It was definitely way past due for a new username. I think it's important that we continue to post about his new names so that everyone knows that changing your name will not help you. You're the very essence of every authoritarian teacher I've experienced through high school. Let's just say by the end of the year, I still didn't turn in my homework, I continued to sleep through class and I still loved the teacher and continued to ask her about her day. It's never been about "help". Actually, I don't think you want to grasp my reasons.

I am talking about people who argue or present points and then come back on different usernames when no one wants to listen to them anymore. Anything else in your post is just you sharing something no one asked.

In before "I reject your definitions and make my own".

Heh, the teacher never taught; she just handed out worksheets. In addition, my English is usually fine. It's just much of its style and meaning comes from works before this time: that's where I was mostly taught. It either sets people off or intimidates them and thus they feel the need to question it. Regardless, it's not the most tactful method of writing but it does the job.

It has nothing to do with tact, but I suspect you don't really know what that word means or how it's supposed to be used. As usual.

I honestly was open to my English being poor. I researched it, double-checked what the words meant and most of the time I was fine. Once again, it happens that I said everything that I had intended and people still put themselves in a position of either the authority on English or constant confusion. It's interesting to watch. I have long since given up on trying to gain acceptance, if I had ever really attempted to do so in the first place. In the end, people either choose not to or cannot understand me for whatever reason. I am sure it will all make sense in good time. Again, it truly does come down to tact: My writing does not conform to the understanding of most people it seems. The reasons remain undefinable -- at least to me.

Immanuel, language is an artform. It can be simplified and still understood to some degree but carrying a complex message in a short amount of words is a talent, if not a gift. Some of us, myself included, are verbose to a point that writing seems inefficient. Much like a self-fulfilling prophecy, my lack of interest in writing stemming from its inefficiency prevents further writing practice that might otherwise deem corrective of the original issue. Reading is great, but no matter your reading comprehension (which appears to be what most educated 17 year olds should be) your writing skills do not match your speaking skills. When I've talked to you on the phone I never had a problem with understanding you, as you typically spoke concisely, to the point, and didn't seem too preachy. I can only assume this is because you think significantly more while writing than while speaking. Thanks to my INSERT REASON HERE I type more or less the same way I talk. I have long since given up on trying to gain acceptance, if I had ever really attempted to do so in the first place.
As anyone can see from this sentence, you first claim you are seeking acceptance in an absolute fashion, then claim you might not have been. Contradictory statements are abound in your writing. I don't think anyone is arguing that you don't understand the definitions of certain words, or even that you can't speak English. I think we can safely assume here that the real issue is the same issue of all narcissistic 17 year olds-- trying to sound important by constructing sentences the way they see them in books, but failing at it for the simple reason that they haven't had enough practice at it yet. Eventually you'll be great at it, but humility (or in the very least, acceptance) is necessary to grow into the type of writer that can grip their audience with prose with the same ease as most display in general chit-chat. You're not there yet, but trust me on this one-- we're all hoping you'll get there. Case in point, changing your username doesn't help you get there any faster. It just turns off people who may have wanted to help you get there in the first place. I know you don't think you 'need' anyone, and you don't. You could master the English language all on your own (excluding the thousands of authors you'd need to read from), but it's so much easier when you have an environment where people can constructively criticize each other, accept the criticisms, start working to fix them, then display this growth as proof of not just their intellect, but of their history of growth as well. The way you conduct conversations on this forum in combination with your constant username changes robs you of any of the benefits of education and experience-- unless of course your ultimate goal in language learning is to be able to communicate with yourself.

Hey, Harv. I'm buying you lunch and/or dinner during the convention in San Antonio this coming March. All you have to do is accept my offer. I, for one, look forward to hanging out with you. trying to sound important by constructing sentences the way they see them in books, but failing at it for the simple reason that they haven't had enough practice at it yet. I can almost relate to this in regards to one of my two writing styles. When I'm posting serious shit, I try to be as grammatically correct as possible, whereas my fun comments are of the whimsical nature. Then again, there's possibly a third, consisting of a subtle approach I've been know to use so well.

Not that the Prague conference did not. I just haven't heard much from it.

Is Atlas MIA or pulling a BitcoinPorn stunt? Inquiring minds want need to know. My hope is that all is well and he hadn't turned into a Rip Van Winkle due to the lack of sleep. I actually attempted to call him out as user ALPHA the other day but got my post deleted lol I still think Alpha is atlas
