I'm not sure if this had been asked before. This is just an example of some odds that I saw recently Fighter A (1.30) vs Fighter B (3.65). With this obviously, Fighter A is the people's champ and Fighter B is the underdog.
Regardless of who is bigger and undefeated record, let's say you have no idea who these fighters are because the names can't even be read like Ulshrkubyki vs Ykwehgyfvbh. If you only have $10 left in your sports betting account, would you go for the champ which you can only earn $3, or go for the underdog which if he got lucky can triple your money?
At the end of the day these statistics are not grabbed out of thin air. Gambling companies have carefully calculated the chances of winning and in the example you gave there must be evidence why they have favored one fighter over the other. You'll easily find the reasoning behind most pricing differences, the fighter with the lower payout is probably coming into the match with a streak of wins and the other fighter might have several previous losses - it's clear to anyone with a little deduction which way the fight is leaning. Now, anything could happen in the fight but statistically you know the likely outcome, if there is a reason you think the fight is mispriced, like the underdog being able to strike lucky knockouts, then you might want to bet that way. Otherwise you might as well bet on the expected winner and slowly make your profit that way.

A fighter will not be marked underdog if he has a good chance and so is the favorite, they based it on their previous fight and performance, and people will choose or bet the favorite if they want to be on a safe side of a game, but if you are a risk-taker then bet on the underdog, there are people who are betting in the underdog they understand the risk, but they also understand the rewards. I'm not a risk-taker so I'll go for the favorite.

I want assurance so I will not bet for Underdogs instead i will go for the ranking one and I know most of us do the same thing , there are only few who bets for the underdog to risk their money for a small chance of winning. I think I will support the underdog player if I do not know both players because the underdog player can have support from the people who watch the match and sometimes, the underdog can give surprises to the audience.
But if you do not want to lose any money, you do not have to force yourself to choose any player who will match and only place your bet on the player you will know. That will be safe for your money because you have knowledge about the player and know how big the chance is for you to win.
that is a smaller chance mate but of course you can do bet for underdog with higher risks.

I faced this kind of situation before where I don't know the skills of competing players or fighters but I always get the win because I just ask who is the favorite and the underdog, favorites have a huge chance of winning because of their skills and performance, majority people will not bet on them if they know they will not capable of beating the other fighters. Underdogs can still win a fight but it's rare and we can consider this as an upset, if you are a risk-taker betting on the underdog will give you huge winning or a jackpot.

I'm a football bettor, I take a look at boxing just out of curiosity, but I believe the betting "technique" I apply there can be used here too. When I have little money (a leftover from the end of the month) and want to place a random bet on unknown teams (in this case, on unknown fighters), I always bet on the one with the least chance of winning and consequently give me the most return. If I lose, that's fine... it was a small amount, but if I win... even if for a few chanes, I want to win a lot to make the time I spent worth it.

Luck is important with gambling, but when going for the underdog we need to take in account the odds margin. Here it is 3.65 which is quite high in my opinion. For this reason I'll pick the winning profit of $3 out of $10. In such matches it is very hard to make profit through underdog win. If the odds were between 2.2 to 2.6 then one can give a try. Why we should sometimes go for the underdog because we usually get good odds if we bet on the underdog and more weaker team. Since there is a always a chance that the weaker teams win on some days and you can make big profit because of the attractive odds. Everyone is anticipating a stronger team to win but upsets do happen in games.

First off, I would check the statistics of both fighters from multiple sources because according to Mayweather, "Men lie, women lie, numbers don't lie" . Besides, there's a whole lot numbers can tell you about a fighter. The next thing i might likely do if I think is the right thing regardless of what the stats say is to follow my hear if I have a strong leading. You may never know.

depends on my mood(yeah, I have different moods when gambling). the safe bet(if based on statistics) would be betting on the champion but if I feel riskier and I feel that I won't care losing $10 I'd bet on the underdog. sure, upsets can happen in a match but that doesn't always happen.

