Good to share that recently bitcoin white paper which was originally published by Satoshi Nakomoto; continues to be translated in different languages throughout the world.

I think this is effort of developers or different nations to publish the bitcoin through this paper and let everyone understand the principle behind the Bitcoins working.

Recently, Nepali language have been used to translate the paper however sadly that nation is against the crypto currency. Amid this scenario, Dahal the translator and crypto enthusiast from the state expects that Nepal will accept the transactions soon after conditions are right.

Quote
The Bitcoin whitepaper published by anonymous author Satoshi Nakamoto continues to be available in different languages as community members strive to spread the document’s contents to the masses.
As of January 30, 2022, the whitepaper had been translated into 40 languages with Nepali becoming the latest addition. The translation uploaded on the Bitcoin.org website was done by two cryptocurrency enthusiasts Krishna Dahal and Bibek Koirala.

What do you think about this?

Does it really matters if Bitcoin Whitepaper is available in different languages ?

This is awesome, with more languages being available, that means that more people will easily understand the white paper especially the ones that has a small amount of English speaking population, this is probably the biggest help that they can get. The only problem that I see with this is that some parts of the white paper would get lost in translation as there might be no direct translation for it or the translation might be far fetch from the real meaning.

Does it really matters if Bitcoin Whitepaper is available in different languages ?

It does. Not everybody understands English that good and having the white paper in his own language could get one actually read it.

This being said, one year ago there were still automated and bad translations too here and there, since some prefer to have their name visible there than a job properly done.
Hence it would be nice that the local communities would actually read the white paper in their own language even if they've already read it in English, to also see (tell) whether improvements in the translation are necessary.

Why is it that always third world under developed countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, etc. are always against bitcoin?

Quote
What do you think about this?
This is an important move, and I liked how you put it, it helps people learn the "principles behind bitcoin" in their own language.
But I think an even more important move is to dedicate a lot of efforts into translating bitcoin clients. For example Bitcoin Core and Electrum should be translated to more languages, protocols like BIP39 should add more word-lists, ... to help people use bitcoin in their own language.

That is what I also want to know. Perhaps they believe that the funds of their people are better off spent domestically and help stimulate the economy rather than bring it somewhere else, e.g. cryptocurrency. That's just my guess.

--

Seeing the whitepaper translated into my local language is helpful. I might have been here in the forum for years and read the whitepaper a couple of times, but there are some things that I don't fully understand no matter how much I read it back. How much more for those people who are challenged in reading and understanding English? If we want more people to be exposed to bitcoin, we must try and speak to them in a language they do understand.

While this is great, imo we should be focusing more on easier-to-digest information as it's highly more likely for the new people to read them. The majority simply just won't be interested in reading a science paper. Probably something like this[1] page; though it's definitely going to need some updating on the "fast" and "cheap" part.

Yes, it matters. So much.

First, the English language is understood only by a minority in the world. The largest portion of the world's population does not understand English. So there is a need to translate Bitcoin's whitepaper to as many languages as possible.

Second, the document brings so much to the world, why would others be deprived of it? Although it doesn't really matter to a lot of people who are still living in ways far from the reach of technologies, still it preaches a lot of what the financial system should be like. And time will come technology will reach them. It is better to have already formed a rough idea of how a monetary system should be.

What do you think about this?

Does it really matters if Bitcoin Whitepaper is available in different languages ?
It definitely matters in terms of spreading awareness about bitcoin because people from all over the world can read a legendary document in their native language and understand the main reason bitcoin was invented, its key purpose, what problems it is meant to solve. However, I don't think that translations into other languages are going to make bitcoin easier to understand in terms of how it works and what internal technical processes of bitcoin are. Most of the terminology that is used in bitcoin requires additional, and sometimes even more technically complex, explanation when translated into languages other than English. For example, I read Mastering Bitcoin twice both in English and in my native language, but I ended up learning more from the original version because I have seldom seen such terminology used in my language. When expressed in English, the usage of technical terms feels and sounds very natural, but very weird when translators try to interpret different technicalities revolving around bitcoin.

Excuse my ignorance, but does anyone know if it was translated into Portuguese?

in any case this is a very good thing, because many people will be able to read it without difficulty. I hope this doesn't generate noise with faketoshi either, the guy loves attention and confusion

Is it hard to click on a link and check? OP states that the translations are available on bitcoin.org, and if you visit that page and know what you are looking for, you can quickly find out the answer to your question.

https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-paper
https://bitcoin.org/files/bitcoin-paper/bitcoin_pt.pdf

I agree that we need as many translations as possible because regardless of someone's knowledge of English, everyone understands something best in their mother tongue. Although one should not think that someone will understand Bitcoin and blockchain only if they read the whitepaper, it is, after all, some basis for further understanding.

