The solution proposed is the ability to disable markets to protect the consumers. However, is it really for this reason? Governments want power and the ability to control and censor. The more power you allow to give them, I reckon is more power they have to abuse it. The government should be grow smaller instead of bigger.

Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco on Wednesday unveiled two new Justice Department enforcement initiatives aimed at targeting cryptocurrencies and government contractors who fail to report cyber breaches.

Monaco announced on Wednesday, during a virtual speech at the Aspen Cyber Summit, the launch of the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team, whose goal will be to "strengthen" the Justice Department's ability to disable financial markets that allow cybercriminals to "flourish."

You hit the nail on the head. "Protect consumers", "for the children", and "for the common good" (etc) are all phrases that mean politicians want power and the money that comes with it while trying to hide it.

When you hear those, watch your wallet and your liberties.
