the best option in my opinion is to store the key only by recording in a personal diary there are many keys that are stored in addition to bitcoin assets, such as email passwords..and also always maintain confidentiality by providing a foundation of knowledge to one of our families that we can believe..
Yes, recording in a personal diary will be the best place to store the keys and other important data that is related to us. Maybe the safety box will help us to keep that data so we can gather all important information about us but do not tell to people who we do not trust.

A ledger wallet can be a good place to keep the coins so we can take that Ledger wallet together in the safety box. I think we can rent the safety box from our banks so that can be safer for us from the thief.

I put it on a piece of paper and it's on my wallet, but of course i have some back up, not to my pc because it's not safe for phishing links around the internet and since its very old its quite skeptical to store, so i decided to have backup on a piece of plate made in steel because on that way i can assure no matter what happen my keys still fine.. Even Water, fire as long as i know where did i keep it no worries because it's totally safe..  Grin

If I had 2000 Bitcoin then definitely I would be capable to handle it. Normally I have been using Ledger Nano X, So I think it's enough to store 2000 Bitcoin. But definitely, I will use Multiple wallets with or without the same seed. What device or software are you using to store Bitcoin doesn't matter, then the fact is how are you going to keep safe your seed phrase. Protecting your seed phrase is the key save your Bitcoin. Usually, I wrote the seed phrase of my Ledger Nano in 3 sheets as they provided along with the device. I keep them in 3 separate places. So even I lost one I would find another. Besides that, I wrote my seed phrase in my crypto notebook. So even I lost three sheets with the device still I can access my Bitcoin.

Personally I used to write down all my private keys to my personal diary
When a single seed phrase can generate as many as possible keys and addresses, seed phrase easy to write down as they are made up of only words, rather than characters private keys are made up of which are long and hard to write down. Or did you meant seed phrase instead of the keys? Because it is better to backup the seed phrase.

But definitely, I will use Multiple wallets with or without the same seed.
Safe keeping of 2000 BTC? 2-of-2 multisig hardware wallets is perfect for me, and if I like, I can make it 3-of-3 to make it more secure for me.

Crypto investors are turning to Military grade vaults to safeguard their Keys. While some prefer to know the Keys by heart, some have their crypto stash in physical dedicated crypto wallets like Trezor and pay big money to have them stored in Nuclear sheltered safe vaults. Take for instance Swiss Crypto Vault who offers Nuclear sheltered vaults to crypto investors. if you had 2000 bitcoins what options would you pick?

I believe that is for those that have come out to publicly announce how much Bitcoins they are holding, hopefully, they might need that kind of place to store their keys  Grin but if you do have such an amount of Bitcoin and no one knows about it and you just store your keys like the regular investors, write them down on some diary or some personal Hard drive, and lock in some private home safe, I do think that is still ok.

if i had that many assets i would probably share them first (not putting in one wallet) but not going to keep my keys there either.
because regardless of anything I prefer and feel more secure if the keys are held by me personally.
on the other hand, with this, I think it will make the criminal's curiosity more motivated because the higher the security, the criminal will be more challenged to get it so I feel insecure about it.

Personally I used to write down all my private keys to my personal diary but instead of one copy I've write it down to two and keep it safe by putting it in a vault and portfolio which I preferably the portfolio that is a fire proof. I am afraid to make leave any copy of my security keys in my email or any possible digital platform that could be use to save any security phrases. I do prefer to save my crypto assets via hard wallet though I don't own bitcoin at all but of course I used to choose to protect my altcoin assets at any means because this is still my assets.
are you serious on that? listing your keys in your Diary? that will risk your funds mate because Diaries are vulnerable for being checked by some from your house or even your friends that come in your house.

yes , segregating or diversifying will help you to keep the funds safer .

Storing 2000 Bitcoins in a private online wallet is very insecure, I will choose an Offline wallet like a nano ledger because I think the Offline wallet is very safe from hacking. Maybe if I have 2000 Bitcoins, half of which I will convert to fiat and the other half as my investment and trading capital in the cryptocurrency market. No matter how good my wallet is, I still think I risk losing it because Bitcoin hackers and thieves are always lurking, so being careful when transacting is the key to our Bitcoin security.

While some prefer to know the Keys by heart,
This will be a very dangerous step for anyone to take. No one can keep a set of numbers and letters off handedly for long. What if someone suffers memory loss momentarily, and at that point needed to access their wallet? I think it's better to write it down on a piece of paper or save it physically. I don't even like the idea of saving it on phones or computers. Such easily gets into third party hands if saved on phones when stolen or put up for repairs when damaged.

