CoinBureau has been hacked

You're probably familiar with the YouTuber CoinBureau (1.9M subscribers).

He released a video a few minutes ago and from the look it, it appears that his account has been banned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfhfdyTsEZk

As obvious as it is, I'm pretty sure that there are some beginners following him who would just send money without questioning. I reported the video and I hope you guys can do the same.

That is one thing about people, they do not take security serious but they take it for granted until their social media account or other account is hacked. Celebrities accounts are hacked, other people's account are hacked too before but not thought people lessons. If this will be investigated, we will know that it is because of the owner's mistake that the account is taken down because of bad people that hacked it.

I would have loved to know the reason for the video that was deleted but I guess it is a video of hackers saying people should pay some amount of coins to certain address that they will pay double or more to anyone that send the certain amount an address given. That is a scam if it was it.

The channel owner removed the video shortly after I made this topic, here's his statement (strange, considering that you can only access the account with a physical key):

For everyone's reference, this was the scam that was run. "One world cryptocurrency". Unless someone physically had a security key, I don't know how they got access...

Seeing the list of hacked YouTube accounts, it seems kinda sus. Even IvanOnTech and Andreas Antonopoulos were hacked; whereas both are pretty technical people inside and outside of cryptocurrencies. I'm betting that this is a YouTube problem.

Also, I freakin hate that of all the tweets that Cointelegraph embedded onto the article, they've chosen that stupid whale's.

You can bet your ass it's youtube and google problem, and even Coin Bureau said that he is using strong passwords and google security keys.
Only people who can own security keys are Coin Bureau and google, so it must be some inside job and if you read comments you will see hacker is aparently using Binance exchange account.
Conclusion: Don't trust google and don't use their services

Thanks for sharing with us. Just now before login the forum saw this news in the Cointelegraph channel. It was really shocking such a big channel hacked even there was strong security. Blind followers of this channel and newbies would be victims of this hack. That's why we need to use our brains before dealing with cryptocurrency since it's irreversible.

It's worrying thing. Channel with almost 2 million subscribers it's possible to make so much damage. Scammers can get a lot of money in very short time before video gets deleted. I see that video already got deleted, so, does anyone saw what content exactly that video had.
And it's scary to see that Youtubers who get hacked isn't dummies. Most of them probably know how to protect their accounts and they use at least basic precautions like 2FA. Hackers is getting smarter every day if they are able to access these accounts.

Pretty easy for me to not use any Google product to be honest. Well, except for YouTube lol. I can use Tutanota and ProtonMail instead of Gmail, DuckDuckGo and StartPage instead of Google Search, etc. but YouTube really doesn't have a decent alternative.

But at least you can use privacy-friendly front-end such as https://github.com/iv-org/invidious or https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipe. My experience with those aren't very good though.

While I knew these exist, I haven't tried any of them. Having your subscriptions in one place is just so convenient, and not to mention that the algorithm that makes video recommendations on the Home page is just so good that I'm actually willing to let Google track my viewership interests lmao.

You can kind a use different frontends for youtube like invidious for example, and have all your subscriptions with notification there.
Advantage is that you will see no ads and your behavior will not be tracked by bog brother, but sometimes you will have to switch instances.
I think that youtube is getting worse every year, they have stupid censorship and they (or their stupid algo) often ban good crypto related content, like wie saw recently with Bitcoin Magazine channel.

For the first time, I thought it was a platform because of the word "coin." It's strange that YouTube channels are named with it. 
In general, it is good that the video was quickly removed, but the confusing thing is that hackers who managed to hack this YouTube channel is trying to scam people with a trick that "doable bitcoin scam^[1]"

The strange thing is that such attacks succeed in raising some money, although I think that people with this intelligence will be able to raise more money by inventing more complex scam ways.

The video thumbnail alone is rather ugly and should made most people skeptic. But i guess there are people who blindly trust something even if it behave differently.

Thumbnail really don't look very very attractive, but as you say, some people just don't have critical thinking and they fall into these scams in easy way. Especially when such stuff comes from trusted channel.

Finding alternative for services like Gmail, Maps or Chromes is easy, but some don't have good alternative. Personally I don't use DuckDuckGo because it don't gives such accurate search results as Google does, especially when searching language other than English. And Youtube, well, you said it yourself.

I'm not sure about other languages, but try using StartPage.com. As far as I know it basically just scrapes Google search results for their results, but without them storing search data and stuff. Most probably not as private as DuckDuckGo but it's the best that we have right now if you don't want to sacrifice user experience.
