Hi there experts,

I've been trying to find a RTX 3070 and mainly considering ASUS brand. I believe both V2 and Ti are LHR versions hence they are certainly not for mining. However other non LHR cards got several models for the same GPU.

Most popular models seems to be Strix, ROG and TUF. Which model is more suitable for mining?

Thanks

Rather than going through the mess that it will be to get the older style miner, I suggest that you instead go for a Radeon 6800 or 6800 XT.  They will be roughly the same performance of an original 3060/3070 without having to verify every single model number when you purchase it.  Also, you can buy them new for the price of a used 3060/3070.

The brands you mention are good and ASUS is a really good brand in general. However I personally have a few Nvidia cards running on my rigs and the Gigabyte versions are always the most durable and usually run somewhat cooler.Evga is by many the top brand for Nvidia cards for both in mining and gaming and I also think the same, even a 2 fan GTX 1080 ti I have runs really cool compared to three fan versions of this card.If you want to mine with Nvidia going with Evga is the best option.

ASUS a really good brand? I would never buy any ASUS card for mining because -> a friend had some ASUS cards in the past: 5 cards are complete dead, and around 15 cards with complete defective fans after 6 months of mining with 50% fan speed (this are Nvidia and AMD cards)

Looks like it's your friend's fault, just because his or her cards are running at 50% fan speed doesn't mean it's bad see it depends on the temperature in the environment, the higher the fan speed the cooler the GPU gets heats are the greatest enemies of mining equipment.

You can find Asus 3070s Non LHR brand new for around $1300, or you can go for the 6800 XT at around the same price. If it was up to me I would get the 3070s as Nvidia cards tend to store value better over time.

Try installing the 470.05 driver then put it directly to the 1st pcie x16 slot and plug a monitor if the hash rate is around 40mh/s no overclocks. Your good if not it's most likely a v2 of the 3060 which is lhr.

ROG - Republic of Gamers.
This is not a model of a video card cooling system, but a series of products from Asus.
I prefer the STRIX cooling system, the fans are not the best, usually 1 fan breaks in 3 years.
Asus under warranty changes the cooling system, but you can do it quickly yourself.
