GGG is a great athlete ...

The main complaint about him is that he has always boxed in the same weight class.  Because of this, he missed the chance to fight very strong boxers.  GGG has its own style of boxing.  His fighting style is very original.  He literally crushes his opponent.  Power jab looks amazing.  GGG moves perfectly around the ring, trying to pin the opponent to the ropes.

Murata is a very worthy opponent.  He is the favorite of all Japan.  And it is deserved.  He has a lot of experience in amateur fighting.  And in these fights, he showed willpower worthy of a samurai.  He is also very strong physically.  However, it lacks the agility and lightness of the GGG.  The fight promises to be very interesting.

In my opinion, GGG has a better chance of winning.

^^ Well he can't go up in weight, this his is fighting weight so I don't think there's much to criticized about GGG's career. He fought all the best in this division and at one time has the longest defense for a Middleweight boxer. As everyone said, Murata is good, he is Japanese and fighting in his home turf so there's a line of pride in the line. But GGG is different boxer, so he will be the odds favorite in this fight.

This is going to be an easy GGG battle for me. I haven't watched a fight of this Murata but looking at their statistics it seems obvious to me Golovkin has all the advantages. Not to mention that Ryota has been inactive prior to this fight for two full years. That will definitely matter. Of course, Golovkin, too, has been inactive but only for one year. It always bothers me why Golovkin was not given a fight for a year when age is not on his side anymore. Anyway, I'm a GGG fan and I still consider this man undefeated.

Good point, actually both of them are inactive, but Murata for 2 years.

So definitely there will be ring rust for him, although the fight is going to be held in his country, still being out for more than a year in boxing will really affect you in the beginning. And when you try to find your groove, it might be too late as we all know that GGG will always makes it a hard fight for anyone.

But Murata is no push over, he might be inactive for 2 years, but he is a champion. And like in NBA wherein you play in your home court and you have all the confidence because you know the crowd is behind you, this might be the case for Murata here.

He could be behind the judges scorecard, but for sure he will give everything in this fight because he wanted to please the local crowd and he is viewed as a hero in boxing.
Indeed this Japanese boxer is viewed as a hero for the people of Japan and Murata either won't be a duck soup for GGG, infact Murata is a silver and gold medalist in 2011 and 2012 olympics, respectively. Sea games and olympic boxing matches alone isn't gonna be an easy path and surely it counts as an experience but his boxing record is only 18 matches, so I suppose that matches he had in the olypics wasn't included.
So I bet it's gonna be a tough fight, GGG isn't going to have an easy fight because surely this Japanese boxer isn't easy to handle.

From the quality alone, it's clear that GGG dominates, regardless of whether or not Murata is compatible at this time. I don't think it's too much of a problem because now Murata can become one of the obstacles, even though there is little hope.
But on the other hand, fighting GGG in Saitama Japan would be a source of pride and strength for Murata. I hope there is a great game here.

There's probably enough time, I mean look at Pacquiao he's still fighting although a looming consideration of retirement. I think it's still not that bad that GGG is still fighting, I mean look at this perspective, see those years as experience accumulated which is an advantage rather than a disadvantage.

GGG is a very well-known fighter, even they will fight at Murata's place, bookies will still favor him.

It's interesting to see if how the pride will take this fight to the best level, it's for sure that Murata will try harder to beat GGG
while it's also the case with GGG, he will do everything for this fight.

He still fits to fight, and with his attitude, he still gets the interest of his fans. After this fight, if he wins it, maybe there is/are more fight to follow.

39 is considered early retirement, depends on the number of fights as well. As long as father time isn't very obvious on his most recent fight, the I guess he still can fight 5-6 more matches.
Most boxers retired with over 40+ professional fights, GGG could still fight till 50 career matches imo. elite fighters doesn't seem easy to beat even with father time occurred.

When age starts to  cling up then we would already assumed out that retirement is approaching and as a fan we already presume that it is really heading on there plus the upcoming fights wont really be that sparkly compared when its still on its prime but somehow it doesnt mean that we wont really be
seeing some good fights on here.Lets just anticipate for things to be look like this but as a fan thenyou are still expecting something on what you do
know about a certain boxer. When it comes to winning then GGG will take this no doubt.

I have this feeling that the poll will end with Murata getting a zero vote Golovkin is still good and he still has that killer instinct and even if he has not fought for quite some time, a fighter is as good as his last fight the long layoff will not be an indication that he losses his power and quickness, I have not seen any boxer that can keep up with him except of course Canelo, this fight is a good build-up if promoters and the boxing community still wants to see the third match against Canelo and Golovkin.

