The topic of this thread should be : "they wish they could stop Bitcoin"

As people in this thread have pointed out; if they could have stopped Bitcoin mining, they already would have. But I do agree with the fact that Bitcoin mining is bad for the environment. Not because it itself it bad for the environment, but because the energy production technologies are lacking and therefore are bad for the environment. So once we go from dirty energy production to clean energy production, mining Bitcoin will automatically not be bad for the environment.

But politicians like to point fingers at the wrong people. We know that.

Instead of wasting money on fruitless attempts on stifling Bitcoin mining, they should find better ways to produce clean energy. I for one am cheering for fusion energy.

Much better, I tend to agree with you.

Bitcoin has a truly decentralized nature so that no one can stop, no one can change the code and overall no one can destroy this because it's virtual and only works as a number of codes in computers.  It's a fool if there's someone to think that they can stop Bitcoin, no one can stop on it even Bitcoin developers doesn't have change on it, though they can fork the result isn't a Bitcoin at the end.

Before, the reason why most countries are hated Bitcoin is that this could be the biggest threat to their financial system, but yet, there is open-minded counter leaders who are now accepting Bitcoin and making it a legal tender.

maybe at this time all parties are trying to stop bitcoin in any way where many countries oppose bitcoin for their people, but in reality this cannot be realized because bitcoin cannot be stopped by countries in the world today, for example, what has been done by China, where they strongly oppose the circulation of bitcoin in the country, but until now it still can't be done for the bitcoin replacement process where they can only prohibit their people from adopting bitcoin but can't stop it

I think that when renewable energy will be widely used even to mine Bitcoin. People will be more calm and optimistic about Bitcoin. While it is being mined consuming so much dirty energy that pollutes our environment, there are a lot of people and organisation that are against crypto, but I think that  it will become greener soon and people will change thier tune.
No, it will be easier for states to completely prohibit the mining of cryptocurrency that uses the energy-consuming PoW algorithm and they will not understand whether it is used, say, when mining bitcoin, pure green energy or not. Even if miners use renewable energy sources, greenhouse gas emissions will still occur. The situation with climate change has been raised very seriously and the states will cut very hard.

Renewable energy is what Miners need to make through so Bitcoin mining wont cost any energy from the supposedly for Houses consumption .
While there are some who use already those energy (renewable) yet only few has the option , also Solar energy is now making more option to use (as some of my friends using this to mine).

I can't blame the government as they are also fair in using energy and not sacrificing the needs of others while giving prioritizing the mining industry. It was now the battling issue where to find another source of energy that could sustain the needs of this mining industry. Strict implementation of the rules makes to stop illegal mining activities and that it saves some energy as well. I think they are doing right and it wasn't mean they are trying to stop but instead, they'll find a way to become sustaining.

Energy generation is a big issue around the globe. Recently some countries faced the worst situation when there happened shortage of coal. In my country the coal accumulation was able to meet two days power generation, but somehow things got managed and now back to normal functioning. Same kind of power deficiency will be there. So, governments focusing on proper power management will disturb mining. But, through sustainable energy development things can be done in an efficient manner.

Demand would always be the key and that one wont really die as long this thing do exist no matter how government or someone would really tend to stop its current popularity and need in the market.

Yeah, i do somehow partake that it is like a wind which is somewhat true in terms on things on something which cant really be totally be stopped no matter how hard they do try.

It is really just depending on the demand that we are seeing now but once people is gradually changing their stance then we do see different story on here.

That's really true, can they stop what they can't because bitcoin is the choice of many and very difficult to change the choice of many

even if the third world war occurs, bitcoin can't be stopped, it's already impossible to stop it

in the end when they are tired of doing useless things, then surely they will support bitcoin back "lol"

Thousands of gamers and advertisement companies are wasting energy just for their own entertainment,
In a family where one car is enough, but most of the rich families are using a separate private car for each member of the family, So, where is your concern here!!
No one has a headache with global warming, no one has a headache with deforestation, no one has a headache with the greenhouse effect being affected day by day by the extreme use of CFC gas.
I find it very interesting and strange that nature lover people are concerned about just Bitcoin mining!!

A ban on mining alone would be bad, but not as bad as total ban on everything Bitcoin-related, like they did in China. Sure, it would make the network less decentralized, as the US and a few other top countries will end up with larger shares of hashrate, but at least millions of people from the most wealthy countries in the world would still be able to freely trade Bitcoin. This could even eventually lead to lifting of the ban once the adoption is high enough and there's a push for it.

