Promoting Website- allowed?

Title may sound like crazy? Everyone is promoting their casino site, news site, or any other platform here in bitcointalk. Can if Luis leon be categorized as of them or is he different? Luis leon has 12 posts (topic/thread in fact) which include article link of coin*****.com, I believe there's nothing wrong to share such a site (Am I wrong with this?). But all the other sites promote themselves in a single thread; they create an announcement & update every time they have something to share with the community but Luis leon is creating a thread every time he needs to share one of his articles. Is it okay to create a thread every time they create an article on their website? Or, they should have an ANN thread here & update on that thread?

It's for the best of his project to create a channel that will contain all the updates. But it's also up to his choices to create separated topics, except that excessive posting may be considered as spam and the topics will be deleted or moving to trash before permanently ban the user:

32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.

I can't see (from his posts) that he is affiliated with any of the website he is about to promote. With only 12 posts over about two months, i can't also anything wrong with his posting habits.

This is almost similar to the case of the guy who was spamming the boards with links to coinpedia articles. Most of his accounts would eventually get banned for spamming.

In my opinion, it should not be allowed if someone persistently keeps posting with links of a given article website, and they don't even bother looking at the replies and making any discussions in the threads they have created

If the posts are just excerpts from the article, then the posts are in the wrong section and should have rather been in the Press board, although it could still be spam there as it's only for notable press hits. Spamming the forum for engagements doesn't contribute to the community.

Reporting their posts with a note to the mods to have a look at their post history is the best action imo.

I've sort of seen both aituations along the years I've spent here. Having a dedicated ANN can be benefitial so that people can find all the information on a single place, BUT sharing some articles as individual threads so that some discussion about the contents of it.

Worse and most probably case, both will get 0 interactions and will eventually die off. Not really sure there can be a single guideline here

In my opinion, that's kind of advertisement and is against the rules.

24. Advertisements (including signatures within the post area) in posts aren't allowed unless the post is in a thread you started and is really substantial and useful.

Whenever I see such posts, I visit the post of history of the user and check the other posts. If I see the user is promoting that website in other posts too, I report the post with following comment.

IMHO - anyone advertising / shilling their website constantly needs repotting to the mods . If a “person” shills their website every few months then arguably I can let that  slide - no point in knocking someone who’s doing their best in a difficult world economy. If it’s a regular occurrence, even in different forum sections AND with slightly different wording - then it deserves/needs to be reported. I’ve got 100% reporting and I report theses constantly. As members have said ALWAYS check their post history

You can report a single post or thread if it is low value. Moderators will handle your report and mostly those posts or topics have low value.

It is not ok. You answered your question. If they want to promote their website officially, they must create a ANN thread, and do their business with it.

The fact is, I don't think they don't know about it. What they do are:

• Ignore rules
• Create as many threads in as many boards as possible to make as much exposure as possible to forum members.

You can report their threads if you want.

It's pretty sure he has been promoting his website. But I don't think it should consider as spam or breaking any forum rules. He is creating a thread with a new title and new articles. I am not supporting him, rather than creating many threads he could merge that all in a single announcement thread. I don't think reporting his post would help to remove since the link isn't harmful to the forum users.

I reported Luis leon's posts.
All my reports were marked as good and the posts were deleted by moderators.

I didn't expect the topics with replies from other users to be deleted. From my experience with reporting such topics, I expected them to be locked. But they were all deleted.

Since those threads are considered as low value and doesn't add any value to the community then deleting the thread is the actual solution. Probably users who replied on such threads realize it and reporting them earlier csn avoid their replies from being deleted.

It is good that you reported his posts. The fact that they were deleted by moderators shows that his posts were considered as spam and low-value. However, I see that the user is also banned. Were there any other issues in his posts, such as plagiarism, or was spam the sole reason for the ban?

People try their way. I have seen many users to do the same and eventually they get ban. Since the signature space are not available for lower rank members, they go extra creative and try promoting whatever inspired them to join the forum.

Someone can easily buy a copper membership and wear a signature easily.

I guess it was all because of spam, same with the coinpedia promoter poster  (mentioned above) posting/promoting articles from the site. The difference is that this luis leon use it for SEO purpose as it has always particular keywords/anchor text used in every post.

It is. How would anyone put almost no effort into the forum contribution but use the forum for SEO purpose or any other purpose which don't fit the forum purpose? Luis has used the forum for only advertising their content and increasing SEO scores for some keywords.
As the moderator deleted all of his posts, I guess it's because of zero quality or advertising spam.
Anyway. I got the answer I'm looking for. I will lock the thread now.
