EDIT: It's true! Atlas is no longer with us.
Is Atlas MIA or pulling a BitcoinPorn stunt? Inquiring minds want need to know. My hope is that all is well and he hadn't turned into a Rip Van Winkle due to the lack of sleep.

Perhaps, he's conducting another experiment, seeing how long we would go without noticing him missing. Well, two can play that game. We just won't start any threads about wondering where he's at. We'll simply pretend we don't even know he's missing, thereby forcing his hand to speak first. And we all know how much Atlas hates speaking, therefore we win the game because... Hmmm! I don't have a because, but I'm pretty sure we win, nevertheless. Wouldn't we?

He's MIA, busy on stuff as usual. Also, ATLAS is closed on weekends Oh, Boy! I'm not so sure, now, after reading the following, which begs the question: Where the hell's Matthew? You speak of evolution. Yes, morality is just preferences... You seek fairness, I seek the ultimate sentient being this planet has yet to see. I want the power to be exclusively in the hands of the individual. I dream of each man being a god. That is all I wish to achieve. Morality is irrelevant when every man can stand on his own two feet without being phased by those who try to be above him. Anyways, morality is just preferences. I only treat them as such. If you truly want to win, get an army -- or become one. I treat every individual as a god for that's who I want them to be. Atlas, you could killed so easily. You're a loud mouthed high school kid that posts his personal information on the internet. Does that mean that the killer is more 'fit' than you, or that you're not 'fit' enough to live? You want to live in peace, you need to sacrifice. You don't want peace. Why don't you just get it over with an assassinate someone like you're going to do in a few years anyway.

Atlas's Mom: I'm concern. Atlas's Dad: Of what? Atlas's Mom: Our Harvey. Atlas's Dad: Why? Atlas's Mom: I just checked his computer, and he hasn't been online for a couple days now. Atlas's Dad: You what? I also just checked his computer. Now we're both fucked! He'll probably kick us out of the house. Where will we live? Atlas's Mom: Well! There's this OWS in town. Atlas's Dad: Good thinking! Get the dog. Atlas's Mon: I love you! Atlas's Dad: Quit that! Not in front of the dog. Atlas: Hi, Mom. Hey, Dad. Atlas's Mom: Howdy, son. We're taking a trip and we'll be gone a few days. Make sure to get proper rest while we're gone. Atlas's Dad: And nobody's been in your room while you were away, just like the sign on your door warns. Atlas's Mom: (Whispering) Let's get the hell out of here before he finds out. Grab the dog! The Dog: Someway, somehow, I'm goin' to create value on this trip.

You're the very essence of every authoritarian teacher I've experienced through high school. Let's just say by the end of the year, I still didn't turn in my homework, I continued to sleep through class and I still loved the teacher and continued to ask her about her day. It's never been about "help". Actually, I don't think you want to grasp my reasons.

Heh, the teacher never taught; she just handed out worksheets. In addition, my English is usually fine. It's just much of its style and meaning comes from works before this time: that's where I was mostly taught. It either sets people off or intimidates them and thus they feel the need to question it. Regardless, it's not the most tactful method of writing but it does the job.

I honestly was open to my English being poor. I researched it, double-checked what the words meant and most of the time I was fine. Once again, it happens that I said everything that I had intended and people still put themselves in a position of either the authority on English or constant confusion. It's interesting to watch. I have long since given up on trying to gain acceptance, if I had ever really attempted to do so in the first place. In the end, people either choose not to or cannot understand me for whatever reason. I am sure it will all make sense in good time. Again, it truly does come down to tact: My writing does not conform to the understanding of most people it seems. The reasons remain undefinable -- at least to me.

