BTC
I attempted to purchase 0.00149 btc from moonpay plugin on bitcoin.com.
The order is complete and the plugin claims that the bitcoin was delivered 45 minutes ago.

Since I have yet to have the btc added to my Electrum wallet I decided to investigate. There appears to be a discrepancy within the Electrum app. For all the addresses, the displayed address is longer than and different from the address obtained through copying the address to your clipboard. This is true if you cntl+c or right click and copy. This discrepancy has me worried that the app was hacked and that I've just sent 0.00149 btc to a stranger. That's enough money that I can't try it again for a few months.

Obviously, I can't get a refund if the btc was sent to an incorrect address, but Electrum appears to be fairly reputable and I can't imagine that users would recommend it if they couldn't rely on copy/paste addresses. Am I missing something here? How long before I know for sure my btc is gone?

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

It looks like you were victim of the clipboard hijacker malware!
To confirm this, copy one of your addresses or any random address and paste it in any text editor. Compare both addresses and if they don't match then your device is infected with the malware.

You can read more about how it works and how to protect yourself in this topic:
How to lose your Bitcoins with CTRL-C CTRL-V

Did bitcoin.com provide you with the transaction ID? If yes, look it up on any block explorer and check if the receiving address belongs to your wallet. If it isn't then, unfortunately, your coins are lost.

Clipboard malware can affect the sender or the receiver, you do not have to blame Electrum but the clipboard malware on your computer resulted to it.

Read this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5363797.msg58092428#msg58092428

That is why you need to check and recheck the address you copy and paste before sending, making sure it is your address. Clipboard malware can change it to a hacker's address.

Are you sure that it is Bitcoin (BTC,) Bitcoin.com always gives wrong results by trying to sell Bitcoin Cash.

In general, it seems that this clipboard hijacker malware is your problem try to copy other address and do the following

 - Check the email order confirmation or https://buy.moonpay.com/trade_history

Then you will be able to determine the address you sent to, check it in the block explorer.

if you found you device effected remove every thing and reinstall your OS.

This is the transaction link provided by MoonPay: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transaction/51851a59b61f198b4bf0963a2315c34b0010eb94afe126438d16857b53b2e898?from=moonpay
I am fairly certain that I'm affected by the malware, kinda sucks that this is my first experience ever with purchasing btc.
Thanks for helping out so quickly everyone.

I never use Bitcoin.com and moonpay so what do you mean about plugin?

Do you mean that it was from bitcoin.com app on an Android device and then you can buy Bitcoins there by choosing the Moonpay option to buy bitcoin?

If everything is made from your phone, not on a PC or Laptop I don't think it's because of malware why it sent to another address.

I checked this transaction and there are many addresses on recipients so how did you know that it does not match from the copied address on Electrum?

Not all in recipient address is yours you should check all the recipient by loading it more just scroll down to load the whole recipients and use "find" button from your browser to look on that address.

I believe this is the culprit address: bc1qx70vkyf3c4ve63rc4sl5plqqygpw9lqrg6vhcx since it's the only address which received exactly 0.00149BTC from that transaction.
Electrum would provide a new address each time you request a new payment but this address has received many transactions.

@OP, does this address belong to your wallet?
You can verify this by matching it against addresses that appear on your Electrum addresses tab, or by running this command from Console:
Code:
ismine("bc1qx70vkyf3c4ve63rc4sl5plqqygpw9lqrg6vhcx")

This looks like a simple link of the transaction in question to me.

In Moonpay plugin, you'll see the address where the purchased bitcoins was sent in the "Sending to" field under the "Order ID".
Or "Destination wallet address" in the transaction receipt, there's no need to use a blockexplorer.

Clipboard malware can affect the sender or the receiver, you do not have to blame Electrum but the clipboard malware on your computer resulted to it.
He can't blame Electrum either way. OP should have made sure he was using the genuine version of the Electrum wallet and that the address he sent the coins to match the one from his Electrum wallet. Apparently, he only noticed the difference when he started investigating why the coins weren't delivered to his wallet. Unfortunately, that's too late.

Are you sure that it is Bitcoin (BTC,) Bitcoin.com always gives wrong results by trying to sell Bitcoin Cash.
They actually don't do that anymore for at least half a year. If you visit the site now, and click on "Buy/Sell Bitcoin" it will automatically fill up the fields for you to purchase the real Bitcoin. And they don't call it "Bitcoin Core" anymore, it's just "Bitcoin" now. If you want Bitcoin Cash, you have to manually find it in the dropdown menu.

I believe this is the culprit address: bc1qx70vkyf3c4ve63rc4sl5plqqygpw9lqrg6vhcx since it's the only address which received exactly 0.00149BTC from that transaction.
That address has already received 30 other transactions, and since OP says this is his first time using bitcoin, it is clear that this address does not belong to him.

OP, your computer is obviously infected with malware of some description, meaning nothing on it can be guaranteed to be safe. You should not attempt to buy bitcoin again using that computer until you have formatted it and reinstalled your OS. Similarly, your wallet and private keys may also have been compromised, and so you should no longer use that wallet either.

You need to format your computer, reinstall your OS from scratch, download Electrum and ensure you verify your download prior to installing, and then create a brand new wallet and a new seed phrase.

They actually don't do that anymore for at least half a year.
They are still a scam site which tell blatant lies to trick newbies in to buying a fake altcoin disguised as bitcoin, and should be avoided by everyone. For example:

The alternative version of Bitcoin with the greatest number of adherents has come to be known as Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
