School Students learning bitcoin basics in Slovakia..

Most of us here are aware about the term Bitcoin but how many have told their children about the same? I have came across some threads in which members have hinted that they are setting up wallets for their kids and even kids mining some coins for huge profits at an early age.But they all have learned it through some source and it's good to teach the children about bitcoin even not too technically but some kind of methods like book reading which could benefit them more in future.

I was just wandering across the twitter when i saw @realbitcoinmagzine post in which they have shared an image of children learning about the basic of Bitcoin in one of the School in Slovakia and just shared it in WO thread also and here is the reference from the same:

See we don't need to over burden the students and children at an early age by making them learn or forcing them to study about the technical aspects of Bitcoin but this time is best when you can grab more out of your mind and if you are aware about bitcoin at this age you could save yourself from future problems and reading about them is best.This school deserve my respect.

Slovakia is country in Central Europe and have an estimated population of 5.4 million only and it's the best tourist place for castle lovers and what is Slovakia is best known for as it has more than 180+ castles and 425 chateaux.If this small country can take this big step why can't we? We also need to educate our children and make them familiar with bitcoin but in an interesting way as many like technology these days if all not and to educate them so they know about true financial freedom.This is the change what we all were wanting and btc has come a long way to this.Happy to see this school making bolf move.

I have to say this is pretty cool.  School in my opinion has been long over due for an overhaul with its curriculum. When I went to grade school I can’t remember ever having learned about some sort of financial product. Funny thing is I actually have a copy of this book they are reading.

I'd definitely buy that, the fact that the book has a friendly approach to grade schoolers and having an actual plot makes it pretty much effective, I agree that kids must learn Bitcoin, and this is quite an efficient way to help them familiarize Bitcoin easily and how it functions the same as fiat but different in an entire aspect.

Wow, it's looking good and pretty cool to see the children are reading and knowing about bitcoin from an early age. Yes, it's a good move and can be considered as building a better nation with good motive, because there they will also learn about its bad impact and they can aware from it later. When I went to grade school I can’t remember ever having learned about some sort of financial product.

Welp, even up to my high school, financial related subjects particular was not part of the curriculum on my school IIRC, all just generics thoughts.

It's just great that this was already thought to these kids.

How was it? Is it child friendly? I wonder what kind of words the author used to describe bitcoin or cryptocurrency as general.

My personal opinion is that it is unnecessary to expose children to such information, because it is simply too early for them to be burdened with it. It is quite one thing to read a book, and quite another to understand what it is all about - and it is even worse if the person who needs to clarify these things is not an expert at it. I don't know how the book is conceived and how the teachers are trained, but from the fact that someone lives in ignorance, the worse thing can only be that they learned something completely wrong.

Children should first be taught online literacy, and how to recognize scam, and only then introduce them to Bitcoin - otherwise there will be a lot of sad stories on the Internet, maybe even some on this forum in the future.

I guess this is good as a basic introduction to Bitcoin, I would hope that they
are also being schooled in computer literacy and coding in particular along with
the dangers associated with the web.

I guess these kids are 7, 8 or 9 years old? I would hope they learn more and more
as they progress to higher classes.

Overall its a good idea if executed correctly and balanced with other relevant material.

Wow! I'm so amazed and surprised that they really came up with this idea and how they really took a bold move to include bitcoin to be taught in school. Well done, Slovakia! There's absolutely nothing wrong with teaching young students about bitcoin at schools especially at the early age because as early as they read it, their memory will eventually be familiar about bitcoin and maybe they want to learn more and starts to do some research when they reach middle school.
Who would've have thought that learning bitcoin is fun, and they even made a kids book. It's not a burden to pass knowledge about bitcoin, instead it's an honor to share about it.

The author may have chosen to use the word bitcoin to sell the book. A book cannot be judged by it's cover. I saw this thread on twitter too. But, could find nothing but hypes of bitcoin and the country that took such a step. It could be a business study book, c'mon how will kids go about bitcoin, what exactly is in the book for them to understand.

I ask myself, where exactly is the book centered so as to cement it's contents on the brain of these kids, could it be blockchain technology, trading, mining, development etc, every niche attached to bitcoin is complex for kids to understand.