The true profit comes when you bet on the underdog and he wins, but in order to make a decent prediction you need to know more details besides the odds. So in this case, since we can't have access to more statistics it's safer to pick the favorite fighter, preferentially not risking too much money on this fight, as it is a "shot in the dark".
It's also important to notice what tournament category this fight belongs. As we know, the less remarkable the tournament and the participants, the higher the chances of a fixed match. Personally I would avoid betting in low tier, unknown tournaments and athletes for this reason.

The same logic can be applied to all sports, not just boxing or MMA events. Personally, I would never bet on an event I know nothing about. I also don't make decisions based on the odds provided, but I have to be honest and admit that they play an important role. If I didn't have the time to research both fighters and check out predictions by experts from the fighting industry, I would rather put my money on the favorite. But like I said, I rarely bet like that.

I am the type that will take the risk so I will go for the underdog. But something must be understood here. Do you really believe that the underdog has a winning chance? If yes, with like 50-60 percent then go for it. Favorites are made by analytics but it doesn't mean the end result will always be the same as they predicted. What does your instinct tell you? Don't go for emotions though because you might fail at winning using that. Example: Being a hardcore fan of the underdog.

There is such a thing as upset but it seldom happens since I don't know both fighters only who is the favorite or the underdog I'll go with the favorite to win the fight, this is a safe bet, we all want a safe bet, this is the first thing that we're looking in a match who is the favorite, this is to guaranty our winning, we can bet with the underdog if we are ready to lose the bet.

I do want assurance too when it comes to betting, I would prefer to take a less risk so I'll always choose the crowd favorite. I would choose to the option where I have a higher chance of winning. Though, I know some of my friends who are risk takers that used to bet on underdogs sometimes they make a right bet sometimes are not. Betting on underdogs I think only works to those person who knows how to look a fighter or know how to examine a fighter based on statistics, records and recent fights.

There's a high chance that you are going to lose your money if you bet on an underdog, those betting with an underdog are risk-takers if you do not know the skills of both fighters better be on the safe side, you don't know the chances of the underdog to win the fight because you don't have knowledge of the capability of the underdog to pull an upset.

Since I only have and it's only $10 might as well take the risk of betting on the underdog who knows if the underdog can pull an upset, but if it's a big amount I don't think I can take a chance and bet on the underdog, of course, I want to be sure and bet on the favorite if it is a big amount we all want to make a profit even if it's not a big winning.

That is why only you will know what you will do with the underdog player or team because you can decide what the best for you is. Maybe we will bet for the underdog with higher risks or vice versa as there is no force to select which team to bet. Maybe some gambler will bet for the underdog with small risk just for fun in the sports betting.

This depends on two factors for me. 1. I would check the history of those fighters and see if the fighter B has a chance or not. If he does not have any chance then I would put my money on fighter A. But if the fighter B does have some chances of winning then I would put money of fighter B. 2. If the left over money i.e., $10 is something that I can afford to lose then I would risk it on the fighter B and otherwise fighter A.

To bet keep in mind that less adversity means higher gains betting on the underdog is riskier than preferred but higher risk means higher potential profits. The fewer the odds or the less chances you have the more money you can win on the underdog, then you have to bet you can earn alternatively you have to bet that you can win at some point but be consistent. The difference between subtraction and underdog is that every bet has to go with risk to win.

If you are not aware of the fighters then am not even sure if I you should place the bet. Plus it would be wiser to place the bet depending upon the odds hands down. Even if we do talk about the underdogs we might have no idea about anything there. I do think the reason why sports betting works is because people are aware of the games and the players as well, so if you want to take risks here, you definately can because it would mean that you would be earning more if you win. For me I prefer playing it safe therefore I would go for the safer option hands down..

I would prefer to pick the people's champ not because I'm underestimating the opponent but I trust the one that is well experienced in his field. I see the experience as a good record and advantage when it comes to matches. I've also seen his previous fights and that's also the reason why he's the people's favorite. I find betting on the underdog too risky.
