If in case there's a chance for them the advantage still favoring Canelo, it's been mentioned that age is the big factor, Alvarez still on his prime

And if we think about the timeline for the possibility of Alvarez vs GGG III, it will take about a couple of years early since Canelo has already more lineup on his plan. GGG during that time will be on his 41st or 42nd which is now considered as too veteran fighting against the prime.

The only thing I can think about if we will say we really have to see the third bout between these two is, if Canelo will lose on all his next scheduled fights.

Maybe yes, if Canelo wants to have good exposure, he can bite this call from GGG camp and let his name be back on track.

Not sure though if that's part of his plan since he already moves up and he is really eager to create another hype with his name.

Still on his prime and he still has a lot of options. If ever he loses his upcoming fight, it's all going to depend on his camp and

those interested promoters to offer him a decent amount for the next upcoming fight. Wink

I dont see any interest from Canelo on having Trilogy from GGG even though it is really that on demand and he could make out some good money on this one but still i dont see the probabilities.
He is still on his prime and he could able to hype up his name without fighting GGG again and would go into other track.
As for GGG then beating off  Murata would be looks to easy, well its just my own opinion but this is what im seeing basing in difference with their experience alone.

I see the probability if they are the same age but they're not and they're going in a different direction in their boxing career right now. Canelo will be the biggest star by defeating every opponent from now on when he still has the chance to prove himself he is currently one of the best boxers in his era. GGG, on the other hand, is close to retiring and only needs a few fights to conclude his career and step down with pride and contentment.

Don't forget Canelo want to move his weight to Light heavyweight, not middleweight anymore... obviously this will make so much different from their previous fight. This will make GGG had lower chance to beat Canelo, so I don't think Trilogy will make different result.

Yep it's looks like GGG definitely will win in this fight, but based on his record if they've rematch for the second fight... I will go for Murata due to his hungry revenge person.

Yes, and it's been pointed that age really the big factor here. While Canelo still on his prime GGG have only a few years before retiring.

Thanks @Fatunad for your opinion and maybe even Canelo won't win his upcoming fight. There are still many other challengers that will call out

for him and deal with a fight. GGG trilogy is by far, if Canelo still interested he might give it before he jumps up to another division..

Just saying.. Wink

If he will lose against his next opponent, then maybe the trilogy has a bigger chance of happening. We like to see that, personally I like a trilogy although Canelo beat GGG in their last fight, but you can never see a close fight on Canelo in the year that he was dominating, so you can blame the fans of asking for the Canelo vs GGG trilogy.

If GGG looses to Murata, then a trilogy GGG vs Canelo might happen, or if Canelo looses to Ilunga Makabu a trilogy might happen? Sorry, I did not get what you tried to say.

Canelo already told multiple times, he is not interested in fighting GGG for the third time, because he is not interested in fighting against an opponent he has already beat. He is hardly interested in fighting GGG, because looks like he is no longer interested in that weight class. He wants to advance and go further. Staying in middleweight wont give him anything except money, that he does not really need that much right now.

P.S. If Canelo really needs money, he can do some exhibition fights. That will be easier and bring more $$$.

I think he is referring to Canelo losing against a heavy opponent in Cruiserweight, because if he loses, he will have to go down as that means he cannot beat a natural heavy fight, with that, there's a possibility that he will meet GGG in a trilogy.

This is only an speculation as we don't really know their plans, what if GGG is done chasing Canelo, or what if Canelo already close the book on a trilogy fight even if there's a lot of money to be made.

It is obvious by now that Canelo is no longer interested for a GGG fight. He has move on already, fights at 168 lbs, unify the belts, fight LHW won, and now going up to CW division and still on top of his game. While GGG as much as we wanted to see him still fight in the next 2-3 years, might be just unwinding and getting all the money as he can before he retires. So a win here is good for his legacy wise and might fight 1-2 more before hanging his gloves for good as he is going well over 40 years old and might lose to younger guys in his division with the likes of Charlo who is coming as the new cat in 160 lbs.

I wouldn't close the door of possibility yet, maybe after Canelo wins against a fighter in CW division, it's a good sign that he will stay in that division and try to play his game like what he did in his past division where he became an undisputed champion, for now, let's just wait and see and continue speculating.

I don't know, but it seems that Canelo has close the door already, he will be going up in weight as CW and that is too much for GGG right now who campaigns at 160 lbs. So I already forget about that idea of another fight between the two.

