^ Well in recent memories, Manny Pacquiao vs Jeff Horn in Australia. The fight was held there and despite what the majority saw in the fight, it was the judges who awarded the win to Jeff Horn.

So you can't discount the fact that probably a hometown decision could really favour Murata here. So GGG really needs to go out and try to knockout Murata early so that it won't go to the judges in the end. He needs a clear victory here.

I am least bothered by the possibility that the judges' scorecards will be the final say in this fight. I am in admiration of GGG's boxing skills and power so I don't think Murata is a threat. The way I assess both fighters, they are not on the same level. GGG belongs to a higher class of boxers. I am hoping that GGG will be able to show that he is still the young fighter and simply knock Murata out. But if he fails that and the decision will have to reflect how the judges saw the fight, I still believe GGG will win unanimously.

He needs to show it convincingly though, it there is a close round then maybe the judges will sway it to Murata. And we all know that judges saw the fight differently as compare to us who are watching it live on TV.

So if GGG can't knock-out Murata, he should at least be clear in winning the rounds and show be stepping up the numbers so that there will be no doubt in the judges eyes that he is clearly the winner.

With the power of GGG, he will likely win by KO than by decision and being a professional boxer for so long, I'm sure he also knows that when he fought in a different country, usually the hometown boxer will be favored, so he must win convincingly but to be safe, it should be by KO.

Currently, the poll in this thread has favored GGG to 23 votes and zero votes for Murata. Indeed, GGG is really the crowd favorite wherever I read about this match.
According to their record GGG has the experience and knockout advantage compared to Murata. GGG's record is 41-1 (36 KOs) while Murata's record is 16-2 (13 KOs). Both their KO rate have frankly small gaps, 88% and 81% respectively. So that leaves GGG to have the upper hand in this fight but he will have to endure and overcome the challenge of fighting the opponent in his own country where Murata is viewed as hero and a gold medalist in boxing during the olympics.

Feel sorry for those who had high hopes for Murata to win because this wont gonna happen even though he viewed as a Hero and  gold medalist but wont really be that enough to beat out GGG and its no surprise that users on this forum had the same impression too and if you do talk about experience
then  its a huge gap and even KO percentage is almost the same but those numbers wont really able to be justified out but GGG shouldnt really
be that confident because we know that there is some sort of lucky punch that we do know.

Higher betting odds means lower chances of winning, that simply tells that wherever this fight will be held, Canelo will still remain as the favorites to win the fight. Man, look at the betting odds below, it look like Murata has no chance of winning the fight.

Hey, what are you talking about here?

Are you aware we are not even talking about Canelo Alvarez?

You are looking at an old article published almost two years ago about the possibility of a Canelo-Murata match. It did not even push through. Those odds were not even posted by bookmakers and sports betting sites because there was no Canelo vs. Murata match.

The odds of GGG vs. Murata is highly in favor of GGG with 1.16 and Murata with 4.60.

GGG is now comfortable to go out of his comfort zone and travel and fight other boxers even in his hometown. Before, all of his fights is in EU but he since go Stateside and no problem traveling so I guess that is a non factor in this fight. As far as the votes goes, boxing fans here are intelligent and smart that's why they know that the money here should be in GGG favor. It's just when the fight comes we are going to look for betting options for greater odds.

Lol, I'm also at lost in the beginning when I see Canelo Alvarez name in the odds.

Anyhow, probably just an honest mistake and we all know that this fight is GGG vs Murata.

Maybe we will see the same odds though in favour of GGG because of his outstanding records and his resume as compare to Murata. And we are just like 3 weeks++ in this fight. And as boxing fans for sure a lot of us are happy because there are a exciting fights this coming December for us.

GGG has more experience than Murata. He is a great boxer and I like to see his precise punching again although there might be difference now because of his age compared to his performance few years ago, but I believe he still have the power to win.

On the other side, Murata is younger and a tough fighter as well but it seems he is lacking on defensive skills based on my observation in his previous fights. Anyway since it will be held on Japan, certainly he will have a great support from his countrymen.

Yes, that one thing we need to look at his fight, whether GGG at 40 has still the same punching power because he can get old overnight. Obviously, he has the experience here and face a lot of boxers, great one than Murata.

On the other side, Murata is younger and a tough fighter as well but it seems he is lacking on defensive skills based on my observation in his previous fights. Anyway since it will be held on Japan, certainly he will have a great support from his countrymen.

Murata is also a champion, although he didn't have the caliber of fighters that GGG face, still he has some in his arsenal that can be pull an upset. Specially that this fight will be held on his home country, he will simply not going to get down that easy and will fight to get a win as well.

Honestly, even looking at all sides, I can't find a way how Murata will beat GGG.

Regardless of age, experience really matters. We are not talking about GGG here at 60 years old. He still can fight and he is active in boxing. Regular training continues and he didn't idle for a long. The power is still there.

