Those are normal Mullvad prices if you pay with crypto.
Yep, there is a 10% discount if you pay with bitcoin or monero. Guys, what's the best VPN for streaming and/or gaming? From my experience, NordVPN was the best, it offered the highest speed and lowest ping.
Mullvad. Works like a charm for me, and it doesn't have that annoying thing that in order to get a good price you have to pay yearly sub, like with many other VPNs.

In any case you are not aware: Yesterday, on the 4th of January, we have identified a data dump on one of the breach forum websites, containing allegations made by a threat actor claiming to have accessed a "NordVPN Salesforce development server." We immediately started to verify these claims and now want to address them directly to clarify what happened.
Our security team has completed an initial forensic analysis of the alleged data dump. While we are continuing our investigation to ensure absolute certainty, we can confirm that, at this stage, there are no signs that NordVPN servers or internal production infrastructure have been compromised. https://nordvpn.com/blog/addressing-alleged-salesforce-breach/

Another good thing about Mullvad is their DNS servers that can be used on phones for hiding ads, malware or adult content, that is very good for kids phones: https://mullvad.net/en/help/dns-over-https-and-dns-over-tlsThat is the problem with all centralized VPN providers, leaks, hacks and breaches can always happen, but I never trusted NordVPN. To minimize risks it's better to pay with privacy coins, don't use any personal details or email for registration, and maybe consider decentralized VPN services.

I find it very strange that probably more than 90% of VPN providers offer us terrible monthly prices but good discounts on annual subscriptions. I understand that business prefers to get the most of the money immediately instead of months later because one of the main reason is inflation and secondly, they can use the big budget to invest more into marketing and product development but the difference between monthly and annual plans is insane. Their monthly prices are so terrible that they basically tell us to not buy a VPN if we want it for month(s), only buy it if we want it for years. On the other hand, Mullvad and Windscribe work perfectly fine with their cheap monthly prices, so I assume that this price model should also be profitable. Why is there a lack of companies that offer normal monthly prices (slightly higher than Mullvad, Windscribe and IVPN) but discount on annual plans.

I hate those cheap marketing tricks where you see 1 month sub for like $12, and then if you pay 24 months it suddenly drops to $3 per month. Like what the fuck. On the other hand, Mullvad and Windscribe work perfectly fine with their cheap monthly prices, so I assume that this price model should also be profitable.
Of course it is, as long as you are offering quality services so people keep paying.

Of course it is, as long as you are offering quality services so people keep paying. Annoying, yes. But definitely not strange. It's a very common tatic to make you commit long term to their service. If they just charge $3 per month, many people will cancel after 2 or 3 months. If you offer a good price with a 1 year commitment, they get you into the service for that long = profit. Obviously they still profit at $3/monthly, VPN costs are extremely low (you can "make" your own VPN with a $1/month VPS). That doesn't mean they won't do what they can to increase profit.

You have a point, but most VPN providers have a 30-day window for unsatisfied customers who have purchased long-term plans, so the same thing can happen here as well. - Out of curiosity, are there any users here who have used a certain VPN for close to a month and were able to get a full refund from a low-quality VPN provider?

This is mostly a marketing trick, here many supermarkets do the same: they offer a money back guarantee in case you're not satisfied for any reason. It's easy to post the sign, it looks good, and best of all: barely anyone uses it. So I expect the same for VPN users: once they sign up, most people won't cancel it even if they barely use it.

I think Mullvad deserves some awareness for their "And Then?" campaign that was censored from British TV and billboards. See mullvad.net/en/and-then/uk.

They do and despite being a big fan of them, I have to agree with Clearcast on this one... I'm not sure what they were thinking when they opted to include " paedophiles, rapists, murderers" in the ad script [I understand why this might give the wrong idea to some and I would've rejected the same ad/commercial as well].

You left out the crucial word "monitor" in front of them. Governments use the exact same arguments to increase surveillance. Mullvad just points out the slippery slope governments are entering when they start censorship.

Sorry, I should've included that word [my bad] and I do agree with the fact that governments tend to use every single excuse they can make to increase surveillance, but I think Mullvad could've conveyed their message even without those controversial words. - FWIW, I wouldn't be surprised if they deliberately did it to get more publicity out of it.

I wouldn't call words controversial - FWIW, I wouldn't be surprised if they deliberately did it to get more publicity out of it. Maybe. It's usually the best way to make a point: point out censorship and get censored.

It's crazy they started banning ads on TV in UK, and I think they are going to start asking for verification to use VPN in near future, for ''child protection'' They are probably going to start with adult website and than expand to social networks and everything else... they are not even hiding it anymore.

I swear to God, governments become more and more stupid with each passing year. As they say: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions". A common meaning of the phrase is that wrongdoings or evil actions are often undertaken with good intentions; or that good intentions, when acted upon, may have bad consequences.