What if the school concealed her intention just to trend on the internet at large.

Oh man this is simply put forth as astounding way to boost youth awareness regarding the bitcoin and more or less crypto space itself. It’s worth noting that they are too young and it’s good because this is the age when they grasp most of the things deep rooted in the brains. This also makes them think with different angles and theories as they grow bigger. This is definitely life changing for those kids who are holding and gaining the knowledge from that book.

The basics is where everything starts really. Many of them surely will become next satoshi might reinvent the blockchain in whole new ways and might make it brighter for the globe. I’m just simply liking this idea a lot.

There are classes that work just like book clubs, they pick a book and everyone either has to do a study on them by next week or it's analyzed during schools hours, it depends on what is based foreign literature or history or even arts.
I assume by the age of the kids that this was done during the technical classes that are still mandatory in some primary schools, as there is no mandatory economics study before high school yet. Highly probably that it was a private school, those have a more flexible approach and can tech a few things outside the normal curriculum

Don't worry, it's a 20 pages illustrated book that is about the basics, nothing complicated.
The only problem with it might be that it kind of implies that everything other than bitcoin and decentralization is bad...apart from gold.

It's not just Slovakia but in Ukraine as well, generally parents are enrolling their kids in courses in where they learn about bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies and they also learn how to use cryptocurrencies, transactions, how the whole ecosystem is working as well, plus kids as young as 4-5 are enrolling in such courses, I was pretty shocked to see that happening. In India generally people are required to pass some courses on cryptocurrencies and bitcoins in their university if they are doing engineering degrees as well which I do think is really good from a professional standpoint..
Cryptocurrencies are here to stay and everyone knows that therefore I do feel like these things are going to grow and more and more people are going to get involved with them.. Amazing to see the progress of cryptocurrencies in professional sector.

Trying out to search in regards to this one too but i cant find out any proofs that would really justify or prove out that book is really containing about bitcoin information or  something like that so lets just take this some sort presumed bitcoin  basic learning from that country.Well, if this one turns out to be true then any news about adoption will always be a good news and hope that other countries
would make out the same recognition as well.

I just finished listening to its audiobook version and judging by how short it was ^{[less than 16 minutes]}, I strongly believe it's the one I've bolded.

The book brings the story of some kids who needed a tool to trade with each other. At some point they are suggested to use bitcoin as currency. That is what the book cover says:



It's a fictional story to introduce kids to the existence of bitcoin, but I suppose it's not necessarily aimed to teach any technical or any other complex aspects of bitcoin. Some customers complained about this fact in the reviews. However they should keep in mind it's a book for young children...

Everyone knew it, education is the key to any form of transformation. When these kids learn about it, surely they'll try to use it for some needs. Things have been completely getting shifted digitally, by now such a learning will help for a big change. The initiative is really appreciable, and this needs to teach them well about the bitcoin usage on good and not for the bad. Only then it gets used for a healthy reason than on illegal things.

These days we've got more courses associated with blockchain in colleges and universities, but a direct learning about bitcoin in the school is really interesting and a must needed one.

This one is a surprise, it's a gymnasium called T. Akvinského, not really the religious school the name would imply but still a surprise. And yeah, it's a one-time event, probably more to promote the book, as I was saying some schools have a little more freedom in what to study so they could simply have this as a one-hour read.
That photo tells the whole story, obviously a staged event, probably by the book publisher.

Anything that can entice kids into learning about money in early education is going to be a good thing, far too often it is ignored in early education when it is most useful - any long term investor will know that compounding over many years is a very powerful force. Hopefully it breaks down the technology powering Bitcoin but also educates on how other elements of finance, otherwise it might just look a bit gimmicky and discourage the actual teaching staff. It'd be interesting to see it called cryptocurrency rather than focusing on Bitcoin, as although it is the first there are many other currencies out there worth exploring and we don't want to limit them.

I agree that bitcoin should first be taught in schools but teaching it in grade school level it should be something in an interesting and most enticing way so that students may not feel bored learning about it. We all know that bitcoin is quite broad and complicated thing that's why its taught in higher levels like colleges and universities. But Slovakia has made this taught at a very young age, this is quite cool but very challenging on part of the teacher on how she will inculcate it on the young minds.
