for me it's simple if once defeated they recognize and admit that it was just a job for them, and they were just pure mercs, fighting for another flag for money, and were already able to survive defeat, I am cool, go back home... away...

however those who pretended to have a flag and in reality fought for money, have nowhere to leave now, and better die.

Soldier deserve to live, Reason is because they are fighting for the peace of the country and states, so every risk they take ,they deserved to be paid handsomely because it is not a simple game,it is a game of risk and a mind play.

Only a hypocrite will say that a soldier who fights for money doesn't deserve to live. We live and die for our goals be it for a better life for our loved ones or whatever. Who are we to judge what cause is better than the other? Morals differ for any culture and state of life. Not all have wonderful families. Alot of them have dysfunctional homes with wives separated from them. Some of these soldiers are very mean and wicked and do not know how to maintain a family.

And also, we should also consider them because some lose their lifes while trying to fight for us,our safety, security and well been of all individual,therefore,they deserve to live,and as they say,"nothing goes for nothing" they are just been appreciated and paid for their good services in the country.

If they lose their lives while they are on duty, they get compensation for that. Soldiers are well paid in my country and I do not see anything special they do apart from staying on the roads and harassing unarmed civilians.

Be them soldiers or not, mercenaries fighting for money or whatever, they are humans most of all and deserves to live. It's not a new thing to be about a hustle for money. Armed forces or hired guns is a field, a vocation that has got to be filled by someone and that doesn't mean they shouldn't live based on whatever notion they had at a point.
These guys, some of them have got families, loved once and even pets that needs to be taken care of and as such, they hustle, fight fir which ever flag with the hope of coming back home and being with there families.
I feel for them a lot, they go through a lot and have gotten to adapt to a hard lifestyle to earn a living. It's much better than crime and as such, they should live in which ever circumstance.

Here is the situation. You are a soldier. You train, serve, get salary. You have spend years being a soldier and demobilization occurs. This is same as being fired. What will you do, if you have family to feed? You will start to look for a job, but you will be offered only low paid, because you neither have experience, nor have necessary education. How many years can you survive doing low paid job? Of course such people become mercenaries and do what they trained to do. Identically, as a police officer after being fired will work as a guard, but not as a dentist.

In fact, it is a very difficult question, I can not only say yes or no, there are many things that must be taken into account when answering this question, if you asked me this question several years ago, I would have answered you clearly: No, these people do not deserve life!!! But today, after years of devastating war here in my country and the spread of poverty and hunger, I see people who I know are good and hate evil, but in the end they had to become mercenaries fighting for money!!! Not for the money for themselves but for a simple life for their children and families!!! Today I can never answer this question because I know that these people deserve life but circumstances forced them, despite all that I cannot say that they are completely innocent because they agreed to kill in order to earn money!!!

Apparently, in the line of jobs as a soldier, you get to be the enemy even if you weren't the enemy nor do you solely agree on the course for which you are deployed or hired for. It's the job and as much as you could be the one taking it up for those who believe it, your the victim at the frontline and when caught, you are treated like the enemy for fighting under that banner.

I believe the American and Chinese military employ more people than any other business in the world.  Saying that all their employees should not deserve to live seems like you're advocating for the death of some of the largest groups of human beings on earth.  Personally, I'd rather there was no such thing as an army in today's society.  There really isn't a need for it and I think the failure in the middle east displays that.  I'm reminded of the quote, "fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity."  I think a lot of people in life, and especially on these forums should take that quote to heart.

Normally soldiers who fight for money or after money don't serve they get lost because they loose in concentration on what they doing. Some don't last longer in their services because of the distraction and sense of money they are after. Most of them who are into money hunting with curruption and bribing fully know the act they exhibit may put them in problem.

A soldier always fights for his country,s peace, stability, security, and good reputation. He bears the separation of his friends, children, relatives, and family.
He sacrifices his life for this high mission. He does whatever he is ordered to do for his country. He spends his life under great commitment. I dont think soldiers who fight for money deserve to die, so yes they deserve to live. Reason being is this, just like any other professional career out there with money being it ends means, soldiers/mercenaries are also professionals with money as their ends means.

I would say soldiers who fight for money do not deserve to live only when they derailed from what is ideal, sadly soldiers have been poised by many forces ranging from political to economic and social forces and its seriously hurting the values of the mighty profession.

Only those who want to fight should join the military, only volunteers.

Those are the only who deserve to live. It's simple, look at most so called american soldiers? they only kill others for money, they don't care about what's just, right or the thing to do, they just care about lining their pockets.

They are as such worthless. Furthermore as they fight for money, not for an ideal or belief or even simply their nations/homeland, they will easily betray for higher payers and even surrender their former nation/homeland.

Member you made a great point, i agree with you to a certain extent. But i would say that is subjective, thus cannot be generalized. We all agree there are rogue actors among the soldiers, service men and women that are not serving with passion for their Motherland or kinsmen but for the money and privileges. My point is there are good service men and women out there that are passionately serving and protecting their motherland.
