I store the keys in the book I usually use, then I take a photo of the keys and I save it on one drive with a different title and it won't interest people, of course I set the private image to be safe. and until now this simple technique has worked because the bitcoin balance I have is still safe.
Saving of private keys is best to safe offline, because those who save their key in their email it can be easily be hacked with the email, so that is the reason is encouraging to save offline, writing it on a paper is very nice and you is easy to get it back if it's properly documented, ig your children or beloved once can easily access your account if you are no more from you record of documents, but making a photo shoot of the private key can cause someone to enter to your wallet, i seen that like wrong aspect of savings a private key, because you can misplace your device and through you photo storage some can see your keys and moved in to your wallet, so from me it is not for me

Back in the days when im still a newbie, i did really make out some storing of my private keys on my gmail account until i do realize that it isnt really that 100% safe.As you do gain up experience
you would surely realize on what are the things that should really be done for you to save up with that specific risks on losing your assets since everything almost could really be exploited.
So if you do really care about security of your assets then having hardware or offline storages would really be much preferred or much more safer.

How do you know your keys are safe and secure in cloud storage? It might seem that the cloud makes things more secure, but the reality is quite different.

The cloud can be hacked and data is only as secure as the company that stores it, and only as secure as the encryption algorithms that are used to lock your data. Think about it like this: a hacker hacks into a cloud storage provider, gains access to all of the customer data that the company holds, and the only way to prevent this from happening is to avoid storing the data in the cloud in the first place.

It's true that a hacker can "steal" your keys from a company's cloud storage servers, but it's easy to protect yourself from that if you use encryption and obfuscate your data. By obfuscating your data, I mean disguising a file as something else. For instance, you can create an encrypted RAR or 7z archive containing the keys and then disguise it as another file (text file, word document, etc) by changing its extension (from .rar to .txt, etc.). Something that won't bring unwanted attention will keep you safe no matter what.

If I were the OP, I'd store my keys in more than one place (redundancy) in order to make them last for generations. There are so many ways to protect your crypto limited to your own imagination. As long as you follow the necessary security precautions, you'll have nothing to worry about. Just my opinion Smiley

right now, i'm store my private key on the flash drive, and my flash drive are save at my personal safe, and i think, it very safe, but another people say saving the private key on the hardware wallet, hardware wallet is the best choices if you have more money to buy it, because it working offline and you need to access it with your password / biometric
Agree it is the best to have it online and offline. I think dont just store it only in the flashdrive have a hard copy on it like youve wrote it in the paper since we dont know if the flashdrive will got corrupted or loss . The best is to have a lot of copy just to be sure you will have access to it but make it secured also because we cant trust all people
Indeed that having the 2 copies are great way to store our wallets but either of the 2? the most important part is where we will be keeping them safe because having 2 copies means having 2 chances of being stolen our funds so taking care of those 2 are the interesting part and way to keep safe our funds.
I am keeping mine in the most safest place for me but I will not reveal it here as i have some friends that also in bitcointalk that may threat my funds .

I have a very small and simple, but I think quite secure way of storing keys and other sensitive info as backups of my passwords I use in all sites I have registration.

I create an encrypted VM. Install Debian inside and install everything I need. Then, after installing every software I need and update the OS, etc, I simply remove any network/internet interfaces from this VM.

Then I run the VM, and create a LUKS encrypted container inside the VM where I save all the data I need and encrypt it inside the VM. I use GPG to encrypt files, folders, etc. This container is also encrypted itself with LUKS.
When everything I need is saved I close the container (which gets encrypted on closure) and finally I shutdown the VM. Finally, this VM file is also encrypted using GPG already in my host machine.

I also have at least 2 copies of this VM file in different places (not forcefully inside my host machine).

That is my small and simple OpSec for my sensitive data. I have several layers of encryption in case any of them fails!

Bitcoin is energy. Bitcoin is freedom

if you had 2000 bitcoins what options would you pick?
Depends if no one except me knows I have 2000 Bitcoin I would quitely store them in a paper wallet but in this very case my identity as a crypto investor is known by people around my neighborhood so definitely it's obvious to go for the military grade vault so I can stay safe because it's becoming more riskier by the day to disclose your indentity as a crypto investor
Yes, that's right, 2000 bitcoins is a very large fortune and we are one of the investors who will always be monitored by others. this makes our condition unsafe. so the safe is the best solution from break-ins and other attacks.

Wouldn't it be much better if I memorized my backup phrase? or write it down and leave 3 blanks words or phrase which you memorized in that way even if attackers find your phrase they would not be able to open your account. I have this question for a long time, what could be the advantage and disadvantage of this?

