Can I suggest you scrub all of your personal information from your posts. Whether real or not, there's a decent chance asking people not to engage with you won't work. It's also fairly easy for users to slip up and provide more information than they intend to, especially if you are indeed a minor.

Thanks for the advice, none of my posts have personal information and I have made sure of that. I reported the user to theymos and I hope they and their ip gets banned. We dont need people like him on this forum.

You received a PM from this guy on bitcointalk?  I usually wouldn't ask for a PM to be posted in a thread, but in a case like this where you're kinda-sorta accusing him of trying to "groom" you, I think you should.  It sounds like he specifically mentioned your age, and I'd like to know in what context he did that. 

This is the first time I've seen anything like this, likely because this forum isn't exactly the place where a pervert would be looking for underage boys.  Not saying it couldn't happen, but I'd want more info before making a judgement against excro.  Never heard of him before, either.

Thank you for stating that more strongly than I wanted to.  I hate to say it, but just based on what OP wrote it seems like a giant leap to think that because of a single PM someone is "grooming" him.  That's also why I want to see the PM, but I'm not even sure if OP is going to come back to this thread.  It is indeed a serious accusation.

Ugh.  OP, that's the kind of stuff you might not want to post anywhere on the internet, and I'm not even talking about attracting perverts (though that's part of it).  If you're at school daydreaming about being online gambling, I'd say you've got a problem that needs to be dealt with sooner rather than later--plus I'm pretty sure it's not legal for you to be gambling at your age.  You're just going to attract all sorts of negativity, and your words written on this site are permanently linked with you if someone knows your real identity.  I don't even want to know how you get money to gamble.

It could be a red flag but nothing is violated because after all, it's a piece of public information now. What could happen in discord is still about to happen. It'd be interesting how things will be.

Wow. That’s incredibly creepy. I never thought we had to worry about predators combing these boards, but it is apparently happening and likely has been for some time. I guess as the community grows, so do the problems as more of society’s riff raff finds their way into our beloved online gathering place.

Let me state a few things, I am taking measures to scrub personal information from my posts. Mistakes were made. As for the gambling, I have since quit and it was never with money that wasnt mine. It is never OK to steal money to gambling or at all.

So if the user who contacts you through PM is right means somehow your private information has leaked. Either from the forum or some other platform where you have been using the same username or details. Since you report it to the admin, then the account would get a temporary ban, depends on the PM contents. And from now on you should be careful with your privacy. If it's exposed then you would face a similar issue in near future as well. I don't think we can help you much on that case.

It looks like (I presume) theymos removed the OP's post from that thread, edited the OP to reflect that a "guest" made the thread, and edited the posts quoting the OP to be quoting a "guest" account. I was able to review the thread in question via alternative means.

I have previously seen the OP as being fairly immature but did not see him as being as young as he claims to be.

I don't see any legitimate reason for someone to be claiming to be the age the OP claimed to be in the relevant thread. There is an argument to say it should be against the rules to claim to be under a certain age threshold, probably somewhere between 16 and 18 due to the type of people this tends to attract. Regardless of one's age, this forum is generally not a good way to meet someone IRL, due to security concerns, regardless of your age, as someone you meet may do serious harm to you in trying to learn your private keys/seed.

not somehow. the OP mentioned his age himself on the two threads he created on the gambling board. anyway, I checked both threads today and both of them have been edited by theymos to show the creator of the thread as a guest with a different username.

In addition, we can say that since the OP is very young, but registered on an adult forum, he must understand that he needs to grow up, and not complain about every personal message that came to him personally. Mom's not here. The fact that the OP created a similar topic already suggests that he understands that something that happened badly. So why not just ignore the person who sent him the message, or refuse to receive messages altogether, since he is still so small? Has the Internet always been secure?
I see it as a "The problem is created out of a thin air." OP, grow up, there are many bad uncles and aunts in the world, just don't hang out with strangers. I think your parents told you about it?



By the way, you don't need to go anywhere in search of his age, just look at his neutral trust. I think that since the Admin has deleted information about him in the topic, it would be worthwhile to delete this neutral review.

IP-bans are pretty useless, and it looks like the user wasn't banned either.

Since you're aware of it, it's easy to ignore. The risk is for children who aren't aware.

That being said: you shouldn't "advertise" online that you're doing illegal things (violating Stake's Terms by underage gambling, whether it's true or not).

The term "adult forum" suggests something else. I'd say Bitcoin has no age limits, even though many exchanges think differently.

Absolutely right, and I also agree with you that there should probably be a rule against declaring oneself to be a minor (though the definition of "minor" varies widely).  I don't think this forum has ever had a problem with sexual predators, and I'd still like to see that PM that was sent to OP, but better safe than sorry IMO.  Maybe Theymos could create a new rule about that.

That is both false and ridiculous. You created your account 6 years ago, you were not born 6 years ago. The purpose of my proposal is to prevent preditors from coming to the forum, the value of which far exceeds playing dumb word games.

A rule against posting that someone is under 16 or 17 would prevent the worst predators from wanting to come to the forum. The age the OP claimed to be is especially young, and if people come to the forum looking for kids the age the OP claims to be on any kind of regular basis, it is going to lose a lot of valuable members, as most people do not want to be associated with a place that attracts that kind of people, and depending on how bad things get, the forum could get shut down and/or PMs could end up in the hands of law enforcement in mass.

There is no reason to be claiming that you are a young child, just as there is no reason to be contacting someone because they are a young child.

I think the method you suggest is definitely one way to look at the situation, for the OP to grow and be tough but they are still a child.

I think the best course of action for now would be to advise the OP to seek some sort of help by speaking to an adult family member or a school teacher to address the gambling issue. It seems a child is gambling using crypto and it is not either a priority or concern to members of the forum and that cannot be right.

What is the official age limit here to register an account? If anybody knows please post here.
