Why not when some of the coins on his list do also have a potential, coins such as ada, dot and maybe we can add avax too but I do not know about the rest since I am not familiar with them and just because etherium is in the second list it will stay like that forever ?

I bet no because we are talking about 5 years here mate and 5 years is such a long time. Not sure if your already aware that eth has a problem and its not fixed yet until now. If this problem persist for a long time I am afraid that people will start looking for a better alternative, which is why its wise to spread our funds now not only on one coin because we do not know what can happen with it.

first and foremost, no one here has the crystal ball to tell the OP if those coins will still be here after 5 years. what he will get here is just pure speculations. for him to assure that his coins are worth holding long-term, he needs to follow the developments of each one and assess if they are doing any progress. because if he feels there's nothing happening on the project, better discard and move on to the next one. don't wait too long because as he waited the value will continue to decline for most dying projects.

ETH, ADA, AVAX. 3 of these coins I see excellent fundamentals, I am sure it can last 5 years even though ethereum has already had a long journey. Other coins may be quite popular but don't have a long-term trend I guess.

Ethereum will surely last a lifetime since it's the most decentralized altcoin in the world. But I cannot speak for the others, since they're fairly new on the market. I've seen altcoins come and go due to hype. Only a few coins which deliver concrete results to the public, are able to survive for quite a while. It may be tough to pick coins that will last for 5 years, since the crypto/Blockchain space is widely unpredictable. Especially when you're beginning your journey into the world of crypto.

I would advice anyone to "stick" with the top 10 coins in market cap just to be safe. Of course, market cap is not the only thing which determines a cryptocurrency's level of success. Mainstream adoption/market demand is what it's all about for any crypto project to succeed in the long run. Who knows what will be of the market within 5 years from now? Just my opinion

From my point of view, crypto market dont have enough historical data to make 5-10 year predictions.
