Hi guys,

i own Ryzen 7 5800X and wanted to ask what is there for mining on this cpu? i know about randomx Monero, but is there anything else? i checked whattomine and coincalculator.io and they dont have section for CPU.

thank you in advance

You can mine Verus, Raptoreum, ScryptN2 on Zergpool, RX2 (Luxcoin) and many more. All bring more profit than mining monero.

You can mine raptoreum and Monero with that CPU but that raptoreum is more profitable than Monero, with that CPU be expecting something around 1-2$ per day, calculator for both are down below

https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/xmr?HashingPower=100&HashingUnit=KH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=1200&CostPerkWh=0.12&MiningPoolFee=1

Honestly CPU mining isn't worth it anymore since cryptonight algorithm got blocked of Monero chain years back, since then it makes no sense to mine with CPU anymore, you said you have Ryzen 7 5800x CPU which is a high end CPU today, you must know how much the CPU costs so mining with this CPU gives you 1$ per day and that's 30$ per month, judging from the cost of the CPU and how much you making in mining it's not worth it

I gave a try to raptoreum last night on my strongest machine (dual xeon e5 2690) and it did just under 50c of euros which I consider not too bad for 8hours of mining +/-
It's just that cpus are more demanding in power than gpus so I don't know if it's a good idea on the long run to cpumine in parallel of gpu...

You have to make your experimentations and decide.

Something really appreciable with raptoreum miner is that it's optimizing itself according to the available cpu instructions sets. It's not the case with all cpu miner, I have xmrig in mind.

wow, a dual xeon e5 2690. Have you tried to put it for rent to the render farm? I think 50c of euros/8hous is kinda low for such multi-core CPU like that and maybe render farm will pay you better. Remember mining is about min max the profit vs electricity. Of course, you can mine for fun or depend on circumstance, that's the best you could do.

Bad idea, the AMD CPU costs as much as a GPU today so I would sell that if I really want to get into mining train 🚆 with others, gamers will gladly buy that CPU from you at good price

Hmm I didn't know it would ve possible to rent the cpu power, but I guess I lack the network connection to do it

Sorry if I sound stupid, is the ARM based CPU means that AMD CPU are the best for this coin or not? I remember few AMD CPUs having ARM supports like the opteron and some server CPUs

Yes I believe, ARM base CPUs are x86 families that has multiple cores active in them and those CPUs are mostly find in servers, the more the cores of your CPU the better the results you will get

Wrong, you find ARM cpus in Raspberry Pie for example. Are all people to lazy to use google?  Roll Eyes

ARM processors are desirable for light, portable, battery-powered devices‍—‌including smartphones, laptops and tablet computers, as well as other embedded systems.

I took the liberty and make a simple check for the rental price of a dual xeon e5 2670 (your is 2690) server at irendering. The price is $1 per hour. That's quite a good price and better than 50c euro after 8 hours of mining. It's really up to you. There is also another way to make money from having multi core CPU, you could try setting up multi android device to running apps, games aka bot farming.
Now, I know this kind of stuff doesn't sound like crypto mining or related to the mining section but from what I see, many mobile games right now have NFT features or play-to-earn crypto so it is actually related to mining only a bit different as it will require your inputs over time. Think outside the box and you will find a better way to make decently profits from your CPU, don't have to strictly to the traditional mining process.

CPU mining is largely a waste of time and power. You'll be lucky to beat the price of electricity, let alone make enough to withdraw from your pool.

If you believe in a project, on the long term I don't think it is this way... If you think we are in a bubble, everything will be banned or something else bad for cryptos and so the profits must be cashed out as soon as possible then I'd agree with you

the Ryzen 7 5800X and a good performing processor / cpu with 16 threads in my opinion you can try to successfully mine uplexa, monero or arqma, if you have good fans on the case you can get a little something

the downside of cpu mining is flooding by malmware mining and some admin in server using those rigs server without permision,

hard to compete these day with cpu, that the truth, btw you can learn mining and get more knowledge by then

There are 2 malware issues specific to CPU mining. The first is they are notorious for being flagged by AV,
even legitimate miners, because some scammer web sites have downloaded javascript miners without
the user's permission.

Second, scammers know mining software has a high rate of false positives and that users let their guard down so
they infect legitimate mining SW with malware. Some just mine to their own wallet but others try to steal your
wallet keys. Take precautions like avoid mining on the same system as your wallet, don't mine as admin,
and keep your wallet owned by a separate limited user.

I don't think botnets are as pervasive as some believe. It's not that easy to conceal mining with the CPU.
Sluggish response, overheating, less battery time are all easy to notice.

Cloud services are getting wise to mining and will usually ban or severely throttle it.

There's no pont in a CPU mining farm the way they exist for GPUs. CPU mining just doesn't scale, you can't
build a multi CPU mining rig. Trolls don't need to point out that multi-CPU systems exist but you can't compare
them with a GPU rig.

If you have a decent desktop CPU you might as well put it to work, laptops not recommended. If you're buying
a new PC you could consider a bigger CPU If you are interested in mining. Buying a CPU specifically to mine is
probably not a good idea.
