Hi,

Just wondering if you could help me out, as i'm quite unsure how blockchain explorer is working with all those hashes and amounts.
I sent a payment a couple of days ago to this address: 3QFVMXgZ8iRgKUp9ayCAWuP3QxbHte8mds

The receiver said he didn't receive it yet, so just wondering if it's true.

When I try to track it, I can see a red and a green amount of $273.95 on top of each other, but not quite sure what it means. I sent $268 from coinbase, so I guess that's the amount after fee's etc.
The date and time is marching too.

The link I got from bitcoin to see the transaction is this: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/48e211a5e72dfaf796d237e3f3dfa23036923deddd8e11720e4d79218c8c6394

Hope you can point me in the right direction Smiley

According to the transaction you posted, the address in question has received 0.00451948 BTC.

There are two possibilities:
1. You sent bitcoin to a wrong address. (It could be caused by a clipboard hijacker malware.)
2. The receiver has received the fund and is lying to you.

One thing about exchanges is that it is not working like wallets, exchanges can make use of different address to send the coin to the person you sent the coin to, but make sure you use the transaction hash (txid) that coinbase provided you after the successful transaction. If that is the txid that you posted above, that is the amount you sent to the person and is the correct transaction.

0.00451948 BTC * 610000 61000 = $275.68828, while bitcoin price is fluctuating.

The TX you reference (48e211a5e72dfaf796d237e3f3dfa23036923deddd8e11720e4d79218c8c6394) shows that 0.00451948 BTC (259.64 USD) were sent to 3QFVMXgZ8iRgKUp9ayCAWuP3QxbHte8mds on the 15/10/2021, and has since been confirmed 320 times. A subsequent TX (d3ff701880333b3e55fa811a2eb5c2abc5b4be5281434462eb301c523e40d1c9) spends all the amount on the same date. The green and red colours correspond to the amount received and sent respectively. They are aggregate values from multiple addresses.

What really should count is the 0.00451948 BTCs you sent, and not so much the counter value in USD. If you had to send over that BTC amount, that was sent and received. Make sure the receiving address is correct, as stated in the post above, and also that the amount is correct. Sometimes, sending less (or the result being less due to fees) may result in the recipient stating that he did not receive the amount, although the correct phrasing should be that he did not receive it in full.

Double check the address you entered is matching or not with the address sent by the receiver, if it matches then you did everything correctly and the end user is lying to you or it can be he didn't receive the full amount so he said like that.

I am just curious to know where you have sent the fund. Did you use the check-out process to purchase anything from any site? or have you invested in any other site? If you share the full story of where you sent the fund exactly and to whom then we might detect the point and the issue of what is going on. Because it seems your transaction confirmed,  means that the address you have mentioned had received the fund. You can verify from the above replies. I am assuming you have been scammed or someone trying to scam you. If you have invested in Ponzi or scam means the fund is gone forever. If you had used the checkout system to purchase anything there might happen something wrong about the USD rate and BTC rate or delay the transaction, so please share the truth.

Thanks for the help all.
I have checked the receiver address multiple times, so I guess he is lying.

There could not be some kind of problem/delay on his end? Just making sure before I accuse him of lying and stuff Smiley

@COOLCRYPTOVATOR It's a piece of software I bought from a guy, so just a normal transfer from my coinbase, to his bitcoin address.

By the way, when I mouseover the red globe, it says 'Spent'. Does that mean he already withdrew it, or just that he received it?

exchanges can make use of different address to send the coin to the person you sent the coin to,
But using a different address (other than the one sender is tied to on the exchange) doesn't really matter provided receiver's address remains intact. From the evidence provided here by OP, it's likely that the receiver got their Bitcoin delivered to them but trying to play a smart one on the OP.

There are two possibilities:
1. You sent bitcoin to a wrong address. (It could be caused by a clipboard hijacker malware.)
2. The receiver has received the fund and is lying to you.
I strongly believe it's the second option, not the first. A lot of people like to capitalize on the naivety of greenhorns to cheap them.

By the way, when I mouseover the red globe, it says 'Spent'. Does that mean he already withdrew it, or just that he received it?
That means that the received fund has been spent in another transaction.
If I'm not wrong, the outgoing transaction seems to be a coinjoin transaction (A large transaction including multiple inputs and outputs owned by different people for making tracing the fund almost impossible.)

There are other possibilities, to it if he had successful sent it to that very address, although the OP is only allowing us to know the fact that he has sent it to so and so address and the reciever is claiming not to have received it.
+ The reciever could be a continuous scammer that wants to keep scamming the OP by claiming the address has received any coin. I think the OP should open up on his relationship with the owner of the address.

The address you provided is in that transaction where that address received a total of 0.00451948 BTC. The answer is what mentioned abive either you fall victim to clipboard malware and the recipient or receiver is lying about not receiving the btc and the receiver must have check the wrong wallet.

For one, you should not be storing your funds on coinbase or any other custodian wallet. You do not own the private keys and hence, you do not truly own your funds, they choose to make it available to you.

There could not be some kind of problem/delay on his end? Just making sure before I accuse him of lying and stuff Smiley
If their wallet is not fully synched that could affect it from their end, but I highly doubt that's the issue here as they could easily confirm this by checking through a block explorer and they the funds have already been spent.

It's a piece of software I bought from a guy, so just a normal transfer from my coinbase, to his bitcoin address.
For transactions like this, you should be using a escrow, especially if you do not personally know the person or it's not a face to face transaction.

He probably knows that you don't have much knowledge of how transactions work?

Precisely with bitcoin transactions, the public ledger that is the blockchain is an unquestionable way to verify whether a transaction has occurred or not.

The transaction has already been sent to the receiver, this is the reason why we need to always show to the other party the transaction ID and before sending always check the Receivers address if possible ask them and double-check for the verification. As long as you send the funds to the address the transaction is ended you have the proof. If you didn't trust better to get a middle man that both of you knows to prevent getting issues too.

He sent me the attached screenshots of his account, but I guess that doesn't prove much though.
I have also asked Coinbase, perhaps they can see more.

As stated in multiple posts above, the TX you referenced was sent and confirmed. The balance and TX screen shots do not show the TX in appearance, although you never know exactly what you are seeing there (i.e. it could be data from another account or whatever).

Are you absolutely sure that the address you sent the BTC to is really the same one that the receiver is monitoring and printing the screenshots from? (I'd validate that with him).
