2 out of 3 hashboards are dead in my brand new Canaan Avalon 1166. Trying to figure out if it is worth it to run while I wait for a warranty resolution.
Normally pulls 3400W fully functional, at 1/3 hash rate I would expect 1100-1200W. Besides opening up my panel and getting out the amp probe, is there any way to verify approximately how much power my crippled unit is using via the log?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Please use the code format icon # to make that a lot easier on the eyes...
That said, no miner made gives us a readout of actual power used. They do give us logs of voltage applied to the chips but do not have current sensing. Without a way to sense (and know) the current being pulled, voltage is literally only 1/2 of the equation used to calculate power.

I suggest you check the description logs from Canaan you can download them here https://canaan.io/service/447 then go to the manual tab and download the description log.

Then focus on PS logs it's related to your PSU power and it seems your logs are fine the other two hashboard is not communicating to the control board.
What I would like to suggest is to try to replug all cables between the control board and hashboard

If not, try to flash it with the latest firmware available from https://download.canaan-creative.com/

Thanks. I tried replugging all cables = no help. Waiting on Warranty help.

The manual seems to point to PS() item 5 might be useful.
Quote
Item 5: The output power
from the power supply to
the hash board. For 104x
models, the normal value
is between 1800-2500 (in
W).

The 1166 normal should be about 3400w, mine says 1551 so that may be the answer I was looking for. 1 board @1500 watts. I will probably check with amp probe.

thanks.

Can you try to use the FMS tool and use aging to refresh the miner hashboard I heard someone here before that his issue was solved after the aging process?

Download FMS tool from https://canaan.io/service/447

Then go to diagnose and send this command

Code:
[{"command":"ascset","parameter":"0,aging-set,1"}]

Or if it doesn't work try to download this FMS tool and then instead of sending the command above use the aging button. Hope this will work.

Thanks for the tip. Can you explain "aging" a bit, or point to a resource please?
Thanks -Stan

Check the manual of the FMS tool you can find it under the Canaan link above it should explain how aging works.

Based on the other users it could refresh the hashboard but I don't know exactly how it works it's like calibrating all ASIC chips of each hashboard.

Thanks for the lead, still can't find anything to help me understand "Aging". I agree it sounds like it is syncing frequencies of chips or something. It just makes me a bit nervous sending commands that I don't understand  Roll Eyes

Anyway, my third and final dashboard went offline. Canaan support had me use these aging commands and it brought 1 out of 3 dashboards back. Still waiting on warranty info.

Quote
The hashboard 1, 2 are broken, and you need to  stop aging and set the parameter .

please enter into the diagnose page and click the following command .
Step 1:Stop aging: [{"command":"ascset", "parameter":"0,aging-set,3"}]
Step 2:Set parameter: [{"command":"ascset", "parameter":"0,aging-parameter,60-537:562:587:612"}]
Step 3:reboot :[{"command":"ascset", "parameter":"0,reboot,0"}]

Update:
the above reaging process brought back one of my dashboards.
