If you have ever played on "Provably Fair" casino site before,  you may feel like you have to jump through to many hoops just to verify everything is "fair".  I expect traditional casino sites to suffer from these issues,  not crypto based sites considering that it's crypto based. I aim to end that feeling of wondering if all your rolls have been "provably fair" because I dont like it either.  So I developed what I think is a very simplistic solution to the decades old "Provably Fair" algorithms that doesnt rely upon anything other than the value of a block's hash.  There is another project (that I discovered AFTER I developed this) called Polycash that's sort of similar but MAN is it difficult to understand or use!  I'm a dev and I couldnt even figure it out,  so a normal joe is absolutely never going to be able to use it.  Also,  it needs to be stated that this is anything but groundbreaking.  If this sounds like Bitcoin Mining itself,  that's because IT IS.  This game works exactly like Bitcoin's own mining process.  So if you learn how to play this game,  you'll also be learning how bitcoin mining itself works and that to me is a win.  The more people who know how BTC works,  the better I think.

The main idea of Hash Wars is this:
You make a bet as to how many times a certain number will show up in a FUTURE blockhash of a selected crypto (such as bitcoin).  If you guess right and you're bet is one of the top 3 highest bets (sound familiar?  I also aim to teach about how Bitcoin mining works lol),  you win a portion of the pot split between the top 3 player bets.  Thats the entire game in a nutshell.  There are other nuances such as the number you select and the slot you select but that's really all there is to it.  Very simple.

To me, basing the roll on a blockhash rather than some algorithmic randomization solves ANY kind of "Provably fair" problems because:

  • Theres no "algorithm" to understand that requires Doctorate level math knowledge
  • Theres no "Server seed / Client seed" worries.  95% of all sites that use these almost always make it impossible to EASILY figure out how to change the client seed for every single roll which defeats the purpose of "Provably Fair" IMO.
  • Theres no need to record the result of EVERY single freaking roll and it's "seeds" in order to validate every roll.  One can do that using any block explorer.  So you no longer need to be a developer to vet the site's "fairness" by recording everything in an sqlite db.  Anyone with access to a block explorer and web.archive.org can do it.
  • It gives the player more of a sense of security since nothing is hidden or difficult to validate.

One of the features of this site that I personally like (a bit prejudiced here since I'm the house lol) is that the house doesnt need to fund the site in order for it to function.  Players do the funding, so there is no need for a "house bankroll" either.  The house (or rather I) can do so if it so chooses and I do plan to do so in the early stages just to get things going but it's not actually a requirement.  I'm sure there are probably other gambling sites out there that do something similar,  but truthfully,  I have no idea what such a game is called.  Progressive pot?  So there's no possibility that the site would ever fold due to insufficient funds since it can literally run itself without any bank roll from the house and the server is literally run from my basement, so I dont really pay any server costs (I'm a dev after all so my basement actually has datacenter racks in it lol)

Deposits:Bitcoin or Vertcoin
Withdrawals:100% automated and processed every 1 minute.
Withdrawal fees:The fee method used is the estimatesmartfee (3 block estimate) feature from the core client so it will vary depending upon network congestion.  I get none of the fees, you'll see that in the block explorers.
House edges:0.01% on player seeded games,  4.75% on house seeded games.

It's a fully working site that accepts Bitcoin and Vertcoin deposits and withdrawals but it still has room for improvement (smart contracts).  Ideally I'd like the ability to remove the need for any kind of withdraw/deposits at all and have everything evaluate and payout via a smart contract.  I did this preliminary version mostly as an experiment and proof of concept.  Is anyone aware of a site that has done anything even remotely similar?  If so, does it use smart contracts?  I'd be super interested in a smart contract platform that can evaluate it's own blockchain such as returning the values of past blochhashes with the ability to evaluate if statements based on them.

