After observing the NFT markets and some games included in P2P via P2E (Play 2 Earn) projects which boosted the NFT economy to the next level of gaming, I want to know how much does it cost to create an NFT based P2E platform that will give both, the users and creators an opportunity to get entertained through a game they already know about, but has not entered the NFT mania just yet (please don't start guessing the name of the game as this thread is not focused on it).
Can a developer here PM me or give an open idea here (if they want to) about the costs of developing, deploying as well as turning this idea into reality? It is not going to be a big deal since such projects are already live and their userbase is also getting a boost every single day because the games are giving players an opportunity to earn while enjoying the gameplay.
Hey!
Developer CostsThe price to develop and deploy a project like this depends. To Develop a p2e NFT game system, you wouldn't want to hire just one developer, a team would be more efficient and secure, with more people looking over the code of your project during development, the safer you are from vulnerabilities that might not be spotted by a solo developer. Depending on how long the contract is, developers for the backend and frontend would cost different amounts. A medium range backend developer would cost around ~ $50-$70 an hour. The price of frontend is different depending on what kind of game you want to run, and how you want it to be deployed. If you want the game to be played through a browser, development costs would be cheaper because the game would probably be built with javascript if its through a browser, around $40-$75 an hour depending on the contract length.
Backend (Server) costsServer costs are also a variable, and it will most likely depend on the size of your project, and the amount of people using your platform. If you're running a web based platform, as in the game is played through the browser, you would be able to run most of the project through a web server. With a userbase of around ~5000 players it would be smart to get a higher end plan for a backend solution, server costs each month for a web server of that caliber would be around ~$700 a month. If your game runs on the users computer, as in an executable and not in a browser, backend costs might be higher. Having the webserver for the website, and the database on the same server is not a good idea. With an executable based game, you would need an external database to store user data. The reason you would want two separate servers, is so that you can secure user data better, if the web server gets hacked, then the user data is still safe because its on a different web server, but if everything was on the same server, and you got hacked, you would have everything including user data stolen.
Blockchain developer CostsThis is where it might get a little expensive, developers that completely understand how blockchain technology works are expensive and are sometimes hard to find. You would want someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to NFTs and how they work. Developers with this skill set cost around ~$100 an hour depending on the contract. You would also need extensive communication with this person or persons to make sure the NFT side of the platform works exactly how you want it.
Graphic Designers Costs When making a platform that rewards NFTs, you would obviously need someone to draw the art for said NFTs, these illustrations would also most likely be used inside of the game for game art, high rated graphic designers on Fiverr usually cost around $25 for each drawing, which would cost a lot of you're making
thousands of these NFTs. It would be better to contract an artists independently and come to some sort of agreement on pricing.
ConclusionAfter all of those expenses calculated, and assuming you would want the project game executable based, it would cost you around ~$15000 to get the platform completely made (Assumed you hire more than one developer for back end and front end). After that, it would cost around ~$1500 a month for server costs assuming that you have two servers.
Hope this helped!
