^^ Good to hear that somewhat there is a progress already. I think April is a good date for the fight in Japan and hopefully covid case has subsided already.

And now that GGG is back on training, it seems that he still has something to prove and wanted to win because there is a possibility that he can get to Canelo next maybe in a catchweight or even at 168 lbs.

That kind of motivation will inspire him in this win, with lots of time to do the training, he will be more than prepared once the date of fight has been settled, having another shot to fight with Canelo will bring that excitement not only for him but also for those fans who still wanting to see this trilogy to take place.

Let see if how he will take Murata and see if he still has that power to win over Canelo.

Still too early for any conclusions, he should win this one first before jumping to another possible fight.

The news was that Canelo already agreed about the deal but GGG haven't agreed yet but I'm sure these two fellas could meet somewhere in the middle to make the fight happen this year if possible. Back to the topic, April is the month but date is to be announced soon just yet but hopefully they can settle about the date soon, GGG and Murata have a month left to prepare for this unification fight.

I got to admit that I'm a fan of Canelo Alvarez, but in terms of GGG vs Canelo fight, I am yet to choose a side soon. We might already know that Canelo was scheduled and set to fight against Makabu this Cinco de Mayo but suddenly, Eddie Hearn announced that the won't happen as expected. Lately, Canelo signed a deal to face GGG soon after his fight against Murata but GGG didn't signed the contract yet as he is busy now for his upcoming unification fight this April.

We will see, there's a lot of noise right now that if ever GGG won here, he will get Canelo next. But Canelo will definitely have a dance partner this Cinco de Mayo and that the speculation that GGG will be next in the table for him in September, Mexican Independence day (which previously Dela Hoya holds that fight week). So still up for GGG to win big here against Murata and then go home and wait for Canelo.

So much information now here presenting about GGG vs. Murata and what really excites me now is the possible face off of GGG and Canelo once GGG made this fight a victorious fight for him. I am also rooting for the success of GGG over Murata and let's see how he manage to face the undefeated champion today, Canelo. I'm so excited to see them inside the ring fighting for the title belt I just do hope that this fight will be pushed through at the scheduled time.

The chance of GGG vs Canelo III is very slim, if both parties are willing to fight each other again, then the fight could have happened a long time ago. I understand that we want to see that great fight again as the last 2 fights were all controversial, at least for the fans of GGG who think he could have won at least one of the two fights.

I'm just trying to be realistic here but of course, I'd love to see that happen again.

I know that people want to watch a third edition between GGG and Canelo but it is not going to happen, GGG fights in the middleweight division which goes from 154 to 160 lbs however Canelo is moving to the cruiserweight division which goes from 175 to 200 lbs.

So as you can see the weight differential is simply too big, so either GGG moves to super middleweight or even light cruiserweight or Canelo will have to change his plans and instead of going to a heavier division move to a lighter one, something that is rare because as boxers mature they tend to move to the divisions above their weight and not to one or two divisons below their current weight.

Stop this speculation for now until we hear positive words from Canelo as it looks like he will be the one who has to approve first before they'll settle.

The possibility is still there about this trilogy with Canelo. The last statement from this article (https://www.boxingscene.com/golovkin-on-fights-with-canelo-people-who-thought-i-lost-comfortable-being-delusional--164305) says that Canelo is "nearing a two-fight deal with DAZN, the second of which would potentially involve Golovkin", so yes, there's possibility of this GGG-Canelo III. But both camps should talk about in what weight division they will be fighting. I guess, this will be retirement match for GGG in case it will push thru. He's not happy with the results of those first 2, but don't know if he has that power to overcome Canelo.

I'm trying to find an article that I can't remember where did I saw it (maybe on Facebook news feeds etc) where GGG stated that there's a thing he can do to lure Canelo for a possible trilogy. Before, I'm also one of the people that not expect there's a trilogy but who knows GGG really has a plan.

Moving forward, for now, I agree that we should not expect it to happen and all claims are just speculation. Canelo is currently living with his prime days and moving up to the next weight class is his mission. GGG, on the other hand, is almost close to retirement but who knows after he dominated and badly beaten Murata, he will again be considered by top fighters in his league.

If GGG won here, I don't think that's enough to make Canelo willing to fight him for the 3rd time.

Canelo already has a set of targets this year and the first one is in May against Dmitry Bivol in a Light Heavyweight Match.

GGG just needs to focus on his future matches. He doesn't need to make a noise about wanting a fight with Canelo. If Canelo is not interested, then so be it. Let Canelo come to him instead of him trying everything to convince Canelo.

There's already a thread open up by @Baofeng and it seems his speculation is right to the tee. Canelo will have Bivol in May and then GGG in September.

But before we can excited of a 3rd fight, GGG must be able to get a win against Murata, by all means, if he can get a knock out and looks impressive then good. If he wins by decision and looks old then I think the fight can still be made, although I think Canelo will be the favorite in the 3rd fight.

