When we talk about cryptos the majority of the people still think that you're completely anonymous when you do your transactions, this is only partially true, because transactions are anonymous but traceable too, and even an unskilled ""hacker"" could track you down and expose your identity.

So, having said that, does anybody know how to transfer ETH anonymously?...maybe someone could suggest a program, platform that could allow that?

Right, crypto transactions are psuedo anonymous.

But if you wanted to be private, then maybe you can used privacy coins like Monero?

Anyhow, regarding your questions, I think their is a Ethereum mixer out there, but just be careful though, there are a lot of mixers including bitcoin that copy the real website, so double check everything because using a Ethereum mixer, best of luck.

Just like in Bitcoin where you can use mixers inorder to break the links of your bitcoin transactions, in ETH there are also sites that offers mixing services, most popular I know is tornado cash, I did not tried it but I saw many people using its services maybe for eth anonymity and users privacy.

There's a platform called Tornado Cash that claims to be an Ethereum Mixer. I haven't tried it and no plan on doing so but you can still check them out.

https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/ethereum-mixer-tornado-cash-launches-150053060.html

Be careful with other mixers because many are just plain scams.

Tornado Cash is the best candidate if the subject is Erc20 mixer but still there's a risk on using it as they are anonymous and not well known.

As far as heard on different discussion thread about mixing in ERC20, It's still possible to trace your transaction even if you use mixer since the smart contract can be reverse engineer and reveal all the transaction since its a smart contract on Ethereum. Your best chance to have a complete anonymous transaction is only XMR or Zcash which use Zk-Snark technology.

Is ethereum having full node wallet? You can make use of the full node wallet.

Or if you are using SPV wallet, you will need to make use of coin control appropriately. Use Tor anytime to you want to use your wallet, change your relay circute if connecting to another wallet. Access each wallet with different Tor relay circuits so the wallets are not connected together by the central server.

Generally not using IP addresses for any connection related to your wallet.

If your address is not connected to any of the exchange which required KYC then you are anonymous, even though if you are connected in someway the exchange nay trace you but for an individual its not a easy task, either they need to find the trace from the database of exchange which is similar to hacking an exchange or access your wallet physically.

Some of the people said there are some mixers available for ethereum but personally I never used them so its really a high risk to mox your ethereum.

Don't you see some people that wearing mixer sig? That may give you a clue about that but these days even when you will be able to do to send transaction anonymously and how can you withdraw your money? CEX is holding most of liquidity in the crypto. Even when you're using dex and then you will need to send it to cex to cash out your money.

That's why so many hackers able to steal money from various parties but they are feeling so difficult to cash out and this is very good thing for ecosystem to prevent the hacker that was cashing out people's money. These days almost all of ways to cash out your money implement KYC verification. Anon applicable only in chain transaction but it's not when it comes to cash out your money.

I Agree with this observation mate, I believe that you will remain anonymous if your address is not connected to any platform that requires KYC verification, but it's far from happening because most of the platforms that have fiat transfer services has required the KYC procedure to all of their users because it was mandated by each countries central bank and AMLC so no other way to become anonymous because you still need fiat to buy supplies that you need unless most of the establishment in your country is accepting cryptocurrency as payment maybe that time you can use cryptocurrencies anonymously.

Well, pretty much any way if you want your transactions to be anonymous. In fact, when you transfer from wallet to exchange, and from exchange to wallet, it's quite difficult to know who the sender of eth is. only, the fee is quite large if you do that.
however, another thing, you can use a mixer. There are many places that provide this. Besides that, being anonymous here means that we don't know who owns the wallet. In fact, if it's actually traceable like you said, then why are there so many hackers from exchanges that haven't been discovered yet? Yes, because this transaction is quite anonymous if done correctly. Well, that's what I understand so far.

It is possible if you just transfer your Ethereum from your wallet to another but not an exchange wallet. In our country I think it is not possible to transfer Ethereum anonymously because the wallet available in our country is also an exchange and it's very strict. You can't withdraw or cash out your money from Ethereum if you did not undergo kyc.

I don't think just using full node will simply make the transaction anonymous/pseudonymous. There is a lot of factors that still need to be considered.

There is no such thing as an SPV wallet in Ethereum. Probably what you mean is a light client. And AFAIK it is nonsense to make use of coin control, it's completely invalid. Ethereum is not based on the UTXO model but rather account-based, so again, there is no such thing as coin control.

You seem to compare it to Bitcoin, in fact, both ETH and BTC is completely different.

@OP, as other suggest, if you want to seek privacy on ETH, you should learn in-depth about Tornado Cash.

I'm not very familiar with this problem, but I've heard that there are exchanges that people can't check, but until now I haven't seen it, today people easily check and track us with simple tools, does crypto have developers who can keep all that secret, I'm also not sure it's in crypto or exchange.

can be tracked by the end of the shipment at an authorized market address to be used.
automatically there when we fill in the biodata with the kyc system it will be tracked whose wallet address it is.. but all of that must require accuracy because not everyone can..

Tonardo cash was used by IDO scammers in moving investors funds via the ethereum network to avoid been traced. I doubt good guys really need all that, they can just use privacy coin to be anonymous. If one doesn't  expose himself unnecessarily, people will be less concern in tracking them.

ETH isn't 100% anonymous because it's not built to be a privacy coin like Monero or others, if you want real privacy aka anonymous spendings you should consider blockchain projects built with privacy in mind

Yup, some other members mentioned it above, and there are a few alternatives, Monero being the most solid (or, at least, the best known). I won't mention others as they are well known and I don't want to end up being spammy with the alternative project that some of you know that I love because I always talk about it Cheesy

BTW, I'm total newbie on Ethereum privacy/anonymity and the following statement may be utterly clueless, but some years ago I read somewhere that your IP could be linked to some ETH transactions. Is this true? because some of you are talking about KYC like this IP idea wasn't even on the table.

I can't determine whether it is correct on the underlying technicalities level but I think it is still likely so. On another hand, in the application layer in where users interact with dApps or use a light client like Metamask, I believe any IP can be traced to any eth transaction. Also, if you are using Etherscan, it will also leaks your IP into a specific transaction. There's a lot of multi-variate things to deanonymize a transaction, especially because Ethereum isn't built with its privacy in mind and there are a ton of third-party dApps, expect that Eth transaction can easily be traceable.

Actually this goes back to each individual, I think, because as far as I know it also depends on the market.
if you make or transact through an exchange that has KYC then it is not anonymity, different if there is no kyc verification then you are still one of the anonymizers that will not be detected

Actually this goes back to each individual, I think, because as far as I know it also depends on the market.
if you make or transact through an exchange that has KYC then it is not anonymity, different if there is no kyc verification then you are still one of the anonymizers that will not be detected
I believe it is more specific to wallet-to-wallet transactions. not from an exchange like you mean. Indeed, there is a possibility that our data will be known by hackers, but the system on the exchange platform where we usually trade, I think, is safe enough. or even very safe.
if you want to do a completely anonymous transaction, I guess can use it with 3rd party like a platform mixer. it will put you on anonymity. of course it will provide a greater fee than the usual transaction.