It is very common for a phone or laptop to be stolen or snatched. Another thing is, my laptop broke down last year, I came to the store to repair it and the technician fixed it. A week after, my Twitter account was hacked. When I reported the matter to Twitter Support, they informed me that my account had been logged in from a different IP a few days ago, then I confirmed that this is definitely the job of the repairman. so, storing sensitive things on a laptop or mobile is definitely a dangerous thing.

Well, what you just said and did is basically just the same thing as writing your private keys in a paper wallet. Although, most papers if not protected their letters and writings will fade or worst being eaten by an insects. So, I think a vault is quite safe to be used for hiding such as diaries and paper wallet if no one has access to it.

But do you consider to put some clue or hints to someone that you trust like your wife/husband/son/daughter if just in case something's going to happen to you? I think you should consider to starts teaching them how to use Bitcoin and how to protect it then you can give them a hint or something to find a clue to where you hide your treasure if somethings bad happen to you in the future.

2000 BTC is roughly equivalent to around 134 million bucks which is why I would prefer the best option available even if meant spending a million bucks to successfully store the remaining 133 million bucks.

If nuclear sheltered vaults are the best option, I would obviously store all my BTC though I would research them thoroughly beforehand.
But the issue is the centralization aspect of it, would you trust your bank with 134 millions dollars? If the answer is no then what makes that service deserving of that kind of trust? To me it seems like the first place any government hungry for funds will go to try to steal anything that is valuable there.

As such it is better to find a way to store those coins securely by ourselves, I am not saying that is not a pain and a difficult task but that is the kind of problem everyone would wish to have.

They must do that, the government is sucking people's money through banks. I can challenge and say that no bank in the world can repay all the money of the people at once even after liquidating all their movable and immovable property. All the banks in the world are bankrupt, they know that not all people want to get their money back together and they are taking advantage of this opportunity to satisfy their hunger.

From the article Swiss Crypto Vault came to know about Swiss Crypto Vault is a joint venture between Zug-based crypto financial services firm Bitcoin SuisseExternal link and Swiss Gold SafeExternal link, a company that stores precious metals, art and other valuables in alpine vaults. What a big value, 2000 bitcoin. Who will think of holding those into a third party storage. If an users isn't satisfied/trust any of the vaults for storing the private keys, then it is good to biheart.

2000 Bitcoins is a lot, owning more than 100 million USD in bitcoins is crazy. If I had so much money I would probably sell some immediately and diversify the money into some alt coin projects and real estate projects. Having 99.9% of your net worth in one asset is very risky. It would be better to own a company, some apartments and have a well diversified portfolio then just bitcoins.
But let's say you want to keep the money in bitcoins and don't care about the price risk. Then spreading out the coins across multiple wallets would be the first step. Instead of having 1 wallet with 2000 bitcoins, I would rather have 20 wallets with 100 bitcoins. The best methods I read here on the forum are storing the seed on metal plates and then burrow the plates in your garden. Digging 20 holes might be a bit much, so getting a few private boxes at different banks would be the best solution for me. With so much money you could probably buy the whole swiss military bunker for yourself. But do you really want to store your coins so far away? What if you need to access your bitcoins quickly. I would rather have my coins stored closer to home. But I guess if you own bitcoin worth of 140 million USD you can fly any time you want to Switzerland.

Would be the riskiest thing i would say on which you do memorize your keys on just minding them off or know the keys by heart? Its true that even on the slightest memory gap would fucked you up.

It is likely that you would really be forgetting one of those seed phrases specially on holding for a long time and also we know that keys isnt always that something to be phrases.

How about those alphanumeric?  It would be sensible on storing  up your keys on a hardware wallet or as simple as writing it on a paper.

Yes, This one is the funniest thing I've ever heard Cheesy. I can't trust my heart enough to remember a random 256-bit private key.
The best way to preserve a private key is to engrave it on a metal body. And save a few copies in your personal vault to avoid getting lost in the future. Sometimes symbols can often be used instead of conventional letters.

The idea of keeping private keys in a military grade vault is good but if I have 2000 BTC the first thing is to split the coin into 5.

1) Buy 5 metal Bitcoin seed storage and according to Jameson Lopp heat, acid and crush test Quadrat Register is still the best.
2) Have 2 burials in my yard just like Walter Samaszko Jr.'s did (the Nevada man who died with $200 in the bank and $7 million worth of gold bar buried in his yard).
3) Keep 1 in a safety deposit box
4) Keep the remaining 2 in the military grade vault
Just for safety's sake.