At 41-1 record, actually, it's almost a clean record for GGG. Canelo just manage to beat him.

But on the positive side, this will be Murata's good chance to show what he can do. The fight against GGG will be his big break regardless of the result.

I see that as an advantage on the side of GGG, If Murata will try his old style to GGG counter punching may lead him to lose.

GGG even at his age still a solid puncher, he can knock you down with a solid combo but I think Murata review all those fights of GGG

and his respect for this former champ is also there, he will try everything to win in front of his own fans. He just need to adjust and make sure that

he will not allow GGG to corner him and knock him down.

That's easier said than done, GGG is a quality fighter, everyone knows him while Murata s not even known or in the top 10 of the pound-for-pound ranking. I know he has the fans but in terms of skills, GGG has a very clear advantage.

Higher betting odds means lower chances of winning, that simply tells that wherever this fight will be held, Canelo will still remain as the favorites to win the fight. Man, look at the betting odds below, it look like Murata has no chance of winning the fight.

https://bettinginsiderjournal.com/sports/boxing-odds-canelo-alvarez-opens-as-huge-betting-favorite-over-ryota-murata/

Quote
Canelo Alvarez vs. Ryota Murata Odds
Fighter   Odds
Canelo Alvarez   -1300
Ryota Murata   +800

Hey, what are you talking about here?

Are you aware we are not even talking about Canelo Alvarez?

You are looking at an old article published almost two years ago about the possibility of a Canelo-Murata match. It did not even push through. Those odds were not even posted by bookmakers and sports betting sites because there was no Canelo vs. Murata match.

The odds of GGG vs. Murata is highly in favor of GGG with 1.16 and Murata with 4.60.

I have also posted the odds. GGG is clearly the favorite with 1.16 and Murata the big underdog in this match with 4.60. It is very clear with the odds that despite GGG travelling into the hometown of Murata, bookmakers are still finding the former being the probable winner. Hometown advantage is clearly not a big deal in this match. That's as far as the odds are concerned. I agree with the odds. I cannot even understand how Murata is the best opponent of GGG.

He is not the best according to the odds, otherwise, Canelo would not be heavily favored to win. However, since Canelo is moving up in weight and he will face a natural big man, then for sure we can't guarantee that he will win in this fight. When two fighters fight and one is unknown, it would usually make the popular fighter the heavy favorite.

The users in this forum is I think 70% to 80% bettors to sport like basketball, boxing or even MMA. That's why it's easy now to spot who has the upper hand in-terms of skills and experience. It's not new anymore that GGG is the favorite because he already proved his skills to the fans across the globe that he's the bigdeal whoever he fights and wherever it's going to take place. 88% KO rate is so high to put the Japanese fighter to his knees or even knockout cold if it catches 1 lucky punch from GGG.

When it comes to sports fans then this forum does have lots of variety or type into those people who do love not only basketball, mma or boxing but also with football and other sports as well which it isnt surprising.

Of course we could able point out on who would be the one will really be on advantage or even just seeing with those stats alone then you could
really tell on who could really win without any doubt.

You could able to compare it and there are times which we do various situations which we can see it that it would be a tough fight for someone.

This without a doubt could become a problem for GGG, we know that Murata is going to have the support of the fans during that fight and this affects the way judges score the rounds, after all is a known fact that referees on soccer matches favor the local team when it comes to their ruling, so something similar most likely happens with boxing as well, so GGG will have to win each round convincingly or he risks that a round or two that could have gone either way go to Murata, and that can be more than enough to decide a close fight in favor of one of the fighters.

This fight will have to be postponed because of travel restrictions in Japan:

Quote
"I am deeply disappointed that fight in Japan has been postponed but the health and safety of the public must always be the priority. I look forward to returning to the ring against Ryota as soon as possible," Golovkin stated to his followers.

https://www.boxingscene.com/golovkin-vs-murata-pushed-back-due-travel-restrictions--162461

But the planned is to stage this one on the first quarter so everything is not lost. We just have to wait till everything settles down next year.

For sure, these two are disappointment as well but what can we do, this is the world we live in right now.

That's really too bad if the fight is going to be postponed for next year.

Nevertheless, Japan is one country wherein they have the strictest policy as far as Covid-19 health protocols so with the new variant, we have to understand what they are doing is for the good of everybody concern specially GGG because he will be the one to travel.

So yeah, have patience in this fight and wait till the next official announcement.

Why it's too bad? December 29 is the scheduled date and it's almost the next year already.  If the fight will be postponed for 1-2 months, that would also be no problem. More than that, still fine as long as it should happen next year.

More preparations for Murata to think of a way how he will beat GGG. We as viewers know that GGG might take the win but we want an explosive bout to watch so let's allow Murata to prepare more.
