Does gate.io ban any country ?

I want to know if they accept users from all countries or do they have any ban country list. I want to specially know if Pakistan is in the allowed list ?

According to their sign-up page, there are several countries that are not supported but I don't see Pakistan in one of them. As of now:

Washington State(U.S.A), New York State(U.S.A), Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, the Government of Venezuela, Crimea are not supported.

Maybe just check it on your own https://www.gate.io/signup/.

Page 7 of their user agreement (https://www.gate.io/docs/agreement.pdf) has a list of countries which they don't accept. I don't see Pakistan among them.
However, you should know that centralized exchanges can always change their rules overnight so you should always plan accordingly (don't store your cryptocurrencies there for longer than needed and use a balance that you are comfortable losing if something happened).

However, you should know that centralized exchanges can always change their rules overnight so you should always plan accordingly (don't store your cryptocurrencies there for longer than needed and use a balance that you are comfortable losing if something happened).

You are right but this is also unlikely that they will shutdown their service in Pakistan unless Pakistan govt wants to regulate cryptocurrency heavily. Otherwise, they are happy to serve countries where they don't face a problem. However, as you mentioned people should never store our coin on exchanges!

Pakistan is not banned and you can easily sign-up to take full advantage of their exchange. But you will probably have to go through a KYC process.

Their signup pages says,

I don't see Pakistan is in their list.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I also seen the list of countries which are showing banned in the sign up page at gate.io exchange but my concern is that when i search the internet (Google), it shows something else. There it says that Pakistan is not allowed to signup on this exchange. That's creating a confusion.

Just to let you know it was from March 2021. However, have you gone through the article and looked for a reference link? That would clear your issue.

They had included USA on the list on prohibited but they do allow it with limited services?

USA/Canadian/Japanese users are supported on gate.io now.

But your use of gate.io services are limited. 

You may not be able to access services such as lending, margin trading , perpetual contract trading and the trade of some coins.

If this is the case, I'm afraid the list of countries and US states restricted by the platform as per the information displayed on the site upon sign up is incomplete. And if OP cannot find Pakistan in the list of countries in the process of KYC, there's really no way he/she could use gate.io as the platform has a mandatory KYC requirement for all its users.

Have you tried asking on their Telegram or social media? Sometimes they are more responsive there for general queries like this. But anyway, if you can't find your country then it's safe to assume you can't use that exchange. Just stop your registration and move on.

I managed to snatched one human. But sorry OP. I meant to screenshot the whole conversation however the chat history was nuked before I could even do it. Good thing I managed to do 2 snapshots while I was waiting for them to respond.



For the last question, their answer was because they are working on supporting Pakistan. It's good that they are looking into supporting the country but it's not a done deal yet and so they should've kept it included in their list of restricted countries.

I'm sorry, but you're probably mistaken. Did you happen to read Potato Chips' response just above your post? It says there that Pakistan is not supported by Gate.io. Gate.io may have nothing against Pakistan but Pakistan has laws and regulations which somehow prohibit Gate.io from offering their products and services to its residents. So if you disregard this fact and proceed to create an account there, the moment you submit your KYC documents, the platform will automatically detect that you are from a restricted country. Your account might only be blocked. Be safe rather than sorry!

I used them with small amount and it works fine but i can say it is good because them TOS tell you they can ban your coins at any time so use them with small amount, contact them support team and never use public/free VPN.
They have some scam cases but i dont think they will ban you because your country

This is very poor advice in my opinion. How do you expect him to pass KYC, yet Pakistan isn't even in the list of supported countries?

Few days back I cleared this without any hassle because support send me reply now Pakistan is out of prohibited countries now they can create account and after clearing KYC use this without any issue but still please go with small amounts.
For good amount I am still comfortable with Binance and Poloniex as these both are my most favourite exchanges in long run here in crypto community.

Edit:  @logfiles  Now Pakistan is already in supported countries as I personally have email from them.