But this ban is still very much hypothetical, and EU is slower to act than China, so it could take many years until such ban is implemented, if it will ever happen.

I remember there's news that there's a mining Bitcoin company that stealing electric supply on the subway train station, I don't remember exactly but as I remember they are stealing electricity from the government which is not good. I think you are right, government trying to be fair because there are some people abusing the capability of bitcoin that have come an anonymous those who are using this, and the reason why the government trying to find ways to stop this kind of activity. But the fact they can't because we know that no one can stop bitcoin.

For how many years we heard that there is too many organizations that anti- bitcoin but days come many countries decided bitcoin is to be a legal tender than prohibiting their people from using it which is in the way they also benefit too much.

They just can't point fingers on other industries that harnesses similar or even greater energy and produces similar or greater wastes because it will hurt their relationship with such industries. Bitcoin and crypto mining relying on PoW are easy targets, mainly because not a lot of countries and businesses are into it just yet. I understand the sentiments of those who signed on the Paris agreement that are trying so hard to reach their pledges, but they should also look into other industries that uses large amounts of energy and produces just as much waste in the end.

Then again, the fingers are already pointed, and sure enough bitcoin and crypto will take direct hit and be persecuted harshly and might even be blamed as the number one contributor in rising temperatures.
This is just an another attack regarding the PoW of bitcoin, it's just an another approach to bring an end to bitcoin or cease it. But still bitcoin stand at the pinnacle until now, and it is became more famous and trusted amongst the literate people.
Yes bitcoin is easy to make a target because they can't sue any owner of it but it's invulnerable to any attact and the more they attack, the more it will continue to grow.
And about that issue, bitcoin miners will be using solar panels or other eco-friendly way to ensure and minimize the GHG effect.

No, it isn't that "They will try to stop Bitcoin" according to your topic but that they already have been doing it. The exciting part though is that they won't be able to succeed at it.

A ban on mining alone would be bad, but not as bad as total ban on everything Bitcoin-related, like they did in China.
Even with the complete ban by the Chinese government, despite her population, Bitcoin is still thriving. At the end, China will be the sore loser in all that.

Indeed, right now the world is in an energy crisis and many countries, including European ones, are reducing the use of energy in order to save money. Since the mining of BTC and other cryptocurrencies will require a lot of energy, the authorities of these countries are trying to ban this type of mining, but this hardly means that they are against BTC itself. Probably a way out will be found and no one will prohibit BTC. At the same time, well, we must forget that right now we are on the verge of a new flight to the moon in the crypto market, and this news may also be related to influencing the price of cryptocurrencies. All this looks like manipulation, but unfortunately it is very difficult now to accurately predict what will happen next. So all that remains is to keep your finger on the pulse and follow the news and information.

1. The EU to consider an EU-level ban on the energy-intensive mining method proof of work. There are other methods for mining crypto-assets, that could also be used for Bitcoin and Ethereum, that are estimated to reduce energy consumption by 99.95% with maintained functionality.
2. Sweden to meanwhile introduce measures that halt the continued establishment of crypto-mining production using energy-intensive methods.
3. That companies who trade and invest in crypto-assets, that were mined using the proof of work method, cannot be allowed to describe or market themselves or their activities as sustainable.''

''A ban on the proof of work mining method within the EU could be an important first step in a global move towards a greater use of more energy-efficient crypto mining methods.''
From what I’ve understood about this, they are not trying to ban Bitcoin, rather they are trying to stop the use of energy intensive Methods in mining cryptocurrency. But even if that is their plan, to ban Bitcoin, then this is not our first time of seeing such. What you have to know is that even if one country decides to ban cryptocurrency, there will always be many countries that wouldn’t ban it and will always be in support of it.
At the start a lot of us normally think that if China should ban Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general that it is going to affect the whole cryptocurrency ecosystem and the community would go down.

But as time goes on, people started to understand that China is not the foundation and can never be the foundation that holds the cryptocurrency community. And when they took action and banned cryptocurrency, companies that operated in the country immediately shifted to other countries where they can function without any form of restrictions.

The missing part in your analysis in how they can't stop the wind caused by demand, is that demand in the case of bitcoin will also consider this product not to be ignored by almost all entities in the world. I mean that the scenario of illegal stuff (has a massive demand) won't happened with bitcoin.

Yes, they are? And the government cheats their people in a way that they never give this opportunity their people to enjoy and make a good living out of crypto. The government has their unfair decision, it is supposed they ask first to the community before implementing the ban. If that their purpose is to stop fraud, money laundering, and other illegal activities, that I think there is a way to decrease this coz this will never stop no matter what they do.
