Wondering if anyone knows how reliable these machines are.

I'm looking at purchasing a new one through kaboomracks and have heard many horror stories about the S17's - are these ones supposed to be much better?

They are a very high risk purchase especially buying 1 unit.

If the psu dies you can be dead in the water for a month.

100 th is about 37 a day in earnings x 30 = 1110 in earnings lost.

yeah it would burn 🔥 2500 kwatts in that month which is 250 usd if you have 10 cent power.

but 1110-250= 860 profit lost and cost of a new psu is over 250. so you are back to losing over 1100 for the unit.

frankly buying 3 with a spare controller and a spare psu is more rational but is also well over 40000 usd purchase.

Hello, Satseed

I'm Peace from Unistar.

About the s17'S horror stories, it's mostly because the Heat-sink drop causes the chips to burn. (S17's divided heat-sink many small pieces)
And now the S19 Pro's Heat-sink is updated to a whole unit; it's very solid on the board and will solve this problem. And the quality and design process has been improved compared to the S17's.

And Philipma 1957 is right; you can buy 3 with spare control board and spare PSU, and we have a cooperation repair shop in the US that can help.

And we have  500 odd units of S19 Pro 104T in China:  3 units would be $32931, including shipping cost and custom duties to the US.
Spare control board: $154.6/unit
Spare PSU: $251/unit

I am running 20 S19J 100 / 104Th units.  They can be finicky (reboots) but only 1 had a power supply blown.  No other issues so far (knock on wood).

I have heard others who have had more issues so I count myself lucky.

How did your power supply blow?

I just received a new s19J pro and when I plugged it in, nothing happened. no noise, nothing. I purchased it on Amazon and the seller has been communicating with me about what I've done so far but I am super surprised that this unit came - totally new without a working PSU.

Silly question, but you do have 220V or more where you are located right? It won't run on 110V

What a nice way to advertise your services, you mentioned all the pros of these 19 series which I would you second you on them, but why not tell them that there are a dozen people complaining about the PSUs on these gears? gosh, seems like bitmain doesn't want to make a perfect mining gear again, people always have to worry about a certain part failing when they have to pay 10k++ for mining gear, isn't it sad?

Well he did say get the extra psu and controller.

Frankly its a tough buy for me. I want 3-5 s19's but 33k to 55k for them with a spare psu and controller is more than I think they are worth.

My power deal would mean the buy of 5  doing  500th nets me 85 USD a day maybe 90.

so 55000/90 = 611 days

if my power was free

55000/180 = 305 days

so I am priced out of the s19 market.

I wired it to be 220v, 20 amp per leg...

Thanks for your reply.

From a newbies perspective, I've had my S19J Pro (104TH) for about 2 months professionally hosted with a proper team, cooling, power, etc.  It's crapped out and one of the hash boards seems to be faulty (it could be a psu or the like).  So it looks like it's going to have to go in for warranty repair which is 2+ week turnaround.   Not happy with this quality for such an expensive machine.

Hey there, I'm what they call a newbie here I think...first reply, or post.
Just wanted to warn you about the Bitmain repair facilities. I bought a S19jPro 100th(basiclly the same thing) in August of 2021 and it ran for 1 1/2hrs and dropped a hashboard. Sent it in to Delaware, they fixed it(suposedly) and sent it back. During shipping FedEx pretty much played football with it and banged it up bad. Plus it got wet. I wouldn't accept it and it went back to Delaware. They supposedly scrapped my brand new miner and sent me another one, but it's really the same exact one except now it has all the original external damage plus mixed hashboards and hashes at a much slower rate. I'm now in the process of getting an attorney and going to have to sue them to get a new one. Their customer reps in China are worthless.
The moral of this story is make a mark on your unit, brand new or not, that only you know about before you send it in for repairs, or they'll send you a old piece of scrap junk and say it's yours and it got damaged in shipping. I took a lot of pictures and kept records of every email and text so I'm gonna be ok. Just a crappy thing to happen to someone on their first Antminer purchase and it doesn't leave a warm feeling with you after dealing with Bitmain.
