GGG admit that he had sparred Murata in the pass,

Quote
"It did take place but that was a long time ago. It was not the pure sparring approach that he came to spar me. I learned during those sessions that Murata is a very serious fighter with a high boxing IQ," Golovkin said.

https://www.boxingscene.com/golovkin-sparring-i-learned-murata-very-serious-fighter-high-boxing-iq--164844

So he knows what he is up against, a serious fighter in Murata and he would have to travelled to his home town and beat him. So this is a very dangerous fight for GGG.

Oh really, they did that in the past? That's good because even it was just a friendly spar, they could already tell each others capabilities just like how GGG felt about Murata. I only know that Murata was always looking up on GGG and something he said that it's been an honor to get a fight with GGG. Nonetheless, the number still cannot lie and we definitely know that GGG has the advantage even if he's much older now.
Without a doubt this is an interesting fact, after all the very first rounds are for the most part spent studying the rival and to see what he has brought to the fight, but if they have already spar with each other then they should have a better idea of each one of their capabilities and accelerate this process substantially.

However at least to me this is more advantageous for Murata, as most likely this happened when GGG was already at his prime while Murata was just starting his career, so Murata probably got the most information out of that sparring session.

^^ But GGG should win against Murata to keep the hype alive on the possibility of a trilogy. If he lost this fight then perhaps fans will likely say that this is going to be a mismatch in favor of Canelo because GGG is old as Murata beat him. So it's better for both of them to win against their opponent, setup one of the biggest fight this year in September.

Definitely, if GGG will lose against Murata then I think there's no need to get excited because the match is not that really interesting to see anymore because we know that Canelo is still in his prime and that will surely mean that he will be declared as the winner in the people's eye even before the fight happened then certainly the hype will end.

If he lost this fight then perhaps fans will likely say that this is going to be a mismatch in favor of Canelo because GGG is old as Murata beat him. So it's better for both of them to win against their opponent, setup one of the biggest fight this year in September.

That's what the fans wanted to see, just before he finally conclude his career in boxing, he just need to fight Canelo and get down in the boxing industry with pride no matter what the result might be. If he somehow wins that fight, then that would be an excellent way to wrap up his career and he would not be forgotten in the world of boxing. He just needs to finish Murata as easily as possible so that they will gonna have a high chance to fight again.

Right, for me GGG has cemented his legacy already at 160 lbs. Although there is just one blemishes and that is Canelo. The first 2 fight was really very close that it can go either way.

But if they will set up a 3rd fight and if ever GGG will win that fight then maybe their could be arguments for him to be the best middleweight of this era. So let him do his job against Murata first and not snubbed him before he can seek Alvarez.

There's just one way to find out about it and definitely the trilogy will give a clear answer on which of them really deserved the win, and the rumors and critics will shut up for good after then. Yes, I agree with you. We should let GGG process and focus in his fight against Murata first before giving some speculation with him and Canelo.

Not unless a huge amount of money that will pressure Canelos camp to proceed and deal in fighting GGG, a possible exhibition
fight, though, it's also very popular nowadays.

If that will take place, there are still fans that will buy that ticket and PPV, no doubt that fans still wanted to see these two fighters
inside the ring, fighting.

True, that's why the trilogy is still based on their fights, if anyone one of them loses, specially GGG, then the trilogy will not be interesting to see for some casual fans. Maybe those who wanted to see are the hard core fans of the two.

So GGG will really have to showcase his talent first against Murata, as if sending a message to Canelo that he is still ready to fight him.

This is a must win for GGG and I have a confidence that he'll win this one, and that the trilogy with Canelo must be done.
That 2nd fight was a bit unconvincing especially when the fight were so close and 1 judge has a wide score card gap.
I don't know but I would love to see a 3rd and convincing fight.
And one thing is for sure, most of us doesn't want it to end in an exhibition match.
Exhibition matches are a joke, it's purely for the money.

No way either one of them will want a trilogy that will be in a exhibition match. They have a lot of things to settled inside the ring and Canelo even says that a 3rd fight will be personal for him.

And I do agree that the 3rd fight should be convincing, at least in our eyes there should be no robbery whatsoever. There should be a clear winner or better yet if the winner can get a KO, that will be good so that there will be no questions or suspicious, the judges will not decide who is going to win.

The money is there for Canelo to fight GGG no matter what, but as what I have said previously, boxing is business and they want to hype every fight, specially with this kind of magnitude, a mega-fight between this two although this is already their 3rd fight but the outcome is still not decisively as to who really won the first 2 match because it was narrowing and very close to the eyes of the boxing fans. So there is still a debate up to know and the best thing to settle it is to have this trilogy.

But we want GGG to win and put pressure on Canelo and his camp.

