As far as previous updates are concerned about when is the reschedule date, no changes to the first date and it's still likely to be March or April.

However, the venue might be changed and that's what organizers are dealing with right now.

Regardless, I like the fight to be held on the original venue, Saitama Super Arena in Japan so that Murata will somehow have an advantage as fans watching live to support someone will boost a boxer's morale despite being an underdog on that match.
I also still like it to proceed on the same venue in Japan, at least we will see how GGG will respond to the crowd because for sure they are going to cheer for Murata here.

However, we've seen that GGG is not affected by it, I remember him fighting Kell Brook in O2 arena and it's pro-Brook crowd obviously. But it doesn't bother GGG a bit as he stop Brook and broke his orbital bone that fight.

Fighter's most likely being inspired when they wanted to prove how great they are, and with the crowd is against them, they wanted to showcase their talents. I know that GGG wanted that, and he wants to have more fight to come; the venue is good to prove that he
(GGG) still has that killer instinct when it comes to this sport.

No further update yet and with this omicron, for sure Japan will continue to monitor the situation before they will decide. Cool Wink

The virus is spreading everywhere, changing the venue wouldn't help because they are also looking for a venue that will attract a lot of people, and IMO Japan is the best venue as the Japanese will definitely support their own even though they know that GGG is the better fighter. As the omicron virus continues to disrupt the world, let's hope the cases will be minimize so this fight will eventually purpose, hopefully in the 1st quarter of the year.

Even we don't want this delay, we have no choice. And I agree with you that we might see some improvements during the last months of the 1Q of the year. Actually, they can proceed by changing the venue but they are just waiting for Japan's decision regarding that.

The same with others, I like the fight to stay in Japan. GGG has almost the all advantages of the fight and Murata should have one too and that's by playing in their home country.

There's no update yet regarding Japan's travel ban, they may have a different policy than the USA and that would be a hindrance for this fight to happen early next year. I just hope for the best and that these two fights will finally fight each other as a big fight is always a good start for the new year.

Yes, there's no update yet in regard to this fight,

no schedule yet and both fighters can use these opportunities to train harder,

I still eyeing to see GGG inside the ring and showcase his talent. He still got good

space in this sport and he still can fight if given a chance to meet with other good boxers.

Small step for now, winning this fight from Murata may open the door for more promoters to see his worth.. Wink

If Murata can beat GGG without a doubt this will bring him to the spotlight, even if GGG is not at his best anymore due to his age he is still a very good fighter and even a victory over him by a small margin will increase the visibility for someone like Murata that is mostly famous on is own country.

That being said it is not going to be easy, GGG is still a champion and has a lot of experience in this kind of championship fights, so if I was Murata I will try to take it slow during the first rounds and then try to take advantage of the old age of GGG in the last rounds.

That's a nice idea and move you got there, Murata needs to take action in the middle or late rounds when GGG's tanks ain't that full anymore and tests GGG's capabilities in the early rounds. I think that's the best choice Murata got because if he try to follows GGG's hype in the early rounds then that might be the end of Murata as we know that GGG is good at close fight and definitely had more experience than the Japanese boxer.
That being said, I do think that GGG have still the upper hand in this upcoming match even if he's much older than Murata. Also, Murata's skills/capabilities will be tested on this fight as it's going to be a really big break for him if he eventually defeat the crowd favorite and champion GGG.

That is good, I was afraid that the fight would be canceled as it has happened with other fights already due to the reinforced measures to prevent entry to the new variants of covid that are appearing all over the world.

Still the fact that the fight is going to be delayed by that much is a problem for both fighters as they had created their own schedules about when they needed to be in top shape for the fight and now they need to readjust it, something that is not easy to do especially when we take into account that fights can be very close, and a small difference on your endurance can be the difference between winning and losing the fight.

With the Japanese government's firmness on this I feel this is a pretty good measure to prevent the spread from spreading, but on the other hand we also have to be willing to wait for delays like this fight.
actually I was really looking forward to this but indeed we won't be able to do much because instead of taking risks with a virus like this maybe it's better to just follow the advice from the government

A very big break in terms of popularities, beating GGG would put his name at the top, social media will create big noise with this upset.

Though it's really tough to say that he can do this strategy, most of the time when a fighter got lock there's no other option but to fight back

and try to overpower their opponents. This would be the advantage of GGG once Murata tries to go toe to toe, experienced wise in orchestrating

a KO, GGG would not miss that opportunity.

Seems that this first quarter of the year is not looking good because of the omicron variant.
We may see this fight in the second or third quarter of this year.
But while waiting, GGG and Murata can prepare for their upcoming fight.
GGG is already in his 40s, so let's see if he can still wait this long and still have the power inside the ring.
It may be GGG's last hurrah inside the boxing arena. So yes, this is quite interesting to watch.

