Well this is good video.

First off Shame on you for working on a hot panel.

Had to get that out of the way.

Your face healed nicely.

As for hot panel work I did a 220 volt 30 amp circuit move on my right hand .  damn a completely different shock then a 120 volt.

I imagine the panel you  flash arced was a 480 volt 400 amp?

Back to everyone reading learn from him and do not take risks with power.

I no longer do any 220 work other than a few circuits in my own home 🏡 which i triple check to be dead when i work on them.

If you are not a licensed electrician with experience in doing commercial/industrial power then hire one! This safety video on on arc flash was using a 230v 200a panel and very graphically shows what can happen. FF to the 2 min mark for the horrendous fireworks. At 4 min into the vid they test what happens if your PPE is not fireproof... That test was ran with SCC (Short Circuit Current) limited to 10kA - the same level most homes are limited to.

Commercial/industrial panels are usually rated for SCC 100kA or more. Another vid is here where they are using 480V industrial panels.

we have a lot of panels at the farm.  buy the warehouse owner has a high power specialist that does all the heavy wiring.

 We have 3 x 240 3 phase panels they do  800 amps max

we have a second room with 11x  30 amp 240 3 phase breakers

I simply leave them alone basically due to movies like you just shown and due to the video by the op.

arc won't form easily on 220v, what voltage is he operating? maybe he grounded himself?

i do 220v live from time to time, i just react with AAAAAAAAAAARRRGGHH shake my hand/arm/elbow/shoulder and then proceed. better then a cup a coffee or tea LOL

hmm..i think he is working with an energized circuit (heavily loaded/high amps).

Glad you are ok mate, this is why I always warn people in my city to avoid building mining farm themselves, some find it hard to pay a qualified personnel and they take matters in their own hands, a qualified personnel will sense any danger and they use the best equipments for their builds, God bless

having load or just simply plugged devices will turn the ground wire to electric sucking wire, now you have two wires in there ready to harm you instead of one (this is for single phase only)

the arc was due to having load while tinkering with the box, basically like welding.. live to ground with voltage and high amps then a spark from the arc.

Glad you are ok and survived.  Power is no joke but you know this up close and personally.
Never work on energized panels / outlets / rigs.  This is just asking for trouble.

Respect power it is very predictable and will always bite you if you dont.

About the last line..yes, but i would like to emphasize the spark/explosion because that is huge enough to hurt you with heat.

Welding electrode is low voltage and high amps, hot panel is high voltage and high amps(if high load), i don't know the comparison between iron, copper and other materials in the panel box during ignition. but power is power..

P = current x voltage

Pointing out welding because it is very common at least we see them up close in our lifetime, imagine that spark/explosion is right up in your face, bigger and more powerful, that heat melts metal, scary!

Our main farm has 2x  800 amp 440 3 phase  panels then transformers then 3.  200 amp panels wired for 3 phase 220

I never ever ever open the 440 panel I never ever ever open the transformers. I deal with the 200 amp 240 3phase only by turning the circuit breaker on and off.

We have a high power qualified  electrician do all wiring.  If we ever max this place out we will be over .5 mega watts in one of the 2 buildings the other building can provide 40x 30 amp  240 volt circuits  so about  1200 more amps say 268kwatts.

These are WWII factories the foundation slabs are six feet of concrete there are so overbuilt it is amazing. 2x  concrete filled cinder block walls.

Biggest issue is the big transformers are more then 50 years old they are 5 by 5 by 5 feet and always a bit warm to the touch.

yeah when it comes to transformers..i'm out, waaaaaaay and faaaaar out, the electricity input of those are thousands of volts before getting stepped down to 440/220/110.

mosquito killers are between 1000-2000 volts, and mosquitoes get zapped like nothing. those transformers are above 10,000 volts, humans will be zapped like nothing too.

wow at WWII factories you have there, didn't even occur to those who build it that it will be used for crypto mining, the enigma machine is the crypto thing at that time hehe.

holding that WWII factory will give you riches if you strike crypto fortune and strike good deals for mining gears..unless your government ruin the party like what happened in china. good luck there BTC BTC BTC BTC

I can build everything crypto myself but not electricity wiring, this is what happens when you don't hire a professional to do the wiring for you, a big lesson learned here for those who are still looking to get into mining farm

Building a mining rig and killing a GPU in the process is different from toying ( thinking you know) with electricity where a simple mistake can cost you your life, don't take such risks it's not worth it