Securing may be a main priority to any crypto investors. Because there is so much hacking occurs in every investors wallet. So insure safety, you must store your keys to the safe places such as your email drafts, in your safest online notes or may be in the notebook of yours at home

if you had 2000 bitcoins what options would you pick?
In this case, I would probably first divide this amount into different wallets. On many wallets, with different balances. That is, I would do what is called risk diversification. Also, for storage, I would use various options: from physical methods (e.g. described here Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers) to using hardware wallets (various manufacturers). The part BTC that will be stored for a long time would be placed in a more inaccessible place (divided seed-phrase into several parts in different places, for example, in a bank cell), and the other part would be kept at hand for current needs.

To be honest, with such a significant amount as 2000 bitcoins, it seems to me that other methods will already be required, because the price of the bet is very high.

I store the keys in the book I usually use, then I take a photo of the keys and I save it on one drive with a different title and it won't interest people, of course I set the private image to be safe. and until now this simple technique has worked because the bitcoin balance I have is still safe.
I have also used the same technique. Although there are a lot of people who will tell you that this is not a safe way for you to store your private keys. But, I’ve been using the method for quite a long time now And I have never had any issues at all. Just as you are doing it, I store it on the one drive and save it with an information that wouldn’t  interest anyone.

And then I make sure that the account that I have stored it in on the one drive is an account that I don’t share or use for anything at all. Although all my accounts I always make sure that it's really safe, and I don't really give it out. I have a busy account which I use for whatever thing that I would want to do, and there are the ones that I do not use for all those stuff.

That's a smart way but what is if something happens with you, then your descendants have to know the way you have stored it.
I think they won't come up with the solution on their own unless they explicitly know that you have "hidden" Bitcoin.

Personally, I would make it very simple. There are special stainless steel plates on which you can engrave the seed words. Such plates are available from $30 on Amazon and your seed is protected from wind, water and fire.

I write them all down in a notebook and keep them in a safe and a copy in what I consider safe to me. I don't leave 3 words blank instead I swap the places of some words and my task is to remember exactly the words that I swapped places.

Your method is pretty cool too, but if you only have one bitcoin wallet it's very easy to memorize those blank words, but let's say a person has many different bitcoin wallets it becomes difficult because we cannot remember all those blanks words.

In general, you should not rely on your memory too much, since humans' mental powers are far from perfect and it can fail over time. For instance, experts have long known that we can tend to overestimate how well we remembered things. And that is why it is better to write things down than to rely on memory alone.

To ensure that your seed is protected over time, create many backups and make sure they are stored in multiple trusted locations.

How do you guys feel about putting the seed phrase into bank safety deposit box inside their vault? My local banks boxes need 2 keys. One is in the hands of bank, one would be with me. And if I suddenly die, they would tell my kid that I had box there and my kid would have access to that. So it would prevent the loss of phrases in case of sudden death.

Crypto investors are turning to Military grade vaults to safeguard their Keys. While some prefer to know the Keys by heart, some have their crypto stash in physical dedicated crypto wallets like Trezor and pay big money to have them stored in Nuclear sheltered safe vaults. Take for instance Swiss Crypto Vault who offers Nuclear sheltered vaults to crypto investors. if you had 2000 bitcoins what options would you pick?

1st thing would be to split those 2000BTC in at least 10 or 20 different addresses. Then I would think about where to store them. Probably would also chose different places, different systems, etc. Never put that much BTC all in one place, one single media, one single wallet, whatever... Split that shit for sure!

There are many places to  store secret keys you can find many of notes application on google. But it is risky because if anyone access you device then he easily access you note book so it is good to store keys in  paper dairy and put it on secret place.

Not everyone has that kind of money to be making use of a military grade vault to store their private keys. There are still many other ways that you will be able to do that without having to spend much money for it. The only important thing is that you never get to store it online where it is susceptible to hacking.

You can even make use of paper wallet, and after you have written your private keys on it you can then laminate it to keep it safe. And if you have a vault, you can keep the paper inside their safely. Some people also recommend cryptosteel  which is resistant to water and fire.  it is sold somewhere around $100.

Storing key online with much security in it is no doubt a very good way of storing your private keys but with all this security in it, it is still susceptible to hacking. Using online sites to store your private keys is not the safest way, I’d suggest it is saved offline, on a paper or something else and be stored in a vault only you can have access to. If it isn’t still prone to theft in the vault, you can write it on the paper with a language only can understand and depict immediately when you go through it. That’s the best way I feel your keys can be saved.

Have you watched the movie "The Bank Job" with Jason Statham?  Cheesy

Seriously, I would not rely solely on a bank's safety deposit box. What if there is an earthquake or some other natural or man-made disaster and the contents of the safety deposit box are inaccessible? A safety deposit box is not as safe as people think, but having seed in a second location is always a good idea.

Agreed, but I feel the bank is more secure location than my own home. With earthquake, fire and flood. I have to learn more anyways about banks policy about is there any chance for their employee to gain access to the box without me.
