I don't know if this topic has been discussed before but I will like to know and share knowledge on the dangers of online gambling addiction as we have seen many horrible incidents that result from the action of gambling addiction.
Some go as far as selling the residence apartment just to gamble away, what really leads to this is greed or lack of discipline?

that's all because greed of fun ! a person who is very addicted is willing to do anything to have fun ,By the way you should move this thread to a discussion board ,it seems also like there's been a lot of discussion about addiction As far as I know an active gambler doesn't have discipline ,just want to get money from the opportunities in front of him in any gambling

It's the same as any other addiction, to maintain an addiction you have to keep pouring in the money and at the end when you are broke and have no job, you don't really have an option to do that, so you try and sell the already existing assets that you might have, the addiction does change your brain structure as well and cause deep seated problems, that's why most of the sites working on the forum do stress about the *responsible gambling*, there are many professional help that you might get here at the same time many people can also use their government established agencies to help people with gambling Addiction free of cost. The effect of gambling addiction is just as it is every aspect of it both physical gambling or online whichever way gambling is done is having same addiction if you can't control yourself. Like you have also said, an online gambler can sell properties to try there luck. Both. A thread comes up recently where he excluded himself from stake.com casino yet suddenly he deposit funds to his account and lose. That's got to be something in his mind before that indecent. If he sold his house and deposit his money to gamble again, this guy really needs help not just from his family or he loses his family as well.

Addiction in any form can often be devastating because it often gets out of control. There are addictions that can be kept in check at a low level, but it's easy to let slip and have it balloon into something much more damaging. Sadly such addictions can often affect the people with the least money and will make the fight back even harder as it can lead into a spiral of depression where they try to gamble more in order to get out of debt. The only way to stop this sort of thing is education at an early age, really hammering home the fact that casinos make such huge profits because it is so drastically rigged against the players over the long term and the mathematical odds of beating it mean it's pretty much impossible.

I will tell from personal experience.I was playing really often gambling some times losing some times winning,both sport betting and slot machines.However the later,the slots get the best out of me and I started playing every day slots.Some time I won some time I lost,however a couple of times I won good amount of money which made me think,this is it I found the Eldorado,I know how to win slots so I kept playing with false hopes.
Until one day I lost a really huge amount and part of that money was some of my emergency fund (a fund I keep it for 6-9 months due to Covid fear) and that made me really really sad.I sat down,took a deep breath and started to think cold minded,since then I have quit gambling as I realized I was led by gambling addiction.

Moral of the story is,only the person himself can come out from any addiction,including gambling.I luckily am one of them (well at least so far).

Addiction is a traceable term and in most cases, gambling addictions always result from several factors, and popular among them is greed and excessive fun-seeking and these two is trace to your point for a person to want to sell the personal property just to gamble is the highest height of addiction and this is as a result of greed so I will say to get rid of addiction you need to break the hold of greed.
Sometimes addictions can lead to several dangerous acts which what you mention is among them some other people will good as far borrowing to gamble and even go into crime just to get funds to gamble with.
In all, I will advise we avoid being too excessive in gambling and try to manage our time properly.

I think that it's usually the lack of understanding. People fail to understand that there's nothing certain in gambling (excepting that the house always wins - sooner or later). People think that they can earn money from gambling (i.e. sure wins)

I've seen so many people coming with ideas and strategies how to beat this or that gambling site...
And, whether one tells it or not, I expect that the gambler thinks that he has "understood how it works". Maybe he even got some nice win once. Maybe he had a bit of profit many times. And got to get used to that.
Then got unlucky and lost all. From that moment on, he will try to recover the loss. He doesn't understand that he will make it worse. And worse...
And the body doesn't help at all. Because the adrenaline and endorphins are made in large quantities even if one is losing.

If one understand that gambling is for fun, if one understands that it's something to play with money he affords to lose, then he can have fun now and then. Of course, the adrenaline comes when bigger amounts are gambled, hence us, the poorer ones, have to do it less often (so we put away a bit more money) if we want it to be good.

It's not greed. But it's clearly lack of discipline. After a certain level is met, you don't have to have at hand more money than you should gamble.

There was an other thread where there was a guy blaming stake.com for his losses because stake.com didn't lock his account permanently. As you see gambling can became a very dangerous addiction. If you don't get cured, you'll lose everything and even worse, you won't be able to get a job because gambling will be all you think about all day. This is how you go homeless.

Greed, lack of discipline, being stupid... one or all of these could be the reason. But...

You don't drink a bottle of liquor in one take. You just don't do it. It is common sense. If you have any common sense, you just don't get addicted to gambling.

Gambling addiction is a trap from the gambling site their first allow the gambler to win for some time and after that try to wrap away all the winning leaving to the gambler with no other choice to keep playing just to recover from the loss. The best thing is to stop being too hard on yourself and learn to move on when the dice are against you.

Well, this has been discussed so many times on the Gambling discussion board just go there and search on your own.
When you are at that stage which is addiction, it is not easy to recover yourself on your own --you need someone who tells you that you are in the wrong way and addiction is not good at all, it will ruin your entire life that could be possible regretting in the future. I have heard a lot of negative actions of this gambling addiction, something like a casino massacre, selling assets and properties, or the more worst is when you start committing a crime just to sustain your gambling activities. This could be a lack of advice, lack of self-control, and being greed will be the consequences is like this.

Selling your residence just to gamble is a clear addiction to me, and that is very dangerous because you’re already on the stage of peak addiction and you might not be able to recover from that if no one is helping you. Its very dangerous and depressing better to avoid gambling if you don’t have self control to avoid from being addict.

Gambling addict might end up.

1. Selling assets or everything they could have
2. Do suicide when they are on big debts
3. Hide into someone who you do have loans
4. Doing crime just for you to gamble.

Addiction is something that cant really be handled out well if you dont have that self control.This is why on early phase
you shouldnt really let yourself get shackled with gambling addiction or else it would fucked you up.
