Should you sell ethereum and btc to buy Solana/SOL?

Why selling any if you can have them all (even in small quantity) btc is a coin you should not miss as part of your portfolio, no matter how little, I would say have them all, but if it is not possible as a result of limited cash, yeah sol is a good choice, short to long term hold, the blockchain is aggressively growing without any doubt, more room to grow.

Sometimes the capital that people are using to invest in the market is so low that they have no option but to concentrate on a single project, so SOL seems like a good coin in which you can invest right now, however since the coin is already positioned as the fifth biggest coin in terms of market cap then it is important to limit the expectations you may have about its growth, since now it is going to be a challenge for the coin to grow as much as it did in the past since now it has to compete against some of the most well-known and strongest coins in the market.

Indeed ETH and BTC have some drawbacks, but it must be admitted that until now ETH and BTC have always been in the top position. So my advice is
to use the extra money we have to buy Solana, don't do anything reckless by selling the ETH and BTC we have. This is why it is important that
we have good knowledge of the crypto world, so that we can make the right decisions.

When it was released SOL started to sell off. And it’s very strange that it was rallying for the last few days from $150 all the way to $183 and then topped at the news. Basically classic buy the rumor and sell the news only for certain insiders.

This year, Solana has really grown rapidly and has become the attention of crypto enthusiasts. I think coins that have their own smart contracts have potential. but when compared to coin that have their own smart contract system i would prefer BNB over ETH or SOL, the price comparison is not too far right know. and and I think BNB has much more potential for long term hold.

It's true we can't deny that Solana's development is amazing and for me it's beyond expectation,
actually I also don't know for sure which of the three coins has more potential,
the three coins between ETH, BNB, and SOL have strong fundamentals so they are good for long-term investments

Why exchange BTC and ETH to a new coin? When you can just buy Sol if you have extra money instead of selling your Bitcoin or ETH. Solana is just a new coin that is possibly a hype coins due to the trend but sooner or later it might be the same as the rest of altcoins that I know. Most of them aren't able to get back while some didn't last that long but if the project has a good development it might last in this market. A better research will needed if you want to truly invest in this new altcoins.

SOL is still largely unproven technology so you are going to likely see a lot of bugs in the early stages, and there is no guarantee that they will ever emerge from this current buggy state.

You should definitely diversify your holdings, but all-in in SOL is not a great idea.

I don't think it's stupid to choose SOL.  although sol is not perfect, but I see SOL still has great potential to develop to the best position.  I think it's wrong to put btc into the sole, but it will definitely give rise to the results for the owners

I may invest in this project but I'm not going to consider it as for long-term investment as I still depend on how it performed.

And to ask say selling BTC for Solana, that is a bad idea. I don't think it is a need, why not spare money for additional investment? I certainly don't do that and besides, BTC is for long-term and sure investment which can never be replaced by any coins in the market a big thing that we need not forget.

that's what i was thinking about this scenario. as we still need to see what's in it for SOL, better keep some of your coins to BTC and ETH, which both has proven their solid position in the market. sol is relatively new in this playing field though a promising one. but we need tangible proofs that they can deliver like projects being built under their chain or visible dev team giving regular updates to their community. this is yet to be seen coz for me, it is too early to see those developments.

If you have bitcoin, then keep holding it. Don't sell your bitcoin for any other altcoin. Bitcoin will give you good profit in the long run. If you can afford to invest in Solana, then use your money to invest in SOL, not by exchanging bitcoin. I would say the same for Ethereum. Hold your Ethereum. Don't spend any of it. Eth2.0 and sharding is very promising. When those upgrades rollout, the fee should significantly go down to a reasonable level. People would be hoarding ETH before the eth2.0 launches. That would cause the price to go up (make sure you do your own research).

No i will not and will never be, yeah i believe in Solana's capacity and future but i am more on assurance in which Bitcoin and Ethereum can give me.

If I have many ethereum and btc, maybe I will sell some ethereum to buy solana but that depends on how deep the solana price because if the price is not down too deep, I will not buy solana and will not sell ethereum or btc.
Solana can be good for long-term investment but I still prefer bitcoin and ethereum but bitcoin will be my long-term investment besides altcoin so if I want to buy solana, I will wait for a while and check how will be the trend.
If you want to gamble by selling your ethereum and buying solana, you can do that but you need to have a good reason why you do that because solana and ethereum will depend on how good bitcoin price is moves.

Solana is worthy to invest in for long but no need to sell either of your BTC or Ethereum unless there's no other way to buy Solana but to sell some of your hold assets. Others are also doing that way in anticipation that investing in Solana right now will give them a nice profit in the future.

In the end, it's really up to you if you decide to sell some of your BTCs or ETHs. You can also consider not to sell them all and just a fraction of it if you are hesitant to do so. It's still good that your investment is diversified that putting all of it in a single basket.

I also have the same sentiment, I rather allocate extra fund for buying SOL instead of selling the top assets that I already have.

Bitcoin and ETH are proven long-term investment, and if I will use SOL as also for long term I will add up to
my wallet and allocate additional money to fund for SOL.

We all do have our own opinion about our investment but in considering SOL, I will agree that it's one of
those profitable assets around this market.

I may consider selling some of my ETH and BTC to buy solana , but not in season like this in which all the coins are going down.
because I am sure that BITCOIN AND ETHEREUM  will climb first even before solana make its way up.

I would not ever do that. Do you know the difference between centralization and decentralization? Bitcoin is 100%  decentralized crypto currency and ethereum is also vey much decentralized. Solana on the other hand is not purely decentralized and that's why you find the speed of SOL transactions much faster as compared to the bitcoin/Ethereum.
I would suggest you to keep all three of them in your portfolio.

If you hodl, nothing is sure in crypto and you could make a mistake . If you trade/swap your coins, you can make not one but two mistakes. IMO, If you like SOL buy it with fiat so it is still a fiat vs crypto bet, because to me, the more derivatives you add, the more difficult to win: you still bet vs fiat (crypto is always a bet vs fiat) + vs BTC&ETH or whatever the coin you decide to liquidate.

And don't forget that, in many jurisdictions, every time you make a transaction between coins you are creating a taxable event that could lead to an unwanted surprise.
