Continuously Loosing money in Trading!!!!

          I am doing Trading since last 3 to 4 years And in this journey i have seen many updowns(profit and losses), But recently from few weeks i am loosing  my money continuously with the same strategy  i have been using since last 2 years. I don't know what happened to me. So please anyone can guide me through this situation, it will be very helpful for me.

If there was one set and forget trading strategy, everybody would be rich by now. Since trading is a zero-sum game, no matter what strategy you use, somebody has to be poor so somebody else can be rich. That means, you should update your strategy over time. The markets will get smarter and your strategy will get dumber as the time passes. That's  why you are losing money now.

It was easy making money in the last 3 years or so because we came out of the bear market from $3K. However the past couple of months, its been difficult and its not because we are in a bear market but because we are trading sideways. The real money in the last few months was in the DeFI and NFT. Thats where the Tik Tok millionaires were created, not by trading bitcoin or ethereum.

The reason why you are losing is because there is chop and its hard to tell which direction bitcoin will go. It was easy before because all you had to do was long and you would of most likely had a winning trade. However right now its hard to tell what will happen. I am hoping that $42K will hold as support but I am also worried about $50K being strong resistance. So until we clear those values, we can't be sure which way the trend is at the moment.

May be you did not update yourself with the current methodology of trading and new theorems which are always upgraded as more data is captured and behavioural stuff is studied by the experts. Trading is simple how much knowledgable you are about the project, about the methods and new ways to trade the same. One thing for sure, if you know all the technical analysis theorem's then there is good amount of chance that you won't loose in the process. I am no hard trader, and never tried it myself. I always rely on few of my friends who has studied the trading methods in professional tuitions and I have seen sudden in change in them. They have started to talking the stuff which is not in English for me. Lolz! The words, the methods, theorem names, there is huge ocean of things that makes up good trade.

I am not sure what were you when you started and how much you have updated yourself with the new market trend.

Probably the market dynamism has changed which prompted your working strategy to fail, of course there is no perfect working strategy or Holy Grail, the best bet is to retweak your strategy if is an indicator based strategy or mainly candlestick patterns after the readjustment try and demo trade or use a stimulator to test it to avoid losing real money, after several consistent profit making while demoing thereafter you can go back to live trading, starting with a small fund while growing your confidence and making profits.

If this strategy won't work, leave it, because it will never give you a profit. One to two mistakes is enough and there is no continuous losing money.
There's a lot of changes if we compared back then (2-3 years passed) before there's too many people who manipulate the market but now as I can see, it is not easy to manipulate because it needs huge cash before you can successfully be doing it.

For now, the market price flow depends on the market news, not on the technical analysis, not like before. Bay doping this, you should have a stop-loss strategy to avoid continuous losing and focus in your trading plan, nothing else.

Same here. I leave from trading for more than 4 years. Daytrading, scaping, even algo trading with arbitrage and MM strategies coded by me. But I lost a decent bag during 52-43k dump and i'm loosing now trying to trade altcoins which pump right after my sell. My worse month starting from 2020. What I do? i just step back. For 2 weeks for the beggining. Why? Because market has to be in crucial reversal point with lots of uncertainity and is simply untradable. When I was starting trading i met trader with 30 year experience. He told me - If you want to trade technical check if asset is moving in a technical way currently. Sometimes emotions on market are that big (or few big players are fighting) than all we can do is just sit and watch.
Just step back, chill your emotions, accept the loss that you have already generated (so that the emotions associated with wanting to recover loss do not incline you to open too risky positions) and come back after a week or two.

Perhaps the strategy is outdated. Try something new. That's all the reason I could think of.
You are an experienced trader and you might also be proud of what you have made out of the same strategy that's why you don't want to let go of it.
How about try some round with an experimental strategy and see if you will have a different output.

• Try to do your own research and choose good cryptocurrencies for your portfolio

• If you choose shit altcoins, you do not invest but you do gamble.

Some said two, others three, some four etc. In your situation from OP, it seems you have been on a very long loosing streak, in your heart, you don't need a prophet to tell you  you need to take a break from trading and re-examine your strategy.