If anyone is interested in learning more,  you should start by reading the FAQs section here: https://hashwars.games/faqs

NOTE: This is an experimental site that I am toying with that is fully functional.  This is NOT meant to be a casino site that's going to grow to an insane size like Stake or something.  It's more or less just a trial run for something I may develop in the next year or two that would be smart contract based but using the same blockhash logic if I find there is interest for such a monster.  However that currently isnt possible with any smart contract languages that I'm aware of yet.  If you know of one that can pull it's own past blockhashes and do evaluations on them,  please do mention it as well as the API to do such a thing,  dont just say "XYZ can do that".  I want to see proof Wink  So consider this a proof of concept site of something that may come about in the future.  Worst case scenerio, I make a few bucks just for the side project.

Credits:  Yes the site design itself is shamelessly swiped from a popular online retail game (I dont really like the company anyway lol).  Like I said I'm not artsy at all lol. The trailer is rather amusing and it is used by permission of a youtuber, the trailer links back to their youtube account as they requested.

PS:  Yes,  I realize I have an obsession with LoTR and it's painfully obvious in the site design, terminology I use through out the site,  as well as the trailer I selected to use lol.  But who the heck doesnt like LoTR!  Smiley  Besides,  it gives this simple game a little extra spice and isnt so bland.

Welcome into this forum  Hashwars.games !

So this is an another blockchain type kind of site/game. To make your ANN thread more appealing then you could have that copper membership.

Frankly speaking, blockchain type games arent that generating much attention or interest but lets see on how you would able to handle that.

I noticed you put TM beside Hash Wars, is that legit? Or you just put it on your own accord?

I am assuming also that it is a one-man team, is that right? As it is an experimental site, I believe it is not advisable to send big amount of money. Maybe, test the game using small funds. At least the OP himself already stated that this project is an experiment and proof of concept type project. So let's see how far he will go from here.

Thats correct,  it's something I placed there (duh, I built the site lol),  just like the copyright at the bottom.  Besides, it's a pretty unique name, I doubt anyone would complain and it just makes it look more official'ish,  it might also deter someone from swiping the name maybe?  idk.  Even though it is very much a proof of concept site,  BTC is also just a proof of concept.  So while it's experimental,  it's very much completely functional just like BTC Smiley  Do I expect to retire off the site?  Certainly not.  But I do believe it's got enough to merit working on and improving it more (thats how BTC came to be what it is).  Trying to do that on my own is not practical.  I am indeed a 1 man shop (so was BTC at the beginning, so there shouldnt be any negatives derived from that fact), but I also know the opinion of others is integral to producing a decent product.  That cant happen unless people other than myself participate Tongue

The idea of placing lots of crypto on the site.... that's part of the reason why I put a lesser known crypto on it as an option (Vertcoin).  I had to consider long and hard about whether to even add it at all because I'm actually a Bitcoin maximalist myself lol.

Welcome to the forum, a quick look over the site ks appealing and user-friendly, it has been a war to see how truly probably fair some casinos claim to have a probably fair system work because of the difficulty in verifying the game hash. To make your ANN more appealing to the view of the visitors on your thread you need to upload a more basic website page here and also mention your bonus system.
Once again welcome to the forum and keep improving that is the only way you can grow your presence on this forum.

Thanks for the feedback.  I'm not the greatest when it comes to creative design Wink  Anyway,  I did add some extra fields to the displays based on some of the feedback I got in PMs.  Bet counts,  threshold,  etc are now listed in the game displays.  It also seems to have been received well by the VTC community,  the games seem to be coming from those that have VTC and they gave it a plug on their reddit forum.  Not what I expected,  but welcome just the same Cheesy

Maybe the next thing I need to research are those banner things everyone has in their post footers.  Personally I dont click on those types of links,  but who knows, I'm not everyone else lol.

As you already have copper membership, much better if you post snippets of your site in the OP. There's too much texts and a lot here in my opinion, won't read all those texts. So if possible, post snapshots and then, maybe clickable that will direct to your site. There are other things to improve on your site but everyone starts from something.

