Compliments of the season;
It has been a very eventful year for the world in general and also in the bitcoin community. 2020 as a year was had to beat in activities, but this year gave a run for the money.

This thread is aimed at putting the year into perspective, considering developments which took place in bitcoin and also in bitcointalk.  This would give us a perspective of development taking place in the bitcoin scene and also how the forum is progressing.

So, here’s 2021 by the numbers;

Nice. I very much appreciate you taking out the time to think of a review on how far bitcoin and the community is doing though, I would have liked it to cover a comparison of maybe 3years. Although, the percentage ratings seems to amend that to some extent but a comparison of maybe 3years being 2019, 2020 and 2021 would have offered some real value to compare with.

Anyway, from the analysis above, a few values have proven vto be significant as per Price, Number of Node, Number of Channels, Number of Bitcoin, Number of Bitcoin ATMs while others seems to be at a minimal insignificant change as I see it. Not getting to an average but, it shows progress at the very least. Ims sure you would keep up with the data in progressives years. Nice one.

Lightning, not Lightening!

The Week Onchain (Week 52, 2021) is a last article from Glassnode Insights Newsletter in 2021. It is very informative summary about what happened on Bitcoin network in last 12 months.

I believe the "Number of Users" data for Bitcointalk statistics is inaccurate. That is the number of registered accounts, but most of the newly registered accounts remain inactive, so I do not think the data is correct. Maybe it would be better to count only the accounts that have made at least one post on the forum?

After looking at the data concerning BTCitcoin ATMs, it's crazy how aggressive both the US and Canada have been in the past year alone Shocked

I'm not sure if someone has been keeping tabs on the number of nuked accounts from the "modlog" page, but perhaps it might be interesting to see that information [for the past two years] in the Bitcointalk part.

Really nice efforts on your part to collect data about them and make two year comparison among them but out of them some has really significant growth like Number of merits on the forum,Bitcoin ATM's and most importantly LN which has grown to new heights within short span of time only.

2021 witnessed some huge demand for bitcoin and the forum also saw a little increase in the userbase  with 1% rise which is not so much but still a wide majority of people remain on forum posting effectively and helping each other in knowledge enhancement and merits on the forum is respective proof for the same.

The growth of LN was significant for this year as it was unexpected and here is graphical representation for the same According to glassnode data :

After looking at the data concerning BTCitcoin ATMs, it's crazy how aggressive both the US and Canada have been in the past year alone Shocked
Most importantly US witnessed huge growth in Bitcoin ATM installation and Canada is also moving at the same pace.I heard so many instances in which you could find Bitcoin ATM on gas station as well as some stores of wallmart also though the fees is quite high.

You could find list of cities having bitcoin ATM in USA here

It will be far more interesting to see some other countries also competing in the list and soon we could find more companies into such services and fees would be low and more people can use them.At this time bidirectional ATM are in few percentage but soon they will also be increased in number.Here is another look at how they have increased in number for all these years.

Quote
According to Coin ATM Radar, there were more than 24,700 Bitcoin ATMs in the US as of September 2021, up from 2,342 in Jan 2018.

The userbase increased by about 15%, it was the number of topics that increased by about 1%. Both data are not surprising though, cause we are measuring it against value of all time as the data is cumulative. Having 15% of new users join against the all time number is positive.

Also, the OP only consider topics, when you check growth in total messages (topics and replies), it amounts to about 5%.

I'm not sure if someone has been keeping tabs on the number of nuked accounts from the "modlog" page, but perhaps it might be interesting to see that information [for the past two years] in the Bitcointalk part.
Also, a percentage of the newly registered accounts that have ended up nuked or banned would be sweet. I expect there's quite a large percentage of them. We've got several account farms which post the same thing, and we can easily nuke upwards to a hundred a day. Seems like they have thousands of accounts at their disposal, and we've only touched the surface as they've continued the same type of posts for months.

2021 witnessed some huge demand for bitcoin and the forum also saw a little increase in the userbase  with 1% rise which is not so much but still a wide majority of people remain on forum posting effectively and helping each other in knowledge enhancement and merits on the forum is respective proof for the same.
Generally, as with any new technology we see a initial growth spurt, and then over time the percentage of growth usually dies down a little bit. This is evident with the forum's growth, and Bitcoin in general. Lightning being new shows significant growth, but this will likely die down in the future as more, and more have already adopted it.

The forum, and Bitcoin as long as we're still in the positive is a good thing.

Is there any stats on how much these bitcoin ATMs are being used? Are they any popular?
We could assume there is usage since they keep installing more but I tend to prefer solid data that can be relied upon since it may well be a failing attempt.

P.S. LN stats are phenomenal every time I checked them out.

Coinatmradar's charts. CoinATMradar is popular and I think you know about this. I tried to find answers for you and they only have some charts.

If they give details of total buy or sell transaction fees, it will be very great but I can not find it. They only have Buy Fee Size at Bitcoin ATMs and Sell Fee Size at Bitcoin ATMs

I think that 2021 was really great year for Bitcoin. First, it's enough to look at price.
But more important I think that Bitcoin is getting mainstream thing. And I can bring example how it happens. Look at sports. Crypto companies (trading platforms, sportsbooks mainly) becomes main sponsors of sports teams and leagues. 1-2 year ago it was very rare thing, and now it happens so often that we don't even pay much attention. It's enoughto see how many crypto related names we can see in football, NBA or F1. It cost so much to be sponsors and it shows that crypto companies now are able to compete with old tradional business like banks, fiat spirtsbooks and other giants.
Is there any stats on how much these bitcoin ATMs are being used? Are they any popular?

P.S. LN stats are phenomenal every time I checked them out.
I don't know data of Bitcoin ATM's usage, but if there wouldn't be demand, probably they wouldn't keep installing new ATM's. Because of regulations, there is any Bitcoin ATM's in whole my country, but even if it would be, I doubt that I would use it.