While re-examining your strategy, try to single out the reason/reasons why your strategy started failing, and then start making changes from there. Don't be in a hurry to start trading again, take your time to absorb and observe your new strategy without entering a trade, the market is going no where. If you hurry back, you hurry back to loosing.

Above stats are for general trading but it holds true for crypto trading also. Although there is no exact figure available about how many traders end up in loss, roughly its estimated that 80% of traders end up losing there money. There are various reasons for that like lack of knowledge, greed of becoming rich overnight etc.
Its better to go for long term trading (Hodling) there are bright chances of doubling, tripling your money.

Change is the most constant battle,  it is very easy to sit on our past succeses and continue to do what we are use to and expect different results!  I will advice that you take a break and re-strategize.  Never use your past experiences to trade the present market,  there might be trend but it will not play out exactly like the last time. If you have been making money in the past and also losses, it means you may have done the right things at that point and if you have made more profit than losses then, it also means you had a working strategy. The point is every trader encounters losses too.

To this other side of your worry about consistent losses. I want to point out two things that may have been the cause.

1. Either you have left your winning strategy totally or partially. You can check your indicators and there parameters to be sure they are in the measures you think they are.

2. Either the market is changing and playing smart on your strategy. In trading, there are times your indicators are at the mercy of market, you can't understand what is happening then. The solution to this is to take a break and rest for weeks

The bad thing is not when you lose your capital because bad trades, but it is when you lose all capital and profit after you already win too big. It is nightmare and you will not accept it.

Did you leverage? If you are leveraging, then do not leverage again, you will gain. Trading has to also still do with patience, there are times your analyses may not be accurate, but if you do not leverage, your liquidation price will be at the highest. I believe if you are patient like this even during wrong analyses, the market will still correct itself in a way you will not lose but later gain.

Also do not use shitcoins, if you have been using good coins like bitcoin, you may be winning, but if you just started to choose the same analyses of the best with shitcoins, it is very possible someone will lose which is not because of the analyses but the coins taken.

3-4 years experience should be more than enough if you learn from your mistakes, we have similiar time experience but now i'm already could control my emotion when the market is not good enough.
I think you should evaluate in every trade you made or every loss you made, read a lot of crypto news and learn the basic technical chart reading and don't get controlled by your own emotion but you are controlling your own emotion. Hope you get less losses a head

Don't know what happen to you but if you see constant changes happening on the market maybe you should change your strategy and also crypto market is so unpredictable so you need to adopt the changes happening on the market so that you can possibly earn. Well if you were always earning money I'd reckon there's something wrong with the market you're trading in or it's that you're just damn good at market analysis and pretty lucky as well. One of the probable reason for this must be, the ever-changing market fluctuations and tough competition among traders might be making your strategy inefficient. So, you're not alone but you need to reduce your lot sizes or must need to stop your trading for some time temporarily.

Probable solutions:

Loosing money here cryptocurrency is unavoidable, in short it will always be a part an as an individual traders. Not all the time price in the market is always up, just like what in the present now most of the price value is in downtrend, where the thing we can only do for now is to hold until the price goes up again. If i get lose streak, i will take a rest. Because sometimes market is unpredicted although we already learn some strategies and use it. Usually when doing trading we should know how to do some improvisation. I hope you know that market situation changes and during bull run, it's always better to hold than been a trader, you will loose big profits because its this time we have mad profits in few days, going with holding than trading would be better and again, if you are actually trading altcoins, it is better you scalp them and forget the minor support and resistance, though the major support and resistance should be noted.

It is really involving trial and error and this is a must thing because this is where you do really make yourself improve throughout your trading career.Lossing in consecutive manner is something that everyone do experience but doesnt mean that you would need to quit up.

When you trade, you are open to profits and losses of course. But if you do trading and just keeping losses within that 2 long years, i must say its very alarming already. There is something wrong with how you trade or the strategy you are using. Try to work on it and definitely change your strategy and observe if it will change your status. The highlighted line above was right and I tend to agree, why do you keep using your strategy if you keep losing on it.  Continuous losing isn't good at all, you might take a break and do your assignment of researching a good and new strategy that you can use and observe how effective it is, sometimes making a trial and error makes us becomes perfect but in a mistake of 1 or 2 is enough for us to learn.  The important thing is to learn from your mistake and don't let them happen again.

