I'm just assuming that Stake wants a stronger legal ID document that their customers around the world use (in this case ID cards and passports). Even I doubt that the Aadhaar card on its own is sufficient as an alternative to passport as having one is not mandatory.

How did they scam you? You are required to provide a better identity verification system though requiring ONLY passport is quite weird; they could have asked for something else like Voter ID which proves everything including your citizenship etc. Did you try that? It's required for applying for a passport as well. They could use it as proof. I don't think it's a scam but a stupid requirement. There are a lot of other ways to prove your citizenship if they don't accept Aadhar Card.

If this adhar card has the value of an official ID in India they can say whatever they want. An ID is an ID.
If it's not, just get a government ID or passport and take Stake's money, you deserve it.

this is what I was gonna say when OP first created the thread but locked it before I post what I wrote. I mean, just because the ID is accepted on other gambling sites does not mean that other gambling sites will automatically accept the ID.

what the OP should do is start getting the passport ID while maintaining contact with the stake.com support. he can also try and post on their ANN thread to get the attention of stunna. though I am not sure what stunna can do. but, it'll be better if more staff can see the case.

Well, I have also found some similar results about the Aadhaar card through Google search. The Unique Identification Authority of India says that “Aadhaar is not a citizenship document: UIDAI”

I found another article about it: The UIDAI Has No Authority to Verify Indian Citizenship. How a casino will accept it as your identity verification where the authority have no one to verify the citizenship based on that documents! Stake verification page says that ”photographs of ID cards and Passport are acceptable,” @amahato998, don't you have any government given valid ID card? (except the Aadhaar card)

Each casino has their own policy. You can't use any identification document and say that it must be valid. Some IDs are not accepted globally because they aren't easy to verify. So if they said that they won't be able to accept your ID, you must have to provide an alternative ID that is accepted globally (like your passport). And I doubt they said your ID is "Garbage". If they really said that, then post screenshots of it over here. Get a passport and withdraw your funds. I mean why aren't you getting a passport. For that $80k, I would grab my passport the next day.

For reference for our Indian brothers who are playing on Stake, you should post the conversation, players should see this coming if they are active players and a betting huge amount of money, they should foresee that they can win a big amount and the casino will ask a KYC to prove that they are abiding with the casinos' rules so they should know and have valid documents that the casino will admit, I'm not blaming you but if they want a passport or other more valid documents you need to provide them, I don't think they single you out it applies to all our brothers from India in Stake.com case

With this situation, the OP better start applying for his passport. He can very well afford it if he is about to get 80k from stake. Stake will just wait for him but let them know that he is in the process of acquiring his passport so they know that you will comply their requirements. I don't think stake will not give his winnings if he complies their standard requirements. And he can easily reached out here because a lot of members will help him. Stake is a reputable site so I don't think they will scam you for this amount.

That's one of the solutions but he will be tempted to play his winnings, 30 to 45 days is very long if you are an active player, and OP runs the risk of losing his winning if only he can control his urge to play and wait for his passport and cash-out first, if it's true that it will take 20 to 45 days he is still in luck here in our country the wait is 60 to 90 days and you will have to wait for an open slot in the online registration.
I hope OP can find a fix to his issue as soon as possible.

No, the OP doesn't own it completely until he can pull it to an address he actually controls. As for the ownership status legally, for the time being I think Stake is still entitled to seize the funds before the OP is able to provide his identity, this happens a lot after the player gets a big win.

If the OP's documents are identified as violating any of the customer's warranties especially regarding jurisdiction, the funds does not actually belong to the OP.

Adhar card (India) is accepted worldwide and even at bet365 and other places. Initially stake accepted the card but asked for selfie and once I provided selfie, they started saying we don't know what is Adhar, it's garbage and has no official value.