Nope, this ain't a mere dream anymore. Sorry but I have to disagree with you mate because the fight that many people and fans have been looking forward is now real and will going to happen soon somewhere in September because Canelo already agreed to fight GGG after he is done with Dimitry Bivol this coming May. Canelo vs Makabu has been cancelled, that's why Eddie Hearn have took a new deal.

Quote
Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing are close to reaching an agreement with the Mexican over a double bout deal worth around 85 million dollars.
According to ESPN, Canelo would take on Bivol first on May 7 and, should he win, as expected, he would then face Golovkin on September 17.

You nailed it mate, thanks for sharing that wonderful information. Now, everything looks possible with that announcement, all these two boxers have to do is just beat their opponent and prepare for a big trilogy fight. I guess win or loss, GGG can retire after this fight.

If he do pushes more then it do shows that desperation until into that point that he do looks not appealing into its fans on trying to force out something which couldnt be possible

GGG is nearly on his retirement since he's already 39 years old as of this moment. There are really things which boxers do really have that ego on achieving or getting something
that they do prefer which i couldnt blame him off about being wanted badly about that Trilogy against Canelo.

But there is an open book that he needs to settle with Canelo before he retires. So this is an extra motivation for GGG now to push himself and beat Murata in their fight because he is looking for a potential Canelo meet in September. So this is a great opportunity as he has axe to grind against Canelo because their two fights are very controversial that most of the fight fans wanted to see a 3rd fight.

We dont know on whats on the mind of GGG but for sure he do still love to have that third fight but if everything would let it to happen. It would depend on promoters i would say because athletes

are only following and if there's something that is been set up which they shouldnt really ignore nor reject it off.IF they do saw that there's soo much demand on this trilogy then the fight might

happen and as you said on this upcoming September?
Ive searched and able to find this. https://www.boxing247.com/boxing-news/canelo-golovkin-must-win-next-fights-to-meet-in-trilogy-in-september/212372

So far the results of the poll here
GGG   - 26 (100%)
Murata   - 0 (0%)
Draw   - 0 (0%)
Total Voters: 26

It's all Golovkin voters not giving Murata a chance, on the other poll between Canelo - Bivol fight Canelo gets all the votes and Bivol is still zero, people are hoping and expecting a trilogy between Canelo and GGG this is the biggest fight to make and promoters and both fighters should make it happen.

Saying it's a warm-up battle for GGG and Alvarez is like degrading their respective opponent. Although both boxers do have a winning chance against their opponent, we should not end up underestimating their opponent. The GGG vs Alvarez III is not even something that should be a big deal unless it's a title fight. GGG's prime days are over and Canelo is still in his prime. The intensity is not the same compared to their first 2 fights.

I even like to see Canelo facing champions at a much higher tier compared to a fight with GGG.

To tell you frankly, these are the reasons why the poll is like that:

a) they are not familiar with Murata and Bivol so they will both instead to Canelo and GGG
b) for those who are familiar, they know the capacity and dominance of Canelo and GGG
c) the one you mentioned, fans like a trilogy so these respective fights should be won by Canelo and GGG

Murata is not a threat but who knows he might pull a surprise against GGG. On the other hand, Bivol is a good match with Canelo and it's a light heavyweight where the latter is not used to fighting.

Right, we can call it like that, a warm up fight for the two before they face each other. I think this fight will happen in the US as there are a lot of boxing fans looking and waiting for this fight to become a reality, and it could be in Vegas, San Antonio or even LA where this is a lot of Mexican boxing fans because the fight is going to be scheduled on Mexican Independence day. Hopefully, there will be no derailing on the part of Murata, but who knows?

The trilogy now is just a dream, it's far from happening, maybe after these two boxers will retire we will be able to see in an exhibition fight, but as of now, they have different plans and it's not easy to go down or go up in weight, it requires time to make it happen and I don't think Canelo's plan includes GGG now.

Stop this speculation for now until we hear positive words from Canelo as it looks like he will be the one who has to approve first before they'll settle.

Source: https://www.marca.com/en/boxing/2022/02/10/6204d67f22601db15e8b45df.html

You nailed it mate, thanks for sharing that wonderful information. Now, everything looks possible with that announcement, all these two boxers have to do is just beat their opponent and prepare for a big trilogy fight. I guess win or loss, GGG can retire after this fight.

No worries, I'm glad to share an information to a boxing fan like me Cheesy

On Canelo's side, the first deal was already agreed between him and Dimitry Bivol's side and they also have reached out to GGG's camp about the 2nd bout deal but GGG and his team are currently busy now because GGG is also approaching a fight against Murata this April soon (Date TBA). Both camp's needs to win on their current opponents so that Canelo vs GGG trilogy would surely happen this September.
Yes, I think so too and I think that it's GGG's wanted fight before he decides to hang up his gloves.
