I have been watching this phenomena happen for almost 2 years now. What they do is that they hack someone's channel with a decent amount of subscribers, ideally channels with a verified badge to make it more legit. Then they change the name, the avatar, and delete all previous videos, then they start running a loop of videos of interviews, usually assorted scammers such as Vitalik Butterin, Charles whatever (the guy from Cardano), the guy from LINK... all these shitcoins. They also use notorious Bitcoin bulls like the guy from Microstrategy. They run live streams with addresses where you send money and double your money, a giveaway, or the classic scam routine. These guys are making a ton of money given the amount of views and channels they manage to hack. They even use Elon Musk:

Has Youtube given up on trying to fix this madness? I know that Youtube is going to force 2fa on all creators starting November so that's the only hope to see these scams go down in numbers, but im afraid 2fa will not be enough.

It's such an older way and it's also now a common scamming trick too.I have been watching these types of scams from last 2 years.
Beside YouTube scams recently Bitcoin.Org also scammed a big amount by offering instant double Return.

Youtube became a sh*tshow years ago when they decided to remove all manual moderation and replace it with algorithm technology, of course this was done to save them money from having the staff to manually review things. People need to learn not to blindly trust social media and that is true every single day, it happened on Twitter as well - so-called celebrities in the past had accounts hacked and requested money sent to a certain address for these "doubler" scams. Greedy people think it must be true, when even a single shred of common sense should tell them it is a lie. In a way, I have little sympathy for those who jump on these "offers" when they should know better, but I do agree that providers like Youtube do nowhere near enough to police the content on their websites.

Everywhere where a lot of money can be made, there are such scams and fraud attempts. Youtube is known for not putting any limits on these types of videos, as many also fall under free speech. In general, I would not believe any Youtube regarding crypto, because it is only about clicks and not about real knowledge transfer. Accordingly, some questionable statements are made.

Imagine who knows how many people are tricked into sending a certain amount of BTC to the address shown. It's a shame they are just people who are weak in knowledge in Crypto and are tempted by the characters they admire. In fact, if they think about it for a long time, it will be very suspicious for a person who is rich in taste to ask for a donation of some Bitcoin. I often find videos like this on the YouTube channel and it looks like the scammers are really skilled at designing live shows that look like real.

Right, the best thing is to report this to youtube so that no one will fall for this trick. Some of those who promote this scam is a hack account too, so that's a double whammy. And not just youtube, but other top social media as well are now being targeted by this crypto criminals. There's no free money or double your money here, and even those who are billionaires in crypto are not going to give this so called giveaways so everyone needs to be very careful.

I don't think 2FA is gonna be enough though, especially to those channels that can easily be hacked, channels that has 1m or 2m subscribers, these hackers end up redoing the whole channel's content and then broadcast a fake livestream of them giving away Bitcoins or even their own token, the sad thing here is that these viewers are not knowledgeable or literate enough to identify that this is a huge scam, what's even sadder here is that YouTube does not seem to prioritize these kinds of reports, unless they get mass reported by multiple users, this kind of scam has been going out for years now, you can see that YouTube doesn't care that much.

It is expected of everyone investing to have undergone through a rigorous research and develop a credible level of trust before doing any form of online business.

What they do is termed "imposting" they try to claim whom and what they are not, deleting every record on the victim's hacked account, what a pity, YouTube does not verdict any legal action against such as its a viewers base discretion, but i hope the accounts be quickly noticed and reported ASAP.

Things like this is what gives room to painting crypto a dirty game, as its not regulated makes it had to trace the perpetrators, but guess what, if YouTube truly want to place a track on them it could be achieved because dey have the records of all the IPs address on each account.

The best thing to do when we see such scam videos is report them to youtube in hope it could be  takedown asap so no one victims who would fall to this kind of trap.
IMO, forcing 2fa security on all creators account would not totally stop crypto scam on youtube environment, it just a step to prevent hacking attempts and abusing youtube channel.

They really are experts at committing scams like this. Using youtube media with videos of CEOs of big exchanges like CZ Binance and influential people in crypto.
They are even able to hack youtube channels with millions of subscribers and then use them to live stream the videos they make as if they were holding a giveaway.
People who are tricked into sending a certain amount of bitcoins or other altcoins are people who are completely unwary and very newbies. Maybe out of 100% crypto users only 2% can fall into the trap.

I want to tell you that implementing 2fa from will not gonna make big difference. Youtube can only take actions after getting report on a content or video. Its not like that they are running promotions through YouTube and YouTube authority is not filtering the promotion. This idiots are just running live from purchase or hacked account to steal peoples money. I don't think anyone can stop you if you start a live and suddenly show people a bitcoin deposit address in your hand.

Actually its all depend on viewers and they are the decision maker here. If they start running after seeing unrealistic earning method then no one can stop them from getting scammed. Yeah its true that YouTube authority can make the way narrower for this type of scammers but that's not gonna be a complete solution. Investors will have to think twice before seeing something like this and reducing the level of greediness is only way here.

They are doing this because people are still falling for it. It takes an effort to gain such huge number of subscribers, at least a good amount of money.
After multiple reports, Youtube is actually taking down these channels but they get enough gullible people to send them money.
They uses are real looking channel name and a real video with the fake offer on text. I'm so tired of reporting these video that now I have concluded that anyone stupid enough to send their coins to them deserves to lose it.