GGG   - 8 (100%)
Murata   - 0 (0%)
Draw   - 0 (0%)
Total Voters: 8
It is entirely possible, now the poll is 17-0 in favor of GGG and I doubt much will change, after all I am a boxing fan and I think I have seen Murata fighting once, while GGG is an international boxing star that I have seen multiple times above the ring.

So it is natural that people are voting for GGG to win the fight as they know about his boxing abilities above the ring while Murata is mostly a mystery to most of them.

Yeah, for casual fans, Murata is relatively unknown, mostly fans in Japan but he is the champion as well.

And majority of us have followed GGG, or at least seen him fights in the States many times specially the Alvarez fight wherein it was really close.

So majority will vote for GGG here, as he has all the tools to get Murata's belt and unify the MW again.

Just hope GGG does not suddenly show his age and fall to pieces under Murata's pressure style. GGG is still good, make no mistake about that, but he is not the fighter he once was. I. E. when he fought Canelo a couple of years back. The winner of this fight should take on Canelo who has been boxing against light hitting fighters as of late. Both GGG and Murata have the power to trouble Canelo. Even at 39, GGG can still punch hard although his work rate and footwork is not what it once was.

In my opinion, both have the same chance of winning. GGG is deadly by its name but he has already passed his prime.

I think the one that will trigger the 100% GGG is if he will have a chance for a trilogy with Canelo.

That's what he wanted before retiring and not this match. But since Canelo doesn't have an interest, GGG should prove that he's still a worthy opponent for Canelo by defeating the Japanese Champion Murata.

Not sure about that, but let's just see how the bookies would rate this fight. I believe that GGG will still be the heavy favorite here, even if he is old.

The Japanese champion had most of his fights in Japan, which means he has not faced the best fighters in the world yet, this is probably his first time and though GGG is already 39 years old, this man is built with steel too, he can destroy his opponent with his power punches like Canelo.

As for me, I'm also hoping for GGG vs Canelo III, but I have to be realistic that it's unlikely to happen.

^ It is Possible that they have a fight between GGG vs Canelo III and it could be pointed out by the WBO seems like what happened to the previous boxers.
But that is definitely right, I am in favor of GGG here and it seems Canelo was on underdog status because GGG has a number of supporters and promoters. It is a week more to go than we can able to see the fight and we will prepare for that live event because it is hard to go there and watch personally, we don't know the risk because still, we are under in pandemic.

He might be past on his prime but doesnt mean that he's not capable on giving a good damn fight! He might really be interested for that trilogy but it  cant be possible so does he have any choice?

If he plans on retiring then he would be making it to be that looks good and wont be ending up on having a loss which wont really be that appealing. Therefore, i dont really
see any degradation of performance on intentional scale.

I never thought of this angle, when you said he did not fight anyone above his weight class i had to check his career record and the weight class he fought throughout his career and it is true that all of his fights are in the middleweight division. Now he is 39 years and i doubt he will be moving up in weight, but when he did that in his prime he could have won most of the matches.

I don't think the weight class is the main issues to fight with top boxers, he already fight with Canelo Alvarez (the best middleweight class) but the thing he's lost. It will be different if he win from Alvarez, obviously he will be moved to Light heavyweight class.

Anyway Murata is one of good boxer in this class, if he lose then he shouldn't move to other class.

Even though he is at the peak of his career, he is still one of the best boxers who step up in the ring and this upcoming fight will be no different from the other fight where he beat every opponent with a knockout except for a few. more likely this fight would end in the early rounds like the last Japanese fighter he fought which was quickly ended in the eight-round due to multiple one-sided punches by GGG.

One of the toughest challenge or gamble for a certain boxer is that they would decide on stepping up on a certain or higher division which could really be that dangerous yet you know that there are fighters which are stronger but it doesnt mean that it cant be handled yet we know there are boxers who had able to attained several weight divisions.

For the best time being then staying up with the current division would be ideal and its true that Murata is really something good on this class so he shouldnt really be that confident.

It's not hard if he is not thinking of not risking his undefeated record. It's a challenge IMO, and being undefeated is not the main basis to consider if the fighter is the best, it's on how he challenges himself on fighting the best fighters in a division that he thinks he can still handle. Like Pacman, he is not undefeated and yet people think that he is better than Mayweather.