The answer lies in your question. You said you are using the same strategy from the past 2 years.
What strategy works in a bull market might not work in a bear market and vice versa.
The same strategy won't work in all the market trends. As time goes by different players enter the market and so we have to keep changing our strategy if it isn't working for us.
Also, the past few weeks were not so good for the whole market since bitcoin kept falling from $50k to $40k.

Trading strategies aren't holy grails, with changing markets and changing circumstances, they change, you should analyze what has changed in markets that have made your strategy useless, is it the shift in momentum? or is it the changing volumes or is it some problem or tweaking in your executing that has changed? What I feel is that trading strategies have to be changed with the shift in market momentum, a strategy that worked in a bull run might not work in the bearish phase of the market, while you should continuously tweak your strategy as per market keep two-three different strategies at all times, so that you aren't relying heavily on just one strategy.

If your strategy is not working then its time to change your strategy and its never advisable to apply the same strategy to different market condition, you have to adapt to the current market situation and trade according to that. If you are still having hard time at finding the profits then just take a break and redefine your strategies and also let your mental strength to recover from bearing all the losses.

If you had been losing money since last 2 years even with the same strategy now that made you money some 3–4 years ago, it only points to the fact that your outlook on cryptos is bearish. Yes, you've to see the long term trend of any asset you want to trade before you trigger it. You've to begin to trade them for longs, at least till the end of this 2021 through the first quarters of 2022 when the speculations favour a bull rally. Be mindful taking shorts. If I were you, I would totally avoid taking shorts even if it seems it's dipping. Another thing, review your trading plan. Losing money in trading is not really a shocking situation. There are two options available, you either lose money or you earn money. So, it is really not shocking that you ended up losing money. I personally do not make much from trading neither, my investments are good but when you check my trading it is probably at a loss overall, and I have been here for nearly 8 years so losing money for that long of a time when it was just 100-150 bucks then eventually became 64k is the proof that not everyone should trade.

I still do because I like it, and there were moments I made a very good return as well, but also had moments I had a lot of bags as well. Just turn your trading into investment for a while, you will feel better.

This is a very positive and encouraging response. I think the first question that comes to my mind is if you actually backtested your strategy to see if it was profitable? If you did and you know for a fact that the strategy that you are using is profitable then this could be nothing more but a small inconvenience that will eventually end and this means that you do not have anything to worry about, you just need to be patient, but if you never tested your strategy then you need to stop trading now and do so because you do not want to trade the markets with a strategy that doesn't generate profits.

While not wrong at the same time people need to remember to backtest their strategies all the time, after all there are many people with countless strategies but they do not have any idea if their strategies actually work, so it is better to only have one strategy that you have actually backtested than to have multiple strategies that you do not know if they are profitable or not, however if you can have both and you have several strategies while at the same time you have backtested each one of them and you know they are successful then that is the ideal scenario, because that way you can use the strategy that better fits the market at the moment.

What I mean there is some strategy that is much better to the current market and there are some strategy that is bad for the current market but good in the other market, my suggestion is don't limit yourself to one strategy. Sometimes the strategy has nothing to do with the reason why people lose money, in the past I have seen successful traders claiming that they could publish their strategy to make money in the markets and that almost no one will follow it, but why? That's pathetic but you can take a break. I guess you must be under pressure to recover your lost funds which is eventually leading to more loss.  Try and keep your emotions under check.

Never fight the market, if you notice a change in your trading journey, then take a break and go for more knowledge.

Many things might be responsible for your present losses and one of it could be over familiarity with your strategy. Some things are not really meant to be, if OP can't make any progress no matter what he do, the only conclusion that I'm thinking is that OP is not suited for it, because if OP will continue to do Trading just because of his losses, he will definitely lose more money. On the positive side, at least OP tried and look for another way to earn money that suit his style.

Analyze more is the key and your knowledge should continue to grow especially getting the updated trend and using that you can be more effective in trading. The strategy that you have years ago might not work right now so better to have a new up and always be updated, losing is normal but if its consistent you must have a new strategy, just keep trading effectively because if you lose big better not to trade at all.