Good thing that you do listen up on others advices on getting some copper membership. Do you have plans on running signature campaign to have some exposure?
Some suggestions about that web front page that banner shouldn't really be that big and it would be more preferable if that chatbox would be placed on the left side.
Not really that appealing on seeing those big texts.  Wink

Welcome to the forum.
The game sounds a lot like a lottery but players only will guess how many times a certain number will be in the hash. Looks very fair since no one could possibly guess and is entirely based on luck. They are using LN which is good. I'm curious why Vertcoin, there are lots of coins too. Just suggesting the ones with a low transaction fees.

I'm curious why Vertcoin, there are lots of coins too. Just suggesting the ones with a low transaction fees.

I chose Vertcoin because I know that it's not a "scam" coin.  It's more like Litecoin (it's actually a fork of Litecoin).  And being a Bitcoin maximalist myself (mostly anyway), I wanted to keep the selection to the absolutely bare minimum.  I gave Litecoin a HARD look and almost used it,  but the price of LTC is not what it was long ago (cheap).  I wanted to use something that wasnt overly expensive for people to obtain with super low TX fees.  I also gave Dogecoin a look,  but I dont really like the idea that it was developed as a joke and has no "max supply",  etc.  VTC just seems to fit everything I like about BTC without the expensive fees.  A VTC transaction is currently less than 100th of a penny.  I dont believe any crypto other than BTC is going to be around in a couple decades,  but right now,  it's not a couple decades later Smiley

So the fact that I dont consider VTC a scam is really the main deciding factor as I dont want to promote something that is,  or turns out to be in the future,  a scam of some sort.  VTC has been around long enough (2014) to have fulfilled that requirement imo.  Others that I may add in the future would probably be Litecoin, Monero, and possibly ETH if it survives it's PoS switch.  Right now though,  I'm happy with less rather than more.  The site is also sort of educational in that the game itself teaches the player how Proof of Work functions.

As for that chat,  it's already on the left side,  so I assume you meant stick it on the right side lol.  I have a Sockets system planned for the left side that will have realtime updates when people place a bet,  etc.  Also,  the chat itself is very clunky and driven by Ajax rather than WebSockets.  So it too is going to be converted to WebSockets instead.  Theres also a bug in it that seems to hide the chat input box that I need to stamp out.

but have you consider the market availability of VTC to players? most of the VTC markets are really not very popular exchanges, that's my opinion though. if you want cheaper transactions, have you looked at TRX? at least this one is available in most popular platforms. i won't consider this as a scam coin as they won't disappear anytime soon. but anyway, it is your casino, so your choice.

VTC is available on Bittrex which is pretty popular.  It's also the main exchange used for Vertcoin anyway.  Bittrex may not be a Binance or Coinbase,  but it's not exactly an unheard of exchange either.

I dont mind the coin suggestions at all.  I dont claim to know them all.  I have found however that many coin suggestions are based on those who have bags of it and may be biased Wink

Welcome to this forum Hashwars.games and @OP.
Long time I do not hear about Vertcoin and now, I am amazed that one casino uses Vertcoin as a deposit to play gambling.
Yes, Vertcoin is available on Bittrex but I never thought that this coin still has its popularity because if I am not mistaken, this coin is one of many coins that I used to trade in the past.
Can you fix the chatbox on the left side? Because I can not see it.
Hopefully, you can add another coin to the deposit so we have more options to deposit.

I am just glad someone is thinking out of the box and they are making it easier for the average person to determine if the bets was Provably fair or not.  Wink

The thing is.. most casinos use the RTP to manage their income and profits from the site. So they will increase the RTP before a promotion or a bonus offer to fund it... but with your system, this will not be possible. (if I understand it correctly)

How can a large casino survive with a 0.01 house edge? (Thinking to the future, when this takes off and you want to scale with the growth)

I like the concept of the game. It's always good to see something different than all the slots and dice games and all the crypto casinos, which are using the same template.
I assume that you don't want to grow a business out of this and you are not making it for the money.
This game has an educational element, which is something I like.
It would be nice if more gambling games and casinos had an educational element attached to them,so the gamblers could play and learn new stuff at the same time.
The big problem is that many gamblers simply won't find your game to be interesting enough.
Most of gamblers want flashy games with a good design.
Good luck with this project,OP!