And as you have said, GGG is already 40 and we don't know how many fight is left in him. Maybe against Murata this year and another one perhaps before the end of the year.
I agree, the door for a possible trilogy against Canelo is complete closed and it is never going to happen with Canelo moving to the CW division, also many people saw GGG win at least one of those fights so I doubt that Canelo is going to want to fight against GGG despite his age.

And talking about his age, what is happening with the pandemic is something terrible for people like GGG, which are at the end of their careers and saw their careers interrupted with no opportunity to get all the time they lost back.

It's hard to imagine that the pandemic has been staying for too long, though it interrupts the sporting industry I'm still hoping soon our life will be back to normal and we will see GGG retiring after a good fight. Though it's unlikely to happen a GGG vs Canelo trilogy, we will still remain hopeful because it was one of the greatest matches up we saw in boxing history, two great warriors sparring in the ring like they are not afraid of each other.
As someone that likes the sport of course I would like to see a third fight between Canelo and GGG but it will require a huge deal of effort from both parties to make it a reality and I simply do not see the will to do so.

Now personally I think that we have already went through the worst the pandemic could throw at us, since have already learned how to live with it and as time passes and more people get the virus without deadly consequences we will see a slow return to some sense of normality, however by the time this happens athletes that were on the verge of retiring will not be able to enjoy the benefits of this.

Or maybe Canelo is not really build for the Cruiserweight and it's too much for his body to put that much weight. So maybe he can go down to 175 lbs or even his natural weight class of 168 lbs.

This is only an speculation as we don't really know their plans, what if GGG is done chasing Canelo, or what if Canelo already close the book on a trilogy fight even if there's a lot of money to be made.
I think the burden is on GGG now, the pressure is on him since he is the older guy here at 40 years old while Canelo is in his prime. If Canelo says yes at a catch weight then maybe we can see the fight one last time.

I think the burden is on GGG now, the pressure is on him since he is the older guy here at 40 years old while Canelo is in his prime. If Canelo says yes at a catch weight then maybe we can see the fight one last time.

I don't see pressure because this fight is only a bonus to us if it will happen. And besides, even GGG is already 40 years old, he would not feel some pressure since he has not lose in a fight recently, the confidence is still there and he could think that age is just a number.

The problem is that age is just a number until it is not, athletes hit a point in which it does not matter how much they prepare and how much they take care of their bodies, their age begins to show and young athletes begin to beat them simply because they are young.

GGG has not reached this point yet but taking into account his advanced age then it is not going to be long until this happens, which is why the pandemic is so tragic for athletes like him, as it has cut down significantly the opportunities that we had to see him in action before his performance goes down due to his age.

Our body does really deteriorates which is inevitable and this is where people or athletes would be considering on retiring because they do know that they are already out of their prime and these postponement and delays due to health issues or global problems we are facing now is indeed a big pain in the ass for most athletes which is getting older. The longer that they wouldnt able to fight even if they do maintain out their body
then there would be always that degradation in terms of performance and overall capability which wont really be the same into those times that they were younger.Hopefully that this one would
really push through for this year and wont be waiting up for another one.

An effort between two fighters, they don't need to work harder to sell this fight as a trilogy would automatically gain people's attention to watch the fight. It's not gonna be hard, they just have to give the fans request one more time and in return they'll get a good payday again.

They can do the routine but in an actual fight their age still have big factors, likewise the body condition is no longer the same and active fighters/players knows that, even inside them they still thinking that they can continue fighting but once they already dealing with it that changes in their capabilities will come up, some limitations due to their bodies will show.

This delay, because of the pandemic crisis, limits those older fighters. They are running out of time and they need to take every
opportunities that's being offered to them.. Wink Roll Eyes

That's why as a boxing fighter this is one of the considerations that they need to prioritize because let's say even if they still have the willingness to fight however their body strength is not cooperating already and for me, that's alarming because they may be possible get injured or get the worst injury. So whether they like it or not they should consider it but I guess GGG and Ryota's age are just a 3 years age gap and based on their present age they still have the good strength to give a fan a good fight. On top of that, I am excited to see them inside the ring.

This is what we call father call, when it calls, it hard to go against it. But I think GGG can still fight at 40's though, might lose some power but still he can fight. So hopefully this fight can still push through this year. Murata is not an easy opponent for him and for sure he will be tested. But I think GGG can win the fight and maybe can score a knock out if it presents itself in the fight.

I beg to disagree, Murata is not going to win against GGG. Though at 40's he still has the power and Murata is not Canelo so I only see a typical type of fight where GGG will be declared as a winner in most likely by KO win.

the betting odds tells and obvious status of this fight.

Golovkin is listed as the -700 favorite in this fight. Murata comes in as the +450 underdog.
