I don't know if it's just me, but the last 5-6 times I've logged into the forum, the CAPTCHA has been a pain in the ass. Right now it's taken me about 5 tries. I've selected in a way that I thought was obviously correct and it said it was incorrect and I had to try again.
Has anyone else had this happen?

The real solution is to bypass captcha : https://bitcointalk.org/captcha_code.phpImagine if you are a Tor user, you may have to do this even for hours to prove you are a real human. and many have/had faced this issue and that is reason why Theymos introduced this feature.
EDIT: Posted faster above lol. Internet sucks.

You can bypass the captcha by logging in using the link in this page captcha bypass code if you still don't know, it's really convenient using in tor as well. EDIT: Posted faster above lol. Internet sucks these days. Never be late to the party bro! I'll be the first next time ^^

I've encountered these kinds of issues a few days ago it takes too long to log in because of this. But I think that because of the Internet cause when I restart my internet connection the Captcha will fix. But this is a common issue if you are using incognito in your browser. Try to restart your internet Op if nothing gonna happen to, try to use what stated above by our forum mates.

two days ago, I had the same problem as the OP. even when I try to log in with a mobile browser the result is the same. At first, I thought it was related to my internet connection. but not. maybe I've tried up to 10x to log in and finally don't know what happened I can log in again as usual. turns out there is a solution

The real, real solution is to never log out, though I have to assume OP knows that and for whatever reason can't remain logged in forever. I don't think I've ever had a problem with bitcointalk's captcha, but I'm always logged in and have had my settings that way for a long time, so it's possible I have. Imagine if you are a Tor user, you may have to do this even for hours to prove you are a real human. and many have/had faced this issue and that is reason why Theymos introduced this feature. Not sure if all of those bots and spammers we've had here were using Tor or not, but that captcha is definitely necessary to keep the bots away. If it didn't exist, this forum would be the target for massive spam attacks. In fact, I believe when I registered in 2015 there wasn't a login captcha and the problem with new accounts posting spam for health supplements and so forth was a lot worse back then.

Today, the captcha is a little more irritating than usual, but I have patience with it - I remember once solving hundreds of them a day by clicking on the faucets. I think that such situations happen because there is an increased attack of bots on the captcha service, and Google reacts to this by increasing the difficulty which inevitably affects legitimate users as well.

Can't remember when I had to solve captcha to login to Bitcointalk last time. I clicked to always stay logged in, so I can't answer your question. Are you using VPN or Tor? I think that people who use it sometimes face issues when they have to solve captcha. I remember when I used faucets I had to solve hundreds of captchas each day and then difficulty of Google ReCaptcha increased much. It's normal thing because Google considered that activity from my network is suspicious. That may be case for you if you're using TOR, VPN or something similar.

The real solution is to bypass captcha
This is a half solution though because it only solves the login issue not the cloudflare issue since cloudflare is not too kind to Tor and sometimes VPN users and keeps giving you a captcha to solve to just open the website (before even reaching the login page).

I also have the same configuration on my gadgets where I logged in on the Bitcoin talk forum and have shortcut over laptop so need to take over these captcha all the time you are logging in and it saves my time a lot. But yesterday i tried logging with captcha from another device and there was captcha about fire hydrants and it goes well so no problem at my end but as suggested you can byepass it with some methods. But best is to click the box where it says always stay logged in which works fine.

You could just say google reCAPTCHA is simply hostile against Tor/VPN user. The real solution is to bypass captcha
This is a half solution though because it only solves the login issue not the cloudflare issue since cloudflare is not too kind to Tor and sometimes VPN users and keeps giving you a captcha to solve to just open the website (before even reaching the login page). Fortunately theymos configure Cloudflare to be more lenient towards Tor users, although Cloudflare Onion Service sometimes doesn't work properly.

I don't know why, but I had the idea that for security reasons it is better to log out and log in. Can anyone confirm if there is no problem with this?

The only problem that comes to my mind is that it can be a bad idea if you share a device with someone. Even if this is not the case, I would never choose the "always stay logged in" option, because it only takes me about 15-20 seconds for this process (unless the captcha doesn't have a bad day).

If its your device and you are the only one who is going to use it means you can keep logged in as long as you can because I used to log in to bitcointalk only from my Personal laptop before so I checked stay always logged in and I didn't find any security issues so it all depends on your device and what website you are logged in. If you do the same in some shady website then it maybe a security threat for your device and still you can be save with firewall and anti virus protection.
sometimes VPN users and keeps giving you a captcha to solve to just open the website (before even reaching the login page).
Yeah, I too had such experience while using Opera especially because it comes with inbuilt VPN so it keep asking me to "verify you are a real human" with Google captcha and its kind of really annoying.

Well, this happens when you've been solving loads of reCAPTCHA within a short period of time or you used some bandwidth sharing apps might have caused your IP to be flagged. I've been through hell for over a year and it was excruciating painful to bear before hCAPTCHA came into the picture.
One way is to login via Incognito.

Has anyone else had this happen?
Does anyone know if the difficulty of solving CAPTCHA changes with login times? In other words, the more people (or DDOS attack) who login the forum, the more difficult it will be? Or is it linked to the IP address and cookies? I haven't solve CAPTCHA from a long time but I can remember an average of 2-4 minutes.

That's the feeling I get. When that happened to me, I had been logging in and logging out frequently in a short period of time, but today for example, I only logged in twice after many hours and found it easy. One way is to login via Incognito.
This is where you are wrong, my friend, incognito mode does not solve the problem.

I'm sure the OP had solved this Chaptcha problem before I even found this thread. Just out of curiosity I decided to test if this problem also happened to me or not. 5 logout and 5 login I seem to have no problem with Chaptcha and it's fine. But if in future I run into similar problem then I can find proper reference here to solve the problem. Quoting that now.

When that happened to me, I had been logging in and logging out frequently in a short period of time, but today for example, I only logged in twice after many hours and found it easy. I think it depends on each specific user and has nothing to do with the total number of logins to the site or DDOS attack. The Google captcha algorithm tries to distinguish bots from real (human) users. If it detects suspicious activity from a particular IP address, the captcha will become increasingly difficult to solve and will require more attempts. That is why captcha is always harder (and sometimes almost impossible) to solve through TOR or free VPN services.

Probably it's better in terms of security, especially if you haven't clicked to remember login details on your browser. But I don't share my PC and smartphone with anyone, so, I don't see much point to log in/log out every time when I visit Bitcointalk. Especially when I come here so many times during the day.
