Is there any huge performance using high end WiFi 6 routers for mining? I have a tplink router with old and slow components for mining and a friend  told me to upgrade for better speed, my Ping speed is around 120ms, too slow I believe but will high end router improves the speed?

Having a high-end router would benefit you if we only look at the communication between your miners and the internet. But it doesn't change your geolocation because if the connection you have with other servers is 120ms, it might not change, or maybe you will have a slight improvement. The significant thing that would change for you is the connection in your network. LAN, WAN, etc.

Ping will not change with the type of router you have.

The router sets up the LAN for you, to which you connect your devices. The LAN gets the internet access from the router which comes in via the WAN.

The Ping typically depends on your ISP and current weather conditions in your city, you should also read this:
https://www.business.att.com/resources/knowledge-center/what-is-latency-impact-on-gaming-streaming.html

As far as I know, for mining bitcoin, you dont need a fast connection, you just need a connection, even a dialup would work fine, it is that easy. Dont know if the same applies to specific altcoin mining.

The ping won't change, if this is why you getting the new router don't even think about it but I can promise you that you will have a more stable internet connection, it's will be more snappier and yes it will help in mining, it's like comparing 3G network to 4G network

120ms is a very good ping. I have a ping of 300-700ms in my village and the number of stale shares does not exceed 4%.
Don't waste your money buying expensive routers. I use Zixel routers with support for 3G / 4G modems, which cost no more than $ 50.
But I also used cheap tplink routers for $ 20, and did not notice the inadequacy.

Your 120ms ping speed is for what ? what do you ping when you get that number ? mining server ? ISP server ?
Or you just using a speed test application/website to find out your " ping" speed ?
If you are using any speed test site, then you are pinging the speed test server , not the mining pool address .

If you are pinging your mining pool , make sure your miner is set to the closest server to your geolocation. It also apply when you are using any speed test website , make sure you are testing your speed to the closest server to your location.

Your router not going to improve your ping , You will not reduce the ping times just by replacing a router.
Are you using wireless connection between  your mining gear and router ? if yes , try with LAN cable .

Also you can see what ping time you can get with / without router .
Unplug everything from the modem , connect your computer straight to the modem with LAN cable , and run the test ... ( reboot your computer)
Then connect your router to the modem , connect your computer to the router , and run the test .... ( reboot your computer)
If you want to see if there is any different between wireless / wired connection to the router , the unplug the network cable from the router , connect with wireless connection , and run the test ...  You should not get a big ping different between wireless and wired connection if you have the right setup . If you notice a big ping time different between your wired/wireless home setup , then you should start looking for a issue somewhere in your setup Smiley

First of all it depends on your ISP,what Downstream and Upstream you have from them, however for stability names like Cisco and Mikrotik routers make a big difference in the stability of your connection and sometimes even the ping speed for example when you are using Wireless, having a Mikrotik router which can be configured as a Wireless access point can make a big difference. This comes from my personal experience,I have a few mining rigs that I could simply not get with LAN/Ethernet cable and I used a Mikrotik router the latest version 4000 at that time and the ping improved drastically compared to the LB-Link router I had before. So even a router can make a difference in certain scenarios.Mikrotik routers don't cost a lot anymore,100-120 USD for one of the middle to high end routers.

All I noticed is that more expensive routers have better Wi-Fi and faster Wi-Fi connections.
If the mining farm is connected using a cable, then I see no improvement.
A standard router only has 4 outputs, so I also use a Dlink 8-port hub for $ 6.

My advice is you should avoid using WiFi if you got a bunch of rigs. For some reason the more rigs you got you run into stabilities issues with WiFi.

I use old router that are 15 years old and never have any problems. You can also connect one router into another and another if you need more connections. Routers got 4 lan outputs if you need more than 4 then get another router and plug the router into one of those connections and now you got connections for 7 rigs with your 2 routers.

wifi is always a shot in the dark. So many ways to drop connection.

I like mid priced four port routers

I hard wired every mining thing I do.

Two small switches to the ports on the router.

router >>>>switch > 2 big switches>>> lots of miners

router>>>> switch > 2 big switches >>>> lots of miners.

but I run a mix of gear.

sha asics
ltc asics
gpus

the key 🔑 is quality eth cables.

cat 6 good and less trouble
cat 5 good but maybe a bit quicker to fail

My take.

There are so many things that can mess up wifi it's best to avoid it altogether if possible, If not use a single wifi connection
from the modem to the farm then go wired to the rigs. Avoid chaining multiple switches. use bigger switches or hub and spoke
to minimize the hops, each hop adds latency.

Wi-Fi really works worse in mining and it's cheaper to buy a cable than to buy Wi-Fi adapters.
The difference in price between a hub for 8 ports and 16 is not big, but other models with 48 ports are used for ASICs.
And for farms from video cards, I see no reason to buy expensive hubs, because mining works great on cheap ones.