Immanuel, language is an artform. It can be simplified and still understood to some degree but carrying a complex message in a short amount of words is a talent, if not a gift. Some of us, myself included, are verbose to a point that writing seems inefficient. Much like a self-fulfilling prophecy, my lack of interest in writing stemming from its inefficiency prevents further writing practice that might otherwise deem corrective of the original issue. Reading is great, but no matter your reading comprehension (which appears to be what most educated 17 year olds should be) your writing skills do not match your speaking skills. When I've talked to you on the phone I never had a problem with understanding you, as you typically spoke concisely, to the point, and didn't seem too preachy. I can only assume this is because you think significantly more while writing than while speaking. Thanks to my INSERT REASON HERE I type more or less the same way I talk. I have long since given up on trying to gain acceptance, if I had ever really attempted to do so in the first place.
As anyone can see from this sentence, you first claim you are seeking acceptance in an absolute fashion, then claim you might not have been. Contradictory statements are abound in your writing. I don't think anyone is arguing that you don't understand the definitions of certain words, or even that you can't speak English. I think we can safely assume here that the real issue is the same issue of all narcissistic 17 year olds-- trying to sound important by constructing sentences the way they see them in books, but failing at it for the simple reason that they haven't had enough practice at it yet. Eventually you'll be great at it, but humility (or in the very least, acceptance) is necessary to grow into the type of writer that can grip their audience with prose with the same ease as most display in general chit-chat. You're not there yet, but trust me on this one-- we're all hoping you'll get there. Case in point, changing your username doesn't help you get there any faster. It just turns off people who may have wanted to help you get there in the first place. I know you don't think you 'need' anyone, and you don't. You could master the English language all on your own (excluding the thousands of authors you'd need to read from), but it's so much easier when you have an environment where people can constructively criticize each other, accept the criticisms, start working to fix them, then display this growth as proof of not just their intellect, but of their history of growth as well. The way you conduct conversations on this forum in combination with your constant username changes robs you of any of the benefits of education and experience-- unless of course your ultimate goal in language learning is to be able to communicate with yourself.

Hey, Harv. I'm buying you lunch and/or dinner during the convention in San Antonio this coming March. All you have to do is accept my offer. I, for one, look forward to hanging out with you. trying to sound important by constructing sentences the way they see them in books, but failing at it for the simple reason that they haven't had enough practice at it yet. I can almost relate to this in regards to one of my two writing styles. When I'm posting serious shit, I try to be as grammatically correct as possible, whereas my fun comments are of the whimsical nature. Then again, there's possibly a third, consisting of a subtle approach I've been know to use so well.

WOW!!! I'm speechless. I had not idea all this was taking place. I was to busy with Bitcoin100 along with RL happenings. I wonder if this means he's not buying me lunch at the San Antonio convention. I remembered when I was banned for 3 days for posting off topic. I was pissed, whereupon this 51 year old guy turned into a kid and thought I was smart by starting a new user account (remember N the B?). I guess I was lucky in only having it extended to 7 days. During that 7 day period, I joined SA so that I can absorb more Bitcoin related material. During that interim, I envisioned Bitcoin100 as a solution to the wiki thread at the time, but had to wait till I was allowed back in to jump start it. After a few days of being back in and playing catch up, I announced the idea. Since then, I've been on my paper, almost fully knowing, and playing by, the rules. To this day, I firmly believe that somehow theymos tricked me into all this. ~Bruno~

He definitely is, he seems to have a pathological need for attention. As long as he isn't posting crazy atlas stuff he might be able to evade a ban, but that would mean not being himself/not posting about anything he really cares about, so he'll get bored eventually and either leave or revert to the crazy stuff and get banned again. So either way it's still a win.

We did have a full 3 weeks to record but my mom thought it was cool to die of cancer 2 weeks ago and I just got back from the US. It's kind of hard to do 'funny' in a hurry (a week left) and even harder given the circumstances. Hope it comes out alright despite it.

My dad pasted a year and half ago. After the normal brief grieving period, everything will OK. I joke with my sister daily with this line, "Dad said,". Just those two words, then we laugh. You'll always remember what 'Mom Said'. ~Bruno~ PS: We'll always remember Atlas singing your Christmas parody song.

I'm sorry to hear that Matthew. I appreciate that. On another note, I had never had a close family member die before, much less of cancer, and I guess I had the idea that it would be like a movie-- either painless and instant, or Godfather "last words" style. I had no idea that cancer basically makes you go senile right before you die, causing you to freak out for a day saying things you've never said, then go open-eye comatose for another day, finally becoming unresponsive until your breathing stops. My right brain and left brain were both soaking the thing in. Really weird experience. Everyone I talked to after the fact pretty much said that's how their relative/friend went as well. Makes me horrified of cancer even more so. We weren't that close or anything so I guess I am handling it much better than my oldest sister who keeps shouting it's 'her fault' and something about being 'too late', but one thing is for sure-- I wouldn't even want my enemies to have to live with the pain and suffering she was going through. I am happy she passed quickly and in her sleep (even if her sleep was drug induced).

I am happy she passed quickly and in her sleep (even if her sleep was drug induced). The last family member I had die of cancer was my grandmother when I was about 6. She was dying of lung cancer. The one bit of solace I get from not being able to be with her during her last days was that she, in vain, repeatedly requested I be let in to see her. I was really close to her as a child, but now I can hardly remember her. I feel your pain and hope you get though this as quickly as possible.

Your experience isn't unique to cancer. Unfortunately the phrase "keeping someone comfortable" doesn't mean what people would like to think it means. Having seen the pain and distress which so often accompanies death in this day and age, I've made damned sure that my medical wishes are very well known.