I also would like to welcome you, the design is very unique I like the trailer embedded in the script, but I would like to ask why Vertcoin besides Bitcoin, it's the only casino I stumble that accepts Vertcoin, do you have a deal with the Vertcoin developer or you are one of the supporters of Vertcoin, and are you going to add other coins like Ethereum, Tron, Dogecoin.
Launching a signature campaign here will greatly help your casino to attract more players so I recommend doing it if you have the funds.

The team shows that they are competitive by starting to buy a copper membership to make a better ann thread which is suggested in previous posts. Anyway, welcome to tye bitcointalk forum and hope you enjoy the stay in this forum. Try to have an event or a promotion like a contest, bounty campaigns such as signature campaign. It has a good concept but I don't find it interesting. I checked the site and it's good compared to other gambling sites but as I said, I don't find it interesting so good luck with it. Maybe you can add another game.

You are correct that most casinos absolutely could NOT survive on a 0.01 house edge.  However,  since this is a multiplayer game that requires 2 or more players to run,  it doesnt suffer from what every other slot casino suffers from.  Trying to beat the players (usually via a large'ish house edge or a house edge small but not to small).  I have shifted that responsibility onto the players themselves.  So they are competing against each other rather than the house.  Therefore,  the house never actually loses anything.  So I could setup a 0.00000001% house edge,  and still be profitable.  But of course to start out,  I need a higher house edge.  But as time progresses (just like bitcoin,  remember, this is an educational site as well into how BTC works heh) and it gains more players,  I'll be able to lower the house edge even further.  This mimics Bitcoin's "deflationary" aspect.  You might also notice that there are actually 2 different types of games,  games that are seeded by the house and games that are seeded by the players.  If players create their own games, they are rewarded with a lower house edge of 0.01%.  But if it's seeded by me, the house edge is actually 4.75%.  I realizes early that games are probably going to rely upon me heavily to seed them because there's not many players to seed things.  However as it gains popularity,  the seeding I've been doing will actually become less and less lucrative because of the higher percentage and players will simply create their own games instead.

I should make a FAQ about the house edges that explains the correlation between popularity, BTC fees, and house edges.  Here's a 1 to 1 mapping of how this actually works:

House seeded games with 4.75% house edge == Bitcoin mining rewards (which halves every year).
Player seeded games with 0.01% house edge == Bitcoin mining FEES (which will sustain the blockchain once mining rewards are to small).
Threshold == Bitcoin difficulty (the higher the threshold, the more difficult it is and the longer it's going to take for the game to complete)

My goal is exactly the same.  In the future,  player seeded games are what is going to sustain the site while in the early days, House seeded games are going sustain the site.  Pretty neat eh Wink  Bitcoin is revolutionary,  and I'm just trying to apply it's rules to things other than the blockchain itself Smiley  The cool part is that I can start up this little casino with next to NO capitol at all.  The only capitol I need is for the house seeded games.  And since when a house seeded game is completed, it provides the house back it's seed amount PLUS a small house edge,  the house will always be able to seed games.  It's able to do this because of the "threshold" amount that stops a game from completing until it actually reaches the required threshold (again, it has a Bitcoin analogy called Difficulty hehe).

So this method of gaming protects the house from something like this:

Joe shmoe walks up to a slot,  puts 25 cents in,  and wins $250000.  Since the casino is new, they cant afford the payout and they close down.

This game does not suffer from this type of problem which is why the house edge can be so low.  And who says one cant learn something new every day Wink  I've already taught a few people some new tricks right here in this thread explaining how my games work lol.   Hash Wars is full of cool little educational nuggets like this.  Blockchain rules Smiley

Hopefully, the site does not have a deal with the Vertcoin developer because that can impact the coin price as many gamblers will buy Vertcoin to trade and gamble simultaneously.

I guess they will launch their campaign later after they make sure the site can run properly without having a problem so they can promote the site on this forum and gain attraction from us.

So welcome to this forum and enjoy your time promoting your site Cool
