Another Ledger scam attempt!!!

While I was browsing the Ledger's subreddit, I stumbled upon another lame phishing attempt: Another scam email
^{- They're not even trying that hard anymore [e.g. outdated logo (apart from their obvious attempt at getting the seed phrases)], but I wouldn't be surprised to see tech-illiterate users falling for it!}

Despite the warning of not to reveal seed phrase to anyone other than oneself, it would not be a surprise that someone will still fall for this type of scam. One bad quality of this scammers is that they will not leave a single satoshi on the wallet, it would be max icon followed by withdraw. I have noticed one thing about people in this world, no matter how hard you pass the information across, no matter the warning displayed during the generation of seed phrase on reputed wallet, some people will just still be falling for this type of easy-to-avoid scam. Even, common pay 2 and get 4, they are falling for it.

You know, you'd hope that anyone who's gone through the effort to buy, set up, and keep coins on a hardware wallet would know that any e-mail asking you to enter in your seed phrase has got to be a scam attempt...but I don't know how many people own Ledger wallets, and if the number is large enough it's almost guaranteed that a fraction of them (however small) will fall for it and thus lose all their coins.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone post here that they'd fallen victim to a phishing scam like this one, and while that might be because of pride, I'm hoping it's because there really are only small numbers of victims.

Remind me to never enter my real e-mail addy into any crypto-related thingee ever again.  Seems like the whole space has a horrible track record of security failures and dishonesty.

I am getting emails like this in my old spam email address all the time, and I am not even paying any attention to them, but the sad thing is that some people are falling for this crap all the time.
Just imagine how many emails, sms, and calls like this previous ledger customers received after that huge ledger leaked that happened.

It's sad that people still are getting victimized like that. There are a couple of warnings that you shouldn't do, like sharing the seed or something. It's not something that people should do, but they do it because they lack the knowledge or are too surprised with the information they get and do whatever it says in the email.

Usually, those who easily fall for such scams are actually the ones who have significant amounts at risk ^{[they tend to have little to no time for learning a bit more than just the basics stuff]}.

I don't know how many people own Ledger wallets, and if the number is large enough it's almost guaranteed that a fraction of them (however small) will fall for it and thus lose all their coins.

Ledger has sold "over 3 million" wallets so far and even though that doesn't automatically equate to having 3 million users ^{[e.g. multiple wallet owners]}, it's still a huge number ^{[unfortunately]}.

It's not something that people should do, but they do it because they lack the knowledge or are too surprised with the information they get and do whatever it says in the email.

Usually, those who easily fall for such scams are actually the ones who have significant amounts at risk ^{[they tend to have little to no time for learning a bit more than just the basics stuff]}.

Or they are so greedy that they want to multiply their earnings more and more and they will do anything that they can and believe things easily. It's just that maybe they didn't work so hard for it as well? Because you would really protect it at any cost if it's hard-earned money. Fundamentals are key to anything that you are doing, IMO.

I recently received an email that my affiliate account will be archived soon because I haven't logged in for too long, but I don't consider it important at all - I consider every email coming from Ledger insecure and possibly fake, and that's how I treat them.

I even checked the spam folders, but I haven't received any mail from the OP (yet). I have no doubt that there will be those who will believe in such content, but I'm surprised that the scammer decided to shorten the deadline for users to send a request for a new seed - anyone who reads this email after February 3. 2022, has another good reason to do nothing.

The email and its content doesn't look that bad. Your standard phishing mail looks like its written by a complete degenerate. Compared to that, this one was written by a professional. Someone should ask them though how do wallets and seed phrases get terminated? I would love to hear their theory on that.

I haven't seen this one in the wild yet. I will check with my friend whose email got leaked. Maybe he received one.
I have the feeling that various phishing emails have started to make their rounds again. I am seeing fake emails from MetaMask, exchanges asking for personal data to unlock my funds, scammy deposit confirmations and stuff like that. Not to mention all the women from my neighborhood who want to have sex with me.

These scammers will never stop. The email which I've used in purchasing my ledger wallet has received this type of scam attempt after their data has been leaked.

There's no problem to us as we're aware of these phishing tricks but it's really concerning the newer folks that just bought their ledger. And also, those who are new to the crypto market, they really are likely to fall for this.
