I'm definitely not against vaccine promotion, however, I'm not sure if that's the right way. Instead, there should be a campaign presenting its health benefits, not only as an individual, but also as a community, a high vaccination percentage means less cases, less deaths and in the end, less austerity measures.

This lottery is consisted of 1139 prizes, some are weekly draws, some monthly etc, providing each participant 4 winning chances. Doesn't sound much of a great deal to me.

Something similar also occurred in Greece, young people aged from 18-24 were given a prepaid card with 150€ in balance, only to be used for the tourism sector. With or without incentives, I was vaccinated, not because I wanted the prepaid card, but because it's what's required for this pandemic to end.

Social media are full of fake news, and educating people might take more time so the government have to think for a faster way and an effective way to encourage people from getting their vaccines, and I see this kind of promotion as a good one. Vaccine is not just for ourselves but also for people around us, get your vaccine now and have a chance to win some of the prizes.

To be honest, I am not fully vaccinated yet because I am afraid of the brand of the vaccine that is currently available.
Is there any brand of the vaccine mentioned by the article of what it is? I am looking for a Pfizer brand which is I have heard and based on my research this vaccine has a good result other which is this vaccine is rare for now. However, this is a great opportunity that is given to others and the prize was really having an effect on the price.

I am okay with this promotion as some people may be encouraged to take their shot. But should not be given to only one person, if they can distribute their high prize to several people. At least the beneficiaries of this money is not only benefited by one single person but it can help more people. But anyway, it really depends on their government's program when it comes to this initiative. They know their people better so hopefully they can design an effective program that will accomplish their targets.

I see it isn't a bad idea to encourage people to get vaccinated , maybe more government may do same but definitely not countries that don't support gambling.

And there may be disadvantage for underage.

I do not know the details of this particular lottery at Romania but past lotteries that had the purpose to increase the number of people vaccinated have given scholarships to those that are underage as well, which is great for them as most of the time you do not want to give so much money to someone so young and at the same time they do not feel as if they are being left out by the government when they do something like this.

I saw a thread before here that there is a country that has a prize for those who had vaccinated, it is a good program to motivate their people to be vaccinated and as we saw, there are already millions of people that have been vaccinated already, so there is nothing to worry.
Here is my place, there is a province that has a vaccination lottery too, but the prize is a big cow that could be used by them for any purpose.

There's lottery or not i would really still get to be vaccinated because this isnt only talking about money but rather your safety or protection against the virus even though it isnt really that 100% effective but at least

The government of any country has always been vocal about the benefits of getting a vaccine. The problem is, people are still hesitant despite those good reasons. That's why lots of attempts were made to convince them to the point that even involving a chance to join a lottery. A good move but there are "better" perks that people can benefit from for a long.

There's no mention in the article but I think brand is not necessary as long as people there will be vaccinated. Regardless of the brand, as long as done with complete dose, are all eligible in the lottery.

Results vary per person's health. It was subjective. We can't really talk about "comparisons" here between brands.

Any form of encouragement is the right way. It's impossible that the government is not presenting a campaign showing benefits why everyone needs to be vaccinated. It was always posted on social media, health websites, and some advertisements. The campaign drive showing those benefits is not effectively leading the government to think of a way and a lottery is one of them.

Why the offer should be a great deal? You have mentioned with or without incentives, you are vaccinated and that should always be the case.

Yes I think this kind of games are a really strong incentive to vaccinate people. The game theory teaches us that people like to do things that can bring profits to them.

There will be for sure another country that will start to like this vaccination drive that has a lottery ticket after getting the shot. It's a chance and as well being protected from the virus.
It's a way to encourage their people that all of them has to be vaccinated but not everyone will take it.

I think it was Poland although I am not sure on USA that they also have one, can't remember US having one but I am sure about Poland having one. With so many people dying from COVID-19, I believe all countries are educating their citizens about the benefits of vaccines. Because the only best
way right now to prevent the spread of the virus, it must be done with a vaccine. But the problem is that there are also a lot of misleading news spread,
which says the harmful side effects on the body after the vaccine in the long term. This is what finally makes some people are affected and choose to
refuse vaccination. Therefore, the government is doing various ways to convince the population to want to be vaccinated. One of them is giving lottery

This has become widespread. It might be effective to a certain extent. But it would be best to actually educate people on the health benefits of vaccines rather than on the possibility of winning a lottery. It is best if people are getting vaccinated because in doing so they are making themselves immune from the virus and removes the possibility of becoming a carrier of the virus and possibly getting others infected. This might become a precedent that if the state wants something from the people, a reward system has to be used.

For the government, it makes sense. Given the inflated healthcare costs in the United States, it is better to give out $100 to those who vaccinate, rather than spending $200,000 or $300,000 on someone who gets admitted to the ICU as a result of COVID. For the alcoholics and junkies, this amount is enough to fund a week of their habit. Don't think that anyone else will bother about it in the United States. But this amount is like the average monthly salary where I live. Here if there is such an offer from the government, then you will find half the population queued up outside the vaccination center.

Vaccination lotteries are an insult to people's intelligence.
Do they think that the people are retards?No lottery can incentivize me to vaccinate.I will vaccinate when I'm sure that the vaccines are effective and there's a real threat for my health due to the coronavirus.

I agree.The people don't trust the government and the healthcare system.Diving them "small candies" won't help.However,I don't think that forced vaccination will start,at least not in my country.
