People's experience are shared here all the time. But, this thread is what i experienced about different networks, how they operate, how to recover a missing fund sent to the wrong network, how some funds can get stuck in a network and the work of network bridges.

Last few days, I sent 0.01Eth to my metamask wallet using a KCC network and the transaction ticked completed on the exchange but for 24 hours I was not able to see the funds on my wallet.

Luckily metamask supports the KCC network. If not I would be compelled to import my private key to a wallet that supports KCC network. So, I integrated the KCC network into my metamask network using these instructions.

Code:
Network Name: KCC-MAINNET

New RPC URL: https://rpc-mainnet.kcc.network

Chain ID: 321

Currency Symbol: KCS

Block Explorer URL: https://explorer.kcc.io/

NOTE: This is applicable to any other network you can find out their configuration settings. For metamask, go to settings and select network then input the configuration code and the network will be integrated into your wallet.

After this step my funds didn't appear. So, I had to import ethereum token into the KCC MAINNET network on my wallet using this format.

Code:
Token Contract address: 0xf55af137a98607f7ed2efefa4cd2dfe70e4253b1

Token symbol: ETH

Token Decimal: 18

After importing the tokens my funds appeared. But one other issue was finding who makes use of the KCC network. (So, I have to make use of network bridges).

How to restore funds sent to the wrong network?

Please verify that the receiving wallets shares same network as yours before sending your money. But, the mistake can get corrected. Funds may get lost if the right steps are not taken.

You need the mnemonic code converter to get started

Follow this link for the proper instructions that will get your funds recovered = https://community.trustwallet.com/t/how-to-recover-funds-sent-to-a-wrong-public-address/145

List of some Networks and their exchanges.

Some exchanges may not require you to use network bridges because they already support some other networks on their site. This link below will help guide you better as well. Whether you need a Bridge or not.

To complete my experience, I found a reputable member on this forum (@cryptoprenuerbrainboss) that shares same network as mine and sent the funds to him and he helped me exchange the fund.

My next step would have been sending the funds back to the exchange and then resend to my wallet using erc-20 as the appropriate network.

This thread will guide newbies to be careful before forwarding funds to other wallet address. The steps I took to restore my missing eth can be applicable to any coin, wallet or network. But, the instruction will differ. Please check this thread for replies that will be of help or visit your wallet community for guide if you make such a mistake in future or have done such a mistake and don't know how to recover your funds.

Cheers!

Not only metamask, all types of hexadecimal addresses (with prefix 0x) basically have the same private key. You can recover it in any non-custodial wallet that supports adding new RPCs as long as you have the key.

This kind of case only happens if you send from a centralized wallet to a private wallet, usually they offer a network withdrawal option. It would really be a problem if you sent the other way around, where the recipient doesn't have the key as to send to a centralized exchange. You'll have to work a little harder to recover it by fulfilling ridiculous requests from the support team.

This space for rent.

This situation could happen when you didn't check what network it is and having the same prefix. The prefix 0x is used in bsc, ethereum, polygon and more. There is some network where you can send or receive using the bridge like the axie infinity. Jist be careful next time not to send the funds on wrong public address to avoid experiencing the same mistake. Check first before send.

In addition to the post above. To recover the funds is to import the wallet on the wallet provider and choose the network where it is sent.