If against Murata, I don't think this will be a hard fight for him, at least a more quality fighter, but this one, I'm sure he can win it with ease. Though it seems like it's not gonna happen again but I hope his last Hurrary will be against Canelo, for sure fans would be happy to see that.

Cant still be sure as long the fight isn't over yet we know that upsets could happen but on just basing with real experience and power then I could say that GGG could easily fucked him up.

Some saying that Murata would win on decision which would really be putting a big intrigue if ever this one happens but if he could take him down directly then I don't see any possible reason
for them to give on.

I would stick on GGG bet but as said this would might take a while yet we are facing again these delays and postpone due to virus.

Regardless, I like the fight to be held on the original venue, Saitama Super Arena in Japan so that Murata will somehow have an advantage as fans watching live to support someone will boost a boxer's morale despite being an underdog on that match.

Well, the important thing is that the fight can be carried out, it would be very sad that due to many interests on the part of organizations or other types of forces, whether they are managers or others in general, it is not carried out, as has been previously done. That said, everything is a business model, here what must prevail is the sense of sport and entertainment, despite all the things that have happened in the world such as Covid-19 that kept all of 2020 in quarantine and then in a eventual confinance, the boxing industry, like any other sport, have suffered a drop in income and I think that for now this is the only reason they are looking to keep going again.

Though it seems like it's not gonna happen again but I hope his last Hurrary will be against Canelo, for sure fans would be happy to see that.

Unfortunately, even a massive cry from the fans will request this, it's unlikely that the Canelo-GGG trilogy will happen. Canelo is already on the mission to be the pound-for-pound fighter and if possible, wants to unify all the belts on Cruiserweight. And even prior to that, he already showed no interest in the rematch as he claimed, he already beat GGG twice.

A win against Murata might catch Canelo's attention but not enough to fuel a negotiation about the possible trilogy fight.

and if in case GGG will win on this Murata's fight, he's already 40. so we don't know if he will continue to fight afterwards or hang the gloves for good. and if Canelo is not interested anymore, i also doubt that win over murata will change his mind.
oh well, let's wait first when will this ggg vs murata will finally happen. if it will be delayed and delayed, ggg's retirement from boxing will be in the horizon.

Beaten up twice would be enough and there's no need for more proofs on whose the better fighter between the two which even us would able to determine it out thats why its better
not to anticipate or hope that much so that you wont really get frustrated if things wont really happen out and speaking about beating up Murata then i dont see that it
would really be enough on drawing attention. Possible if GGG would have those consecutive winning fights then who knows right?

That's the only way. But on how much consecutive win, that's the question. GGG should not even look up to that fight to happen but instead, regardless of who's the opponent just focus on it. Murata is a champion and he needs to snatch that title for a much bulky titleholder that might get Canelo's interest again.

But to me personally, I don't like now the trilogy. GGG vs Murata should not be accompanied by talks involving Canelo.

Well, everytime we are talking of GGG, there's always a name Canelo attach to the conversation as we all want to see a trilogy between the two. They are the best in their division and it was only GGG whom Canelo did not dominate in a fight, so for the last time before GGG will retire, we want to see a Trilogy.

Thats a fan perspective but overall they are the ones who do make out decisions whether there's a trilogy or completely cut off that rivalry because there would be no point on proving out something
which had already been given a total period.
I agree on that point that whenever we do talk about GGG then there would be having those kind of talks or attachments in Canelo which i would say an unavoidable kind of mentioning these names.
GGG would snatch out that title for sure and i dont have doubts on that.

It is normal if the name of Canelo surfaces every time the name GGG is talked about. That is expected because they have an unfinished business. They both are involved in a fierce rivalry. Not to mention that the results of their two fights were all controversial. When they had their first fight, both of them claimed victory despite the split decision draw that was made official. The second fight, Canelo won but still very controversial because many believed GGG won. That's why there is a strong demand for a trilogy to seal the controversy once and for all.

But of course they will have to finish their other business first like this Murata fight for GGG.

If they'll hear the fans and they want to make money, then for sure they'll fight, or  Canelo will give GGG a chance to fight with him before he will officially retire. GGG is going 40 years old this year, which is near retirement age. Hope that would happen this year, otherwise, we should not expect anymore.

I agree, it's just like Manny and Floyd, seems to be their names are attached to each other until Manny retires. As for Canelo, he didn't give GGG a chance for a trilogy so we really don't know what will be the score. But as we can see Fury vs Wilder has it's trilogy and so many others in the history.

But it seems that GGG has remain in the 160 lbs and reclaim his belt and will likely to continue with his career until he retires without getting that Canelo trilogy.

I don't know, but it seems that Canelo has close the door already, he will be going up in weight as CW and that is too much for GGG right now who campaigns at 160 lbs. So I already forget about that idea of another fight between the two.

And as you have said, GGG is already 40 and we don't know how many fight is left in him. Maybe against Murata this year and another one perhaps before the end of the year.
