So I read on another thread about this.
Just to be clear: I'm not asking if "learn and earn" programs are worth it. I understand for somebody working in the US those programs are a waste of time, But some of us don't live in the US, and to make it worse some of us are currently unemployed, so any way to start is a blessing, no matter what it costs (at least in terms of time and/or effort).

What I'm worried, first, is about security. Is there a way those programs might be scams, or any other way to hurt me financially?

But, most importantly, can you guys provide some other exchanges that offer such programs? I'm not particularly worried about KYC (though I find it to be a major annoyance), but any exchange that would request that I provide a credit card or any other banking information (like Coinbase, for example) is an absolute no-no, not only because I don't have a credit card, but because the laws where I live are so incredibly convoluted it'd be a miracle for a regular Joe to even sign up there.

As usual, any information you can add is welcomed. Thank you all in advance.  Smiley

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

CoinMarketCap has a similar program, though I really can't vouch for it as I haven't tried it(not sure about the requirements as well). I guess that at least you won't be worried about being scammed.

I was going to recommend coinbase, until I read more on your topic and it is actually the only exchange I am aware of that has such an option.
I understand your point about needing somewhere to start considering where you are from. But, if your aim is to earn as you get into cryptocurrencies, you should also explore other means that will be more rewarding for the time consumed.
If you have a skill, you could market it here and if you do not, you could find one that interests you and build on it.

What I'm worried, first, is about security. Is there a way those programs might be scams, or any other way to hurt me financially?
There is an obvious privacy risk as many of such websites would require your personal information. There could also be a security risk with those mining services they claim you can do with your mobile phone and earn from.

I do know that Binance offers such programs from time to time [e.g. search for Learn & Earn], but I'm not sure about its requirements and I prefer to not vouch for them and the following two [KuCoin and Phemex]!

Coinbase is one of first crypto exchanges that run campaigns to earn crypto by learning. If I am right, Coinbase did it in 2019, 3 years ago. They required to KYC to claim airdrop as well. I am not sure that they did require KYC at beginning of their first Learn & Earn airdrop or just after a while sometime when they realized that they have to do something to detect and reject cheaters.

Details and review about Coinbase's Earn

Coinbase Earn
Education is a big part of investing in crypto, especially for beginners. Coinbase offers a Coinbase Learn hub with beginner’s guides to different coins and uses of cryptocurrency, regular updates about what’s going on in the market, and recommendations for more resources.

It also incentivizes users to actively learn through Coinbase Earn. You can watch short videos and take quizzes about specific altcoins, and Coinbase will deposit a small amount of that crypto into your wallet as a reward.

Don't worry.

As long as it's from a reputable exchange and they're not going to require you any deposit, that's how it usually goes. A reputable exchange won't scam you for the task that they'll ask you to do with their earn program.

AFAIK, it's part of the marketing of that specific project and that's why it's given in the form of altcoin. So, whoever is the project that wants to take part on that program, it's like an advertisement to them.

Coinmarketcap and coinbase are the only two with "earn & learn" programs. CMC is tied with binance  - payouts goes to your binance account.
At others it's more like "hold & earn" (get some bonuses while holding their native tokens) or doing tasks ... both requires invest money

I say go for binance and kucoin.
Binance to receive coinmarketcap earnings.
Kucoin has learning program for newbies but aims for traders and I think some deposit is required to claim earnings.

Check also blockchain.com ... I've received some nice airdrop in past, not sure if they will continue.

AFAIK, that's no longer a thing. They still have their learning portal, but they're just not doing any more airdrops.

Thank you all for the replies.  Smiley
I have already signed up for the learn & earn program in coinbase, so I'm waiting...
In binance I already have an account, so I'm also waiting...
With Kucoin I'm having a problem: I signed up a while ago. Now I tried to sign in, and it's telling me the email or password is "incorrect". I tried to reset the password using my cellphone, and it won't happen. So then I tried to open another account using my cellphone, and it tells me "the cellphone is associated with another account"...  Roll Eyes
So let's say kucoin is "on hold" for now...

The problem with them requiring a credit card is not about them asking for a deposit. It's not gonna happen anyway.
The real problem is I don't have a credit card, and Argentinian law doesn't allow internet purchases on debit cards, so if I put my debit card (I tried) it gives an error.

About skills, I'm learning python programming as we speak. Hit a major roadblock now, but I will try to figure it out this weekend. My biggest problem is most ads asking for workers ask for experienced people. For example, I could apply for a translator job to Spanish, but I need to quote my job and I don't know how much to ask, and I can't link any previous experience because I don't have any...

Same with the signature campaigns: most look for high ranked members, and the only one I found I could sign up for requires a number of posts per week in gambling boards, and I don't know the first thing about gambling (I don't gamble).

Anyway, thank you all for taking the time.  Smiley

Just contact the support and avoid creating another account. That's against their rules and you could end up losing access to your funds in both accounts if you do.

If you're unsure about the rates, just go through some similar offers online, or here on the forums (services board). As for the experience, then I would personally try and help translate some big projects like Electrum, zap wallet, Trezor, Bitcoin core, etc. They all tend to have a repository in either Transifex or Crowdin.

Not sure what your local language is, but you can translate Bitcoin.org too as well. The way it worked back then(pre 2017, if my memory serves me right) is that I just voluntarily translated a good number of text and at some point I received a message asking for my bitcoin address. I don't remember there being a sort of "sats per word" rate or something though, so you're probably going in blind income-wise.

Yes, that's what I meant. I already applied for some of these projects and it's pretty easy to get started. Obviously, though, your translation will get peer-reviewed by others so I'd advise you to get a bit familiar with some of the technical words and see how people are currently translating them in existing apps. Here are the links for some of the projects I mentioned above and more[1][2][3][4].

This is easy if you're unsure about the rates.

You can go to the other marketplaces like the freelancing sites such as Upwork and check how many people there are asking. You'll have the idea of how much that skill is asking their clients.

And for you to gain experience, it's normal. We all started as beginners and from nothing, with this, as you're learning with python, look for those websites like github where you can contribute and that can be a great experience for you to add to your portfolio.

Oh, you mean on a voluntary basis? I'll look them up see if I can get things going. Thanks again. Smiley

Not sure what your local language is, but you can translate Bitcoin.org too as well. The way it worked back then(pre 2017, if my memory serves me right) is that I just voluntarily translated a good number of text and at some point I received a message asking for my bitcoin address. I don't remember there being a sort of "sats per word" rate or something though, so you're probably going in blind income-wise.

https://www.transifex.com/bitcoinorg/bitcoinorg/

Ummm... I'm confused. I'm signing up to Transifex to start translating, but it's asking me to upload a file. Huh
I thought the idea was for me to translate their files. what am I doing wrong?

Did you join the translation team yet though? On the page above (and after logging in) select the language and then choose 'View resources' > head to the top right corner and choose "Join team". In some cases, you'll have to wait until they give you the green light to start translating. Once that's out of the way, you just select the project and click "Translate".

I don't know, it doesn't say a thing...
Maybe I should wait? Huh

Could you please take another screenshot? It's not legible but I'm assuming you're on transifex main page instead of the bitcoin.org translation page?