IMO, this fight should have happened long ago like a few months after their second fight to know which is which is really the winner between them because the situation now is much more different because GGG is much older while Canelo is still dominating the industry and still on his prime. I'm not saying that GGG can't handle Canelo anymore, it is just that they are in different beats nowadays.

I don't think that is the case for their upcoming fight because Canelo has already signed a contract that saying that he should give GGG a trilogy and that will follow after this fight in the same year, actually they're already eyeing for the month of September. But the problem is, GGG haven't sign the contract yet for the much awaited GGG for some reasons like he have no time for now as he still busy preparing for his upcoming fight with Murata.

So, GGG here holds the fate for the trilogy if it will happen or not and if he lose against Murata then I think there's no point signing the contract either.

Exactly, GGG needs to win this fight first to make the hype continue and that he is still capable to dance with Canelo.

If GGG loses his fight against Murata, for sure even promoters will not be eyeing for the possible fight against Canelo.

But at that time, Canelo doesn't want any trilogy with GGG because for him it's a close book at he won the second fight. But GGG didn't give up, move to DAZN, same with Canelo and hoping that one day DAZN will give him another opportunity to fight Canelo. Although it's so much different now as GGG is 40 now and Canelo is a different beast. Still the fight can still excite boxing fans and may what to see that 3rd fight.

^^ But GGG should win against Murata to keep the hype alive on the possibility of a trilogy. If he lost this fight then perhaps fans will likely say that this is going to be a mismatch in favor of Canelo because GGG is old as Murata beat him. So it's better for both of them to win against their opponent, setup one of the biggest fight this year in September.

yep, this makes a lot of sense because indeed if he loses Canelo will indirectly be lifted and GGG no longer has a gap because of defeat and of course the stigma about being too old will definitely loom in this case.
he has to keep hope now and indeed one of the steps that must be taken is to win this fight and this he really has to do if he doesn't want the stigma with the perceived incompatibility against Canelo to increase.

Yes at that time, Canelo has been vocal that he have won those two fights even if the second match was a draw and that a trilogy is not in his interest anymore so even if GGG kept on calling, he's not giving him that trilogy until this opportunity comes that he have to come and fight Bivol at his division and luckily this time, GGG's call has been answered.

The fight now is much different and we could really tell that there's already a difference between these two boxers, so we will see if who will win this time. Either way, I think this is GGG's last fight.

He would need to do that if he is really serious about on having trilogy or having some appealing for readying up for Trilogy against Canelo but i dont really have any doubts
that he could beat up Murata without any problems but somehow he shouldnt really be still that confident yet  hes not young or in his prime anymore but basing up
on experiene then it is really a huge gap which you could really say that it is really that impossible on beating him up but lets see on how this fight would go or ending up.

Canelo has a difficult task to finish as he will face an undefeated champion in a weight class that he will fight for the first time. The difference is, Canelo is still on prime difference to the status of GGG that's why Murata is just a fair opponent to him.

It will be a good Birthday treat for GGG if he will win the fight. Aside from the win, a ticket for a trilogy with Canelo.

But from what I think, regardless if Canelo will win or not, the trilogy with GGG will happen. But if GGG will lose, the trilogy won't happen due to the fact that he won't stand a chance at Canelo if he can't win over Murata.

I guess everyone already knows that the trilogy will be only interesting if Canelo and Triple G will defeat their won separate opponents to boost the hype and gain much views that they expect about the trilogy. Anyways, too much about the trilogy speculation. Let's get back at GGG vs Murata because this thread is first created for them without the knowledge of trilogy could be this possible.

For me, I stand with Triple G in this fight. We cannot neglect the mans IQ and experience in this industry even at his age, he will turn 40 next month while Murata is 4 years younger to him.

That ticket is more than important for him right now, maybe he is thinking of the Canelo trilogy already, but he knows that he needs to finish Murata first in his home town.

Yes, same here, even if anyone of them didn't win, the trilogy could have been sealed already because Canelo has confirmed it already. But it will be imperative if GGG will beat Murata, no more questions about him being prepared for the 3rd fight and no questions on him getting old and no longer at his prime.

Exactly, GGG's ticket for the much awaited trilogy is Ryota Murata and I know GGG will gather all the strength he needs just to finish Murata next month so a trilogy will happen as he is been wishing it for years. He also needs to prove that he still can dance very well so that his critics that's saying that he is old already and doubted him will be silenced for good. All that is left to do is beat their present foes.

We would definitely notice if he would tend to finish the match quickly or would really cherish out his time inside the ring but it would be good if he would dance a little bit further on showcasing that he's
still capable on fighting and be showing that age would not be a big factor for his overall fighting performance.I dont have any doubts for GGG to win off this fight because in experience alone
then it is already a huge gap against Murata but of course he should not really be that too confident because one lucky punch could really turn up things upside down.