The Bitcoin whitepaper being translated into more languages is something positive, but I wonder what would motivate the people to spend some time reading the Bitcoin whitepaper.
They might read the whitepaper because they are curious.
The times have changed and Bitcoin in 2022 is way different than the Bitcoin in 2009.
The Bitcoin whitepaper has more of a "historical value" rather than actual technical value.
Most of the people, who are entering the world of Bitcoin don't know and don't care about the whitepaper.
They think only about the BTC price and nothing else. Sad

Translating any document or paper to many international languages allows people all over the world to see important documents in their original and understanding the right form, and in addition, they give us a strong indication of the importance of this document and its proliferation And people attention to knowing its real content, means we can say that these new translations are a strong indicator over the importance of Bitcoin and people's attention to learning more about it, of course this will help the speed of the spread Bitcoin and acceptance around the world.

At least as of a few years ago English was the most known language in the world. Chineese was a distant 2nd and Hindi 3rd.
I don't know if it's changed in the last few years but I can't see it loosing it's spot that quickly.

It might not be the most known NATIVELY but it's known.

The catch is that it's a very popular 2nd language.

BUT, no matter what the more languages the white paper is in the better it is. More eyes on it the better it is.

As for @pooya87 and why so many "third world under developed countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, etc. are always against bitcoin" I can ask " why only third world under developed countries like El Salvador are the ones fully Bitcoin" Yes, they tend to be against it more then for it, but they are still there.

Against or oppose, sooner or later they will accept Bitcoin because in an era when the world accept Bitcoin as legal tender, it's weird if any nation stay outside the global adoption.

We call and consider Bitcoin as digital gold so when its time comes, the world will accept it like physical gold now. No nation will be against it. Furthermore, Bitcoin is much better than physical gold from technology, security, privacy and convenience in its use cases.

This is marvelous, who ever thought of this translations was brilliant in mind. Kudos to the people who manage to make it happen, not all people around the world can understand English. I was getting ideas right now and maybe translate them also to our own local dialect. This progress should be continuous and maybe one day even the farthest people on earth could read Bitcoin's White Paper with their own language too. Glad I have seen good news today even though the world is in peril, gives me hope that Bitcoin might soar again in not time.

Full read:- Milestone: Bitcoin whitepaper is now available in 40 languages

It does matter- like it is the core and the very foundation of cryptocurrencies.

The fact that most countries have adopted and translated the whitepaper of BTC show on its widespread popularity gaining over the years. Though when I first read the whitepaper and I literally did not understand it, the fact remains that countries have impliedly accepted its existence, thereby paving way for its implementation in the future.

I just do hope that there would be like another document or like a TLDR version of the whitepaper for newbies/beginners who are not knowledgeable on the technical terms that is contained.

Good to share that recently bitcoin white paper which was originally published by Satoshi Nakomoto; continues to be translated in different languages throughout the world.

Though English is a major language which is understandable worldwide but i think bitcoin white paper should be translated in every language of the world. Perhaps we can have someone start a thread in meta and everyone contribute to translate the bitcoin white paper to all languages. Can we have a single source where all bitcoin white paper translations are available ?

Not everyone understand English well even when they use translation assistance. Therefore, it is important for them to understand more about bitcoin if they are interested in reading the whitepaper in their own language. I think the more language available for the bitcoin whitepaper, the better it will be to make the reader understand more because bitcoin is for everyone around the world.

-snip-

English is of course the most popular language in the world. The globalized community is still using English more than any other language, although in terms of the whole world population, only a minority speaks and understands it. But it's not about how widely spoken or understood English is. It is about how wide the reach of Bitcoin's whitepaper should be. If possible, it should even be translated into minor languages or dialects if it means reforming the obsolete monetary system.

Does it matter if a country is third world or first world? Every person in the world equally deserves financial freedom, privacy, etc.

That’s nice, but it’s quite unnecessary if you’re going to say that it should be translated to every language, because there are so many languages on earth more than you can count. The more important is that we have to make sure that the Bitcoin whitepaper is available and translated into major languages that are being spoken around the world such as English, Spanish, French, and the rest of them that are widely being used.

There are translating apps these days that can help anyone translate any written text to whatever language that they would want it to be translated into, although it can’t be hundred percent accurate at times, but it can be accurate to an extent of being understood.
