of just moved to POS. Their reasoning was that ASICs weren't a threat for a 51% attack and they left it at that. SO unless there is some fast ASIC that comes out, they wont switch the algos.

GPU is more easier to maintain than ASIC miners, think about the possibility of when something goes wrong, you can't swap components with ASIC miners, if they got any problems you have to return back to sellers and doing that will cost you time and money, with GPU you just have to remove the bad eggs from the list and continue mining.

Thank you, I fixed the error.
I think that buying a newbie Bitmain Antminer L7 9500 MH / s is not worth it. The breakdown of such an ASIC will lead to large losses.
Therefore, I prefer video cards for $ 500-1500.

Well i have around 100 gpus and consider them to be,something a miner should have.

as to L7 it has a big upside and a big down side.

so taking a flyer on one is not that bad.

If one have to buy ASIC miners for mining it should be the cheap ones not the latest ASIC like a10pro innosilicon, you have to think about it's advantages and it's disadvantages as well, I can buy used S19 and feel relaxed simply because of its price but not a10pro that costs thousands of dollars but still GPUs wins cos they are easier to replace or fix

When a miner has 100 video cards, he can afford to buy an ASIC for $ 15,000. But a beginner shouldn't start by buying such expensive equipment. Any breakdown will result in huge losses.
If the user is a small miner, then of course it is better to mine on video cards, because ASICs quickly become cheaper and quickly become obsolete. And every year new models appear.

Hello, sorry for hijacking the thread, but I think my question is kinda relevant.
I'm thinking of buying my first asic, where do you guys buy from? I want to buy a D7 but the official antminer site is out of stock. I found this https://bitmainexpress.com/shop/antminer-d7-1286gh-s-x11-asic-miner/ , has anyone had past experience with this seller as to vouch for them? Don't wanna get scammed

edit: upon googling i saw a lot of scam accusations. Can someone suggest reputable sources to buy from?
